Reviews
From there, things only continued to disappoint. Everything started late. Not a single activity began on time, and I constantly had to chase staff just to get things moving. I registered for multiple activities that simply never happened—no communication, no updates, no accountability. Just silence and confusion.
Yes, the property itself is beautiful. The design is elegant, and the rooms are well put together—but none of that can make up for service that is this careless and disconnected. A luxury hotel should feel seamless and welcoming; instead, this felt disorganized, cold, and frustrating from start to finish.
I kept hoping something would redeem the stay, but it never came. Every expectation went unmet, and the overall experience felt poorly managed and impersonal.
This wasn’t just disappointing—it was a complete letdown. I won’t be returning.
Upon arrival i was greeted with a cold towel and coconut water. I was taken to my room and helped with my luggage.
Once i arrived at my room I was initially happy as the decor was beautiful but after having a closer look i was not too satisfied, i opted for the deluxe private pool access room but the location of the pool was not very private at all, it was right next to the entrance of the building and only slightly covered by some plants.
The pool had loads of bugs and the light was flickering.
I informed reception, who quickly sent someone to clean the pool and repair the light.
I already asked to change my room which reception were very helpful and sent someone to show me other rooms.
I found another room which initially seemed better but was in the process of being cleaned.
I waited around 20 mins and i was told my room was ready.
When i arrived to the new room there was a strong smell of mold/mildew but i tried not to make a fuss and simply asked for some air freshener.
After inspecting the room i noticed the toilet seat had stains and was of a low quality.
The pool area was not clean and had many stains, also the table outside was stained.
The floor felt dusty and the windows and mirrors had multiple marks.
The shower leaked each time we used it and created a pool of water covering the bathroom floor, i reported this to reception who quickly sent out engineers. Unfortunately they did not fix the problem and simply rolled up a towel next to the shower door.
Although staff responded promptly to any complaints, nothing was actually rectified.
Breakfast had a large selection, although a bit pricey it was worth the cost.
The hotel offers a free shuttle service to khao lak centre and bang niang market, we were slightly late back but the bus was still there, i attempted to get on the bus but the driver drove off which was pretty dangerous.
The drivers of the shuttle bus were very rude to my partner and told him if we were late again they would not wait for us. Unfortunately the drivers were not very friendly to us and made us feel unwelcome after this.
We attended the Tin terrace restaurant for my birthday which i made a reservation for and a request for a good seat for the fire show. Upon arrival the restaurant knew nothing of my reservation, luckily we managed to find a good seat.
The service was very slow and the food was terrible but presented well, we sent the food back and decided to eat elsewhere. The manager of the restaurant was apologetic and took the food off of the bill so we just paid for drinks.
The fire show was phenomenal but the food was trash.
There’s much better places to eat in Khao lak centre for a fraction of the cost.
The spa was beautiful i had a 2.5 hour package for 2890 Bhat, although there are much cheaper options elsewhere this was worth the costs for a birthday treat.
The hotel has its own beach, the bridge to the beach felt old and dangerous, the beach itself was small but peaceful.
They also offer free kayaking in the lake.
Over all my stay was ok, The hotel is beautiful and has potential to be a 5⭐️ but due to the issues stated and the cleanliness i would not say this hotel is 5star. This was my 30th birthday trip and i expected more, the service and most staff made it slightly better the
For the money i spent i wish i booked elsewhere, i would not stay here again.
2. No Service around the swimming pool only at the pool bar
3. Can not walk beach site is Army restricedt area left side and right side is a lot of Rock
4. Beach the Toilet is Afrika style
5. Service beach site all stars on the sky, it is just a very bad wooden house and the second wooden house was very dirty.
6.Generally all Staffing are not very friendly, in the morning we say good morning or saba di kap. I think 60 percent need refreshing and briefings
7. All cleaning ladies and gardeners are perfect, friendly as I know the Thai Peoples
8. My first time in Thailand was 1993 not holiday but for working.
Our 1st room was placed right in front of kids swimming pool area(we did requested quiet room on trip.com). Thankfully after all day with noise and ask front desk and we moved to the quiet room on the other side of the resort on next day.
However the 2nd room was quite a bit dusty with the drains in the bath room a bit smelly, room was a slightly smell of mold/dumb. We found a cockcroach in the room. After requested house keeping to remove, the house keeping lady has attitude about it. I understand that the location is in the jungle there is no need for the attitude and speak to customer this. Especially for the high price we paid in high season
The following down i found a baby cockcroach in our room. I think the room need to be checked properly/house keeping and pest control. As this is shouldn't happen in 5* resort.
Kids club staff was best I have ever seen ever! 10/5 Senior member needs a bonus!
Kalima is more than just a hotel – it’s a place with a mood.
Breathtaking sunsets and a stunning infinity pool create an atmosphere of complete relaxation.
The rooms are spacious, with soft beds and crisp white sheets, and morning coffee on the balcony is a special treat. Breakfast offers a great variety – from fresh fruit to Asian dishes and European classics.
The service is attentive yet unobtrusive, always ready to help with anything you need.
If you’re looking for a romantic getaway, inspiration, or simply a change of scenery in a beautiful, peaceful setting – Kalima in Phuket definitely deserves a spot on your list. 📍🌴
We stayed at Kalima Resort, which is marketed as a 5-star property. While the hotel grounds and room design are aesthetically pleasing, our overall experience did not meet the expectations associated with a hotel of this caliber.
The hotel is located outside of Khao Lak, which makes it rather isolated. Any outing requires a taxi or the hotel’s shuttle service, which operates only three times a day — at 13:00, 16:00, and 19:00 — limiting flexibility for guests.
We had booked a room with a pool. While the room itself was indeed beautiful, it is important to note that the pools are either private or shared among several rooms. This should be clearly communicated at the time of booking.
Breakfast was diverse and generally tasty. However, the dining area is open-air, not air-conditioned, and unfortunately full of flying insects, making the experience quite uncomfortable. Additionally, there is only one table suitable for more than four guests. The staff does not allow rearrangement of tables, meaning families or groups larger than four are forced to sit separately.
The most troubling issue occurred on July 28, when we returned to our room to discover there was no hot water. We immediately contacted the front desk and also reported the problem via the hotel app. We were informed there was a malfunction and it would be resolved within two hours. However, this did not happen. The only solutions offered were to shower in a vacant room or at the lobby, which is far from an acceptable resolution for a hotel in this price range. We were not offered a room change or any form of compensation. Even after check-out, our proactive request for a follow-up and compensation was met only with an apology from hotel management, without any tangible remedy.
A hotel that charges premium rates and claims to be 5-star must demonstrate a higher level of service and professionalism. In cases of utility failure, such as a lack of hot water, immediate room replacement or an upgrade at a nearby partner hotel should be standard procedure. This was not handled appropriately, and we left deeply disappointed.
We do not recommend this hotel to travelers expecting a true 5-star experience.

We stayed in a 700thb bungalow which was basic but provided everything you need, comfy bed, no problem with mosquitoes & cool at night with the fan.
The staff are lovely, very friendly & helpful.
Great beach nearby with good choice bars/restaurants. The restaurant was closed at Poseidon due to it being low season but they provide a great breakfast!
We initially booked 3 nights but ended up staying the double!
As many other reviews report, you feel like you’re well away from the mass tourism which is predominant in the area.
The bungalows are fairly basic, the restaurant is very good and the staff and management is lovely and always ready to help you enjoying as much as possible your stay with very nice suggestions.
Highly recommended!!
