Merit Resort Samui in Lamai Beach

The bed sheets were dirty Iike they hadn't changed them from the last guests. I asked the manager for them to be changed. He said they had been changed that morning. I went back to the room and took the bed sheet off and took it to show him. You could visibly see the sweat stains on it. He agreed to get it changed. When the maid arrived to change the sheets she told us the manager had instructed her to not change the sheets that morning and merely turn the sheets over. We then. Needless to say we were not going to stay here. What with the managers attitude l gave her a tip and went to a different hotel.

Ohhh this place….ugh.

This was our last stop for our honeymoon after staying on Koh Pha-Ngan and Koh Tao.

The photos advertised were a bit deceiving. This resort needs some attention and love, for sure. I bet it was a “nice” resort back in the 90s. While the view is definitely spectacular, we got to our room and it was likely over 100 degrees in the room, the A/C wasn’t on yet and when we did turn hot on, it was a bit lacking. We had to keep pressing the “powerful booster” every 20 minutes to maximize the cool air. Not ideal.

Issues with the room:
There was a hole in the molding by the window (see photo) I had to shove tissues in it because lizards were coming in and out of the room through the hole.
Also, The cabinet for the fridge was broken and falling off the hinges.

The pool: while the pool is okay, the area around the pool is a bit sad. The chairs around the pool were covered in green algae or something and some were broken. Also, the “pool bar” was anything but a bar lol about one shot of liquor left in each bottle (see photo).

Breakfast: they told us the times for breakfast but there was no breakfast included in the room, so we paid for our breakfast off the menu. Not a huge deal, but confusing.

Location: away from most other things- my suggestion, stay in Lamai or Chewang.
This place is located off a very busy road that has no way of walking to other places “nearby.”

While we made it work for two nights (trying to blast the AC as best as we could) I would not stay again. I hope someone gives this resort some love because it has so much potential.
