The Hive Chiang Mai in Chiang Mai City

Bad service and impolite. The towels were old and not very clean.

So many better places to stay than here. Really no soundproofing and hostel vibes. There are also better located rooms and places with better hospitality that are trained in proper guest experience

We chose The Hive Chiang Mai Hotel because the picture of the Grand Suite with King Bed looked amazing on Booking.com, we paid extra for that room and looked forward to sitting on the sofa looking out at the mountains and the uninterrupted cityscape view. Our stay at our previous hotel ended because of renovations, and The Hive was literally a 5 minute walk away, so seemed like a great choice. We arrived early due to check-out times. The room wasn't ready, so the Hive took our bags while we had lunch and explored the area until 2pm (check-in time). 1st impressions were not great.. from entering reception - not at all what we expected - it gave hostel vibes, which is not a bad thing, just not what we expected or wanted.. so we tried to reduce our stay from 2 days to 1 day.. but the hotel pretty much said no... well, we came for the room not the reception area, so we waited to be checked in.. well after 2pm. So surprised by the room, as it looked nothing like the picture - a totally different room. When we asked for the room that we paid for, we were told it was occupied, and it was unreasonable for us to expect the same room we see on-line, as it's just an example. We were so disappointed we just cancelled, and booked a much nicer hotel.
