Le Pure Hotel Chiangmai (SHA Extra Plus) in Chiang Mai City

We booked the Presidential Suite at this hotel for 7 nights. We spent an unbearable 2 nights here before having to leave and find somewhere else.

I am no stranger to the smells of Thailand, but you do not expect the smell of sewage to be trapped in your bedroom, so strong and frequent that it wakes you in the night.

The first night we spent here was unbearable, with no windows or airflow in the bedroom there was no way to dissipate the smell.

The shower was not draining, we thought this could be the issue and the next day the front desk staff kindly came and fixed something in the shower so that it drained.

We decided to give the hotel another chance and stayed a second night, we slept in the lounge room on the couch to attempt to escape the smell. There was no escape.

We complained again to the hotel staff, they spent 30 seconds flushing the toilet and cleaning the urinal, neither of which were the source of the smell. The smell was clearly coming from the shower drain.

The room had 3 separate air fresheners around the room, a tell tale sign to me that they knew about this issue.

After packing all of our stuff, and booking another hotel we were finally offered another room, which was unfortunately far too late.

The on duty staff were very helpful during this time but unfortunately lacked any authority to assess or rectify the issue properly.

We were refused a refund for the 4 nights we could not stay here, and the hotel later blamed the smell on us for not flushing the urinal, which we had never even used. From the photo they sent us it looks to have drainage issues the same as the shower.

There are some serious plumbing /drainage issues at this hotel that need to be sorted out before this room should be used again. It is a serious health hazard to be breathing that all night.
