The Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Loop in Chicago

Comfortable, clean and well located.

The bed was great, heating and AC worked perfectly, staff was attentive and housekeeping was on point. Food was good too.

Now the honest part. The shower over bathtub setup is genuinely uncomfortable, tight, and you end up soaking the entire bathroom.

I get that it’s a classic hotel thing but it just doesn’t work well. The gym exists just to say it exists m nobody in our group managed to use it properly.

Closet space was tight. And the minibar didn’t even work, which I only found out after leaving food in there overnight. Lost my stuff because of it.

Small things, but they add up. Fix those and this place easily jumps to a 5.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

I’m currently here now for the weekend to have a slight stay cation.

So I booked through a 3rd party site. It doesn’t mention the $100 a night extra fee for incidentals. Which is charged up front but returned back.

It doesn’t mention the $10 a night credit to spend at the hotel.

It doesn’t mention that they have no room service and if you google room service for their hotel you come up with 2 places that are a bit costly.

I just wanted to get away and clear my head. No clue it would cost me $500 to do so. The original booking price was only $312, paid at booking.

It kinda put a damper on my entire “relax” time.

I saw something say there were face mask, chocolates, bath salts and other items for free in the rooms included with your stay…where? If these things are not in the room already staff definitely doesn’t mention them.

And please note to use the elevator you have to use your keycard.

Staff was nice, the young lady who checked me in was sweet. But yea the hotel needs to update the website and be transparent about everything. I get it’s downtown but this…not $500 for this when the Hyatt or Hilton cost less for bigger spaces and amenities.

I may not be back after this weekend. But it will hopefully be a nice get away still. After I try to figure out how to actually make it enjoyable now.

This was our first time staying downtown Chicago and it was a mom–daughter trip to see Phantom of the Opera—and the Alllegro Royal Sonesta made it absolutely unforgettable.

Imagine our surprise when there was a knock at our door, and surprise, surprise! We were greeted with a complimentary bottle of wine and yummy platter! It was such a thoughtful and generous gesture and instantly made us feel welcomed and celebrated.

Dru, you truly made our mom–daughter trip so special. Your kindness, attention to detail, and hospitality meant more to us than you know. We appreciate you immensely!

The hotel itself was charming, comfortable, and perfectly located—an ideal home base for exploring the busy city.

We loved our stay so much that we’re already planning our next trip in May for the Bruno Mars concert, and we will absolutely be staying here again.

We stayed here because we were going to see Phantom of the opera right next-door. Super convenient to be able to just walk to our show. The rooms are clean. The beds are super comfortable in the room. Keys are the best! They also give you two postcards and there’s mail service throughout the hotel, which is a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again.

Got the suite for my parents and I got a regular room. They were both beautiful, big, comfy and well decorated. Staff was extremely accommodating and nice. Valet service was great and quick. I highly recommend the lemon ricotta pancakes at the restaurant on the main floor. Highly recommend! Will definitely go back in the future.

Awien helped my too early arriving at the hotel, and I could checked in.

Rooms were indeed somewhat small, but it was all that I needed after a busy day in Chicago. Everything here was great. I enjoyed my stay here and am anticipating returning in the future. Perfect!

We just did all the things and the Allegro was in the perfect spot. We arrived at Ogilvie and walked to the hotel. Then over 3 days we jumped on the L to McCormick Place, walked to the new Harry Potter store on Michigan, walked to the Art Institute to spend an afternoon and saw a play right next door at the Cadillac Theater. Sure the hotel could use some sprucing up but everything was clean, our room was quiet and the staff was friendly. Thanks for the adventure!
