Reviews
Hotel staff was very nice. The room was a nice size, we had a nice view and a little couch in our room. That was nice to sit with a glass of wine and look out on the city, especially because it was 20° outside. The bathroom was very nice with a shower and a bathtub.
The restaurant Was really nice for breakfast and the menu look good for dinner, but my wife is Gluten-free, and The only thing I really didn’t like about the hotel was that their menu didn’t seem to take gluten-free very seriously. There were a few items on the menu that said gluten-free, but obviously have gluten in them. But I said the cocktails were really good and the vibe was awesome. Our bartender was very nice. A lady in the bar needs her phone charged, and the bartender grabbed a phone charger out of his bag, And let her borrow it.
All in all, It was more than I expected to get for the price. Very nice experience.
When we first entered our room as went straight for the huge windows. It was a nice view overall, but then we found a sock behind the mini-bar. We let it go considering it was behind the bar/next to the couch.
The location is great since it’s right near Millennium Park and not far from the Magnificent Mile.
Breakfast was at the hotel’s restaurant, Toro. It was standard breakfast which was very mediocre. Didn’t hate it, but also didn’t like it. Even thought it says we get complimentary breakfast due to booking off Chase it was really a $31 daily credit. Not exactly free considering most of the breakfast items cost about $25 not including coffee/tea.
Also want to point out the daily “Urban Experience Fee” that was tacked on in addition to the price I thought I was paying so that wasn’t great. Most of the credits you get from the fee was not helpful. The $15 credit for food helped offset the breakfast at least.
Hotel Restaurant was not equipped to handle their offered breakfast package. 2nd morning we opted to get ours “to go” since we couldn’t be seated by end of breakfast (an hour before end). They forgot parts of the order and were rude when we returned for them. Ie. toast, which COMES with the order. It was odd.
Due to the midnight changing of rooms, the day before check-out, we asked for a late check-out (which our status includes) and were told to ask again in the morning. So we got up earlier than intended just in case they didn’t grant it. They offered to charge us for late check-out until we reminded them it’s included in our status. They then offered 1 hour which happens to be the shortest time we’ve ever been offered especially with the hotel not near capacity.
The hotel is beautiful and clean. Most of the employees we encountered were very polite and efficient. We would stay here again despite the bumps in this particular stay.
This is what a hotel is supposed to feel like. Not like a chain, not transactional, but delightful!
A very expensive hotel focusing on big conferences, there are no microwave oven, empty refrigerator (you can request) in the room and swimming pool. Do not lift up the drinks and snacks in the box on the table (there are sensors underneath) unless you don't mind to be charged. The existing refrigerator is full of drinks. I was afraid to touch it, even the concierge didn't know how to open the refrigerator lock. But the coffee and tea are free. There is a person (not housekeeper) comes to the room to check and refill all the drinks and snacks including the free ones.
We booked our room many weeks earlier, after we checked in I realized that the room prices dropped comparing our original prices, maybe not enough conference people attending.
Hope the information is helpful for you.
