I stayed at Fairmont Millennium Park from February 13–15 and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. I don’t typically leave negative reviews, but this stay fell far below expectations for a hotel of this reputation and price point.

Immediately after check-in, there was a strong decaying smell coming from the bathroom. A plumber came the next morning and confirmed it was a clogged sink drain. He resolved the blockage and said housekeeping would follow up to properly clean and address the odor. However, when we returned at 9 PM that evening, on Valentine’s Day, the room had not been serviced at all. The bathroom was still unclean, the smell lingered, and the bed hadn’t been made.

To make matters worse, my boyfriend had paid extra to have the room decorated for Valentine’s Day, yet basic housekeeping wasn’t completed. It was extremely disappointing.

There were also small hairs in the shower and near the sink upon arrival, suggesting the bathroom had not been properly cleaned. One lamp didn’t work, one drawer was broken, and the heat would not go above 73°F, which left us cold after being outside in the Chicago winter. Overall, the room and hotel felt worn and dated.

For comparison, I stayed at LondonHouse Chicago on a previous visit, and the experience there was 10x more luxurious, better maintained, and far more aligned with the level of service.

This was not the level of service or quality I expected from Fairmont. Very disappointed.

We were pleasantly surprised to have our room upgraded and a late check-out added to our stay. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable and had an amazing view. I had the best facial I've ever had at the Leaf Spa.

Was nice enough. Didn't "wow". Expected a sofa in room based on booking website, didn't get. Didn't get the free upgrade entitled associated with program we booked under. Hotel claimed they were full, not likely, as higher rooms could be be booked online that evening. Seems to be standard practice to deny this benefit by many chains participating in the program. Don't lie to us, just tell us from the beginning not to expect upgrades. Room service and wet bar seemed excessively expensive. Smoke alarm in room beeped at 2am and 4am. Annoying. All the staff was very good. Again, I would go back and recommend, but expectations will be appropriately tempered.

I stayed last summer for a medical conference. Concierge Gail Walker reached out soon after I booked my stay to offer their services. They were very quick with responses, even calling me when email was too difficult to respond as I was busy working in the hospital. They asked my goals of the trip and anything I’d like to do. I let them know my fiancé was with me and that my partner deserved a romantic weekend as they took time out of their schedule to drive me to Chicago and back. Gail handled the weekend beautifully! From helping schedule a couples massage to finding a top rated restaurant in my fiancé’s preferred cuisine and booked the reservation for us. I also greatly enjoyed the Gold Lounge as well as the attention to detail from the staff. Overall very pleasant stay and I’d love to stay at this and other Fairmont hotels in the future. Thanks for the great stay! (Photos are from the Gold Lounge snacks that were included, and the welcome romantic chocolates and bubbly set up by my awesome concierge!)

I would recommend staying here. It was a great location, easy walk to the magnificent mile & Millennium Park. We used SpotHero find a very affordable covered parking with In-N-Out 24 access that was literally in the building attached to the hotel.

Hotel staff was very nice. The room was a nice size, we had a nice view and a little couch in our room. That was nice to sit with a glass of wine and look out on the city, especially because it was 20° outside. The bathroom was very nice with a shower and a bathtub.

The restaurant Was really nice for breakfast and the menu look good for dinner, but my wife is Gluten-free, and The only thing I really didn’t like about the hotel was that their menu didn’t seem to take gluten-free very seriously. There were a few items on the menu that said gluten-free, but obviously have gluten in them. But I said the cocktails were really good and the vibe was awesome. Our bartender was very nice. A lady in the bar needs her phone charged, and the bartender grabbed a phone charger out of his bag, And let her borrow it.

All in all, It was more than I expected to get for the price. Very nice experience.

I expected a little more from a 4-star hotel. I’ve been to a good amount and I think Fairmont was the most disappointing of the bunch.

When we first entered our room as went straight for the huge windows. It was a nice view overall, but then we found a sock behind the mini-bar. We let it go considering it was behind the bar/next to the couch.

The location is great since it’s right near Millennium Park and not far from the Magnificent Mile.

Breakfast was at the hotel’s restaurant, Toro. It was standard breakfast which was very mediocre. Didn’t hate it, but also didn’t like it. Even thought it says we get complimentary breakfast due to booking off Chase it was really a $31 daily credit. Not exactly free considering most of the breakfast items cost about $25 not including coffee/tea.

Also want to point out the daily “Urban Experience Fee” that was tacked on in addition to the price I thought I was paying so that wasn’t great. Most of the credits you get from the fee was not helpful. The $15 credit for food helped offset the breakfast at least.

Clean, friendly check-in. By midnight we couldn’t handle the screaming child in an adjoining room. Front desk listened to recording for 2 seconds before promptly giving us a new room. We went from 32nd to 22nd floor tho. City view to partial view of MDaley Park.

Hotel Restaurant was not equipped to handle their offered breakfast package. 2nd morning we opted to get ours “to go” since we couldn’t be seated by end of breakfast (an hour before end). They forgot parts of the order and were rude when we returned for them. Ie. toast, which COMES with the order. It was odd.

Due to the midnight changing of rooms, the day before check-out, we asked for a late check-out (which our status includes) and were told to ask again in the morning. So we got up earlier than intended just in case they didn’t grant it. They offered to charge us for late check-out until we reminded them it’s included in our status. They then offered 1 hour which happens to be the shortest time we’ve ever been offered especially with the hotel not near capacity.

The hotel is beautiful and clean. Most of the employees we encountered were very polite and efficient. We would stay here again despite the bumps in this particular stay.

Location of hotel is good. Definitely not luxury/resort feel. Food at the hotel is okay (pricing is good, but lacking a lot in flavor). The hostess at the restaurant didn’t want to seat us (even though it was empty) and told us that we should just go somewhere else or at the lobby bar. The lobby host was nice and got us our food. Room linens were dirty. I reported the issue when we arrived, but the sheets didn’t get changed until our last day. Very disappointing. Most of the staff at the front desk was rude and/or failed to meet my needs.

The facilities were a bit outdated. I requested a crib to put the baby to sleep, but it was very dirty, which was disappointing. Other than that, the view was nice, with Millennium Park visible between the buildings, and the location was good.

This is one of the most delightful hotels I’ve stayed at. It was greeted every time I came to the hotel. Every employee treated me with kindness. The lobby was stunning (they were putting up Christmas decorations) and there was plenty of lounge type seating for me to enjoy a quiet moment outside of my room. My room on the 36th floor was lovely. Large bathroom with a separate tub and shower. I loved it.

This is what a hotel is supposed to feel like. Not like a chain, not transactional, but delightful!

DO NOT EAT HERE! I took my husband here for his birthday and it was not a great experience. Yes, we were seated right away. The decor and modern feel makes this place look like it has potential to knock your party out of this world, but that's the best part. It took 20 minutes for our table to be waited on and we were the only group in the place. We ordered our food and waited from 45-60 minutes before food was served. When the food came, some of it was cold others over cooked. Everyone was upset. They attempted to provide us Champagne for a toast, but the champagne tasted bad as well. Most of the glasses we left completely full on the table. Overall, it was a bad experience. DO NOT GO HERE.
