Stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Pudong for a night during the Chinese New Year. Even though I usually prefer newer hotels, the Ritz's unique charm convinced me. The check-in process was a pleasant surprise

When we first arrived we were a bit worried about the construction close by but it turned out to be PERFECT. We were so central, the staff were amazing and the bar near by Wolfpak was a perfect European themed bar

The hotel is within walking distance from the Bund and Nanjing Road. The check-in staff are friendly and speak English. The heating system is very effective, even when the temperature outside drops to below zero.

This is not the fault of the hotel but our floor seemed to have either a Mexican or Spanish tour group staying on it and they were incredibly noisy and disrespectful shouting screaming and slamming doors late at night and very early in the morning
