Golden Star Beach in Protaras

An excellent no frills hotel that suited our needs to the full. We chose to self cater using a one bed superior apartment and the huge plus was being on the top floor with a massive balcony which guarantees all day sunshine. The cleaning staff were keen and efficient throughout. Washing and drying machines in the basement was another plus and only 4 Euros a wash. The only downside was out of the hotels hands and that was unsupervised children being allowed to run and play ball around other guests attempting to sun baths in peace!!! Their parents watched on without any thought for other guests. Despite the latter I would happily book again, Room 505 is recommended and Jet2 prices are reasonable to say the least.

My review of the golden star hotel located in Protaras, Cyprus I came here on the 8th of April 2026 I am going to list down the good and the bad things about this hotel in sections. All reviews about the room is for room 122, other rooms may differ All of these reviews are my personal opinion, you may not think that some of the things I think is good is good in your opinion. Good: * The place is rather clean from first appearance * The view from my balcony is rather brilliant * Room comes with free bag of lays original * Went out for a walk once and found 66 cats as there is a cat bench near the hotel Bad: * A little step at the room door sometimes causing you to trip * Foot bit doesn't work on my room's bin * The glass on the tables in my room were a bit slippery * A bit of wood in my room's bedroom on the right side of the bed in the bedroom was chipped off * Wi-Fi in the room is unpredictable, sometimes being brilliant and sometimes just no internet.

Very spacious, hotel right on the beach front so easy to get to either promenade and walking to pubs and restraunts. Kitchen is good has microwave hob and fridge/freezer. Would of been better with oven of some sort. Has hair dryer big mirror for getting ready. Choice of 2 pools and kids pool. Near to a shop at the front of the hotel as a separate building. We've come 3 times now never had a bad experience.

You get what you pay for, it's a 3 star 🌟 hotel and I'd say it's that on the nail, clean tidy basis rooms but we don't spend long in the rooms, the pools were clean and tidy, all was as you would expect.

The wifi is also 10/10 fast and great range.

We enjoyed our stay at the Golden star, family of 2 adults, two teenagers . Reception staff were friendly and also the bar staff location is great very near the beach and some nice beach bars. Beach was very rocky to enter the sea. The family room we had was a good size teenagers had their own beds in the lounge area. Kitchen was useful and had everything we needed. The only downside was the temperature of the swimming pools. They were absolutely freezing so we didn’t use them more than once. I understand a cold pool when you visit in October but it’s a shame they can’t heat a little just to take the edge off. The small football area was very useful for the children although the metal fencing around it would puncture our footballs on many occasions. I’m sure the local shops kept well stocked on footballs for this reason.😁 we stayed for nine nights and I think there was only two days when there was no cleaning service. On the days our room was cleaned she did a great job thank you. Lots of bars, restaurants and tribute acts a few minutes walk away we made use of these every evening. Hotel shop was reasonable and well stocked. Visited Protaras to take it off the list of places in Cyprus but you can’t beat Nissi Beach. 🏝️

Lovely hotel. Great for all age groups. Clean and practically on the beach. 5 minutes walk to main strip. Will be back 2026
