Golden Star Beach Hotel in Protaras

You get what you pay for, it's a 3 star 🌟 hotel and I'd say it's that on the nail, clean tidy basis rooms but we don't spend long in the rooms, the pools were clean and tidy, all was as you would expect.

The wifi is also 10/10 fast and great range.

Fab wee hotel. Right on the beach, handy for loads to do.

Good hotel right on the beach and next to a little harbour, not to far from bars just a 2min bus ride .

Located perfectly for local activities, restaurants, and bars (all within a 5-10 minute walks). It has two pools one smaller than the other but both equally as nice and close to the pool bar which serves drinks and food with the option to take away to have at your sun bed. No different to any other hotel, but you need to be down early morning to be in with a chance of getting decent sun beds by the pool or those beds that get the sun all day. Or, the better option (in my opinion) is going into the beach which is less than a two minute walk from the hotel. Beautiful beach and beautiful clear water to swim in. However, there is cost for the beds on the beach. It cost us €15 a day for 4 beds, 2 small tables and 2 umbrellas (we thought this was decent price compared to other places we’ve visited where we’ve paid double that). Again, you do need to be down there early to get a good spot (when I say a good spot I mean closer to the sea) as it gets busy especially at weekends where you will see the local people make the most of their beautiful beaches. There is also a water sports place which we used for a few activities with the kids which was great fun. Staff were friendly and again hassle free and professional.
The hotel rooms are a little outdated and we found that perhaps cleaning hadn’t taken place under the beds from the previous visitors, but the rest of the room was clean and so were the beds, comfy too and cleaners come round most days.
We went self catering as we like to eat local foods when on holiday so unfortunately I can’t comment on the hotel food.
There is a small supermarket in front of the hotel which is really useful, and again with friendly staff. They sell freshly made bread, buns and pastries which are really nice and can be a good option for a bit of breakfast or treat.
The Carpark isn’t very big but we never saw it more than a quarter full in the two weeks we were there. We hired a 4 seater buggy which we parked in the car park and it was easy to access and hassle free. Hotel staff were a little hit and miss, some polite, helpful and friendly and others not so much.
There is also a place across from the hotel that sells ice cream, very nice ice cream I should add which is reasonably priced and is very popular so be prepared to queue at busy times, mainly in the evening.
Perhaps one downfall to the hotel (for some people anyway) is that the hotel doesn’t provide any entertainment at all.
Overall, my wife and I and our two 12 and 14 year old children had a great experience and holiday and we would return.
