Hotel am Berg in Frankfurt am Main

From the outside, the hotel looks very inviting: a stately building with old Frankfurt charm. The interior also has a certain atmosphere, almost antique, with large rooms and furniture that is reminiscent of the 1950s. If you like that sort of thing, you might find it just the right place. My room, however, was in the basement, accessible via several corners and a somewhat gloomy anteroom. While it had its own character, it felt very dated overall. The bathroom felt makeshift, almost as if it had been redecorated for a family gathering. My biggest criticism, however, was the bed: as old as the rest of the furnishings, with a simple spring construction and far too soft. Not really suitable for a restful sleep. Perhaps this is because I'm more accustomed to modern business hotels. In conclusion: If you're looking for nostalgic charm and antique flair, this is the place for you. But if you value modern comfort and a good night's sleep, you should probably choose an alternative.

This is an old school hotel in the heart of south Frankfurt. It’s definitely quirky with original furniture from decades ago. The room was clean and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The weather was pleasant so we kept the windows open. Not sure if there is AC in the rooms or not. Don’t go if your expectations are for a modern room. The staff was pleasant. Reserved the room because of the reviews of the German style breakfast. Didn’t realize the breakfast was an extra charge, so opted not to get it. Great location for exploring the city. Less than 10 minute walk to the Sud Bahnhof. Restaurants and stores within walking distance. The neighborhood is quiet at night.

An overnight stay. Spent little time in the room which was very basic.

As always, had a beautiful room and a wonderful stay. Breakfast was lovely and definitely worth the price. Everytime i come to Frankfurt I book my stay here.

What an absolutely gorgeous hotel. Post war, but with old world charm. Huge ceilings, floor to ceiling windows and a balcony. Our room was giant. Beds were comfortable. The breakfast is an extra fee but worth it. Delicious and plentiful with lots of healthy options as well as the usual meats and cheeses. It’s a half hour walk from old town so if that’s your jam, you never have to take public transit.

Our room, the Jungle Room, was delightful and comfy. The breakfast was amazing and such a great value. The stairway is beautifully polished and well decorated but steep so watch your step!

No elevator but otherwise great!
The location is amazing. Close to the train station and in the heart of sachsenhausen walking distance from a lot of great restaurants and bars. I loved the old house charm and decor with really quaint wall papers. The only issue is there is no elevator. So not great for older people, people with disabilities or if you have lots of luggage unless you can get a room on the ground floor. Even the entrance is not wheel chair accessible as there are a set of steps to get in.

Lovely stay
We quite enjoyed our stay at hotel am berg. If you don't mind a trek uphill at the end of your day, it's a wonderful place to stay. Comfy beds, great water pressure, and a tasty & large breakfast (optional, €15 each). The folks working there did speak English which made things a bit easier. They were very accommodating, even letting us borrow silverware when we brought food back to the room. There's plenty of food options in the surrounding area, including a small market. Very clean, the room was serviced daily, too.

Only a one night stay, on our way home from Erfurt but a very quaint hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room had a very interesting Chinese theme and as it was so warm on our visit I was pleased that we had a window that opened wide enough for good ventelation. The Am Berg is within walking distance to the Sudbahnhof, which is very handy.
