Unfortunately, my stay was a very bad experience. From the moment I entered the room, it was clear that it had not been properly cleaned. The floors were dirty, and the bathroom had serious hygiene issues. I took photos, and they clearly show the condition of the room.

The bed sheets and towels were not clean, and there were stains and an unpleasant smell in the bathroom. Staying under these conditions was extremely uncomfortable.

When I reported the issue to the reception, the elderly woman at the front desk showed no interest at all. Despite clearly explaining the situation, I was met with an indifferent attitude, and no solution was offered. I did not feel taken seriously.

For the price paid, this was not acceptable. If cleanliness and customer service are important to you, I strongly recommend staying away. The photos speak for themselves.

Parking wasn’t as easy as I had thought it would be. We were able to park on curb for free Sunday but were told we might get a ticket on Monday. We didn’t.

A really nice traditional hotel, great city center location, a decent breakfast, Nicely appointed rooms, a few minor issues with the fixtures but nothing that detracted from the enjoyment of our stay, well priced. Highly recommended.

I stayed at Bucholz Downtown Hotel during my recent visit to Cologne for the Christmas Markets. The hotel is very conveniently located near the HBF and near the walking path along the river. The hotel breakfast was very nice...not extensive but a nice way to start you day and served by a friendly staff. The hotel is older and a bit dated but clean with good mechanicals. I am a solo female traveler...the street was a bit dark for me at night when walking alone. Also, the hotel desk is not staffed overnight. I would recommend this hotel but I do not think it is appropriate for older, solo female travelers. Enjoy and safe travels!

Great location for Christmas market visit
Very convenient location, one block from the river, a 10-13 minute walk to the train station, the cathedral and art museum. There were 4-5 Christmas markets within walking distance of the hotel.

The breakfast was served in a beautifully decorated breakfast room. It was a typical German breakfast, a substantial continental breakfast.

The bathroom was very clean and had a large and excellent shower with plenty of hard water. The bed was comfortable although might be hard for some.

There is free wifi but it wasn’t always a good signal. It is a small hotel and, although there is an elevator, most of the rooms require going up or down about 10 steps. Room 20 and 16 (I believe) are on the same floor as the elevator.

We stayed there 3 nights and we really loved it! The hotel has really nice spacious rooms, comfy beds and is spotlessly clean. It's also really close to the train station, cathedral and centre of Cologne.
An extra bonus is definitely the super tasty breakfast and friendly staff!

A small boutique hotel about 6mins walk from main station on quiet side of town. There are a few steps from street to reception entry. There is a tiny lift that can fit two person or one person with a suitcase. We stayed in a room on third floor so was happy there is a lift there. The WiFi wasn’t working in the room on the days we were there, which was very inconvenient. There is no kettle and no hair dryer in room. But was happy with bottle of free water provided in room. Overall, satisfied stay.

About as central as you get in Cologne
Lovely hotel very central to Cologne, about 10m walk to train station. Room large, clean but no kettle or iron. Arrived late so had to get key from lockbox which was not easy as it was dark

The hotel was well located near the Rhein and a short walk to railway station . We spent four nights. Our room was spacious, with a desk , two sitting chairs and had a separate sitting area . The bathroom was a generous size with quality fittings. The breakfast was excellent. We had a selection of muesli, fruit, boiled eggs and bread, juice and in addition we were given a plate of cold meats and cheese to our table. The security was good - and had a separate key to the front door. There is a small bar but we did not use it. There were several restaurants very close by that were convenient for an easy dinner.
