Hotel Freiheit in Koln

The hotel is beautifully located. Close the city centre. It's clean and has nice decor. However, my room was super cold.

Very friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Convenient location to sites, dining and local transportation as well as easy distance to the main train station.

Lovely rooms but a lot of noise from road

Hidden in plain sight is this unexpected gem of a hotel. Located on the other side of the Rhine, near the beautiful Deutzer Brücke. Next to tram 7 that takes you straight to Dom and city center in 5 minutes. The hotel is run by people with clearly a passion for hospitality, service and style. The hotel is filled with art and personally collected treasures: paintings, sculptures, photography, art nouveau lamps, pop-art images and scale models. We loved the atmosphere of this place! Our room (25) was perfectly clean. Little balcony with morning sun and nice biew. In the room a surprisingly huge Samsung screen that has mirror-your-phone feature. Bed was large enough for us (we are 1.90 and 1.80 tall) and the duvets and pillows are of a dreamy, cloudy fluffyness, it will make you want to stay in bed forever! Don't do it though 😉 because you don't want to miss the breakfast: you have a view on the Dom while enjoying it. There is a rich, fresh, high quality breakfast buffet (cereals, nuts, fruits, German specialty bread, pastry galore, dairy, meat, eggs, plus, what I love: handmade cappuccino from a classic Cimbali coffee machine). (NOTE: breakfast is included in the room price, don't fight it, just sit back and enjoy this as part of the service!) And then take your funky coffee and gentrification-style cinnamon-bun later 😁, in a hipster coffee place because Cologne has many of those too. What surprised us too, was the silence at night in the hotel, it is so quiet - even with kermis/funfair happening during our stay in front of hotel!) that our earplugs stayed in our suitcase ;-) If you are looking for a personal-style hotel, quiet, conveniently located, comfortable and friendly, this is your place to be. We will be back 🙌

The hotel is located conveniently: next to tram stop 1, 9, 7 so you can be at the Dom and Ludwig museum (= art candyshop for modern art lovers with Picasso, Dali, Miro, Rothko, Chagall! Beckmann, Man Ray!) in a few minutes. Better to walk the Deutzer bridge and enjoy the amazing Rhine view in morning sunlight ❤️

Convenient hotel in the centre and especially at the Ganescom! Everything clean and perfect! Hearty and varied breakfast. Restaurants and clubs are a 5-minute walk away. I would particularly like to thank Marinella who was very kind to me and my son!
