Situated in the Altstadt-Nord district, Hotel Merian is a short 2-minute walk from Cologne Central Station (Köln Hbf) and less than 10 minutes on foot from the Cologne Cathedral. This is the kind of hotel I am looking for and I highly recommend to anyone who is searching for an affordable stay in the heart of Cologne city.

It had a homey feel, and as the reviews said, there was no elevator. The showers and toilets were clean. When I returned after checking out and leaving my luggage, there was no one at the reception desk. I pressed the doorbell several times but couldn't get in, so I waited for a few minutes and someone came, which made me anxious.

Convenient location not far from the main railway station. Good to have 24 hour reception available. Staff were polite and helpful.

The property is very close to the Hauptbanhof, Rhine River and DOM. Staff was very friendly and the property was clean. Not the nicest neighborhood but a very traditional German Urban hotel.

Spacious rooms, near the station and cathedral at the river bank. It was very warm. Key to the room was obtained from a locker at the door. Can be noisy from people outside but closing the windows reduces the sound sufficient.

The location is amazing, right in the city centre. The rooms are clean but quite hot and there is a lot of noise from the street next to the hotel and de cafes. It is a contactless check in and for the majority of our stay we didn't see any staff. Only with the check out. The person who was handeling the checkout was not very nice, they didn't communicate and was quite grumpy.

It's not a fancy shamancy hotel, but the location is wonderful, really close to the Central Station. The rooms are big, breakfast is regular European breakfast. One thing to note, if you're sensitive to noises they don't have a good noise isolation.

Excellent hotel if your visiting cologne for the weekend. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Rooms are spacious and modernized. For the price this was a great stay. Only downside is that it is about 7km outside of the city center but that can be a plus for some people aswell.

Hotel Wilms is a very nice hotel just outside the city centre of Cologne. It is 20 minutes by bicycle to the Kölner Dom, and at 2 minutes walk there is a tram going to the city centre. The staff were very kind and helped us store our luggage. We had a lot of luggage so it was helpful that they chose a nice room for us without having to use the stairs. The photo shows a bakery at the station near this hotel.

Pros- Comfortable mattress and bed, late night check in possible, natural juice served with breakfast. Cons- The rooms look outdated, poor light in the room, lots of noise from the motorway, small shower cabin, poor breakfast, no fridge.

I stayed here while traveling solo around Eastern Europe. The room was clean and simple. However, the entrance hall had a huge horse statue hanging from the ceiling, which was a unique and interesting touch. The hotel is a little far from the station, but I liked the beautiful street it was on.

It was good to stay here, everything was good, location was okay, close the transportation, but one problem was there is no elevator. I recommend to stay here.

The hotel is in a really nice location, everything is clean and proper and you're surrounded by food options while still being calm and cozy at night. there is no airco or fans though so if your stay is in the middle of a heatwave you will be uncomfortable.

The manager was very friendly, easy locatio right by the train with lots around for food/drinks. We had a fridge in the room, the rooms were very clean and honestly that was probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. It was the best sleep I've had my trip so far. For the cost and trying to get to the Christmas markets, this was easily walkable and good price point.

The only drawback is that it's not worth the price. Shampoo and bottled water aren't provided. There's no hairdryer. Otherwise, it's fine for an overnight stay. It's about a 15-minute walk to the main tourist attractions.

I stayed at this hotel in Cologne and overall had a very good experience. The room was relatively small, but it was clean and well maintained. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful with anything I needed, which made the stay much more comfortable. The only thing I would have preferred is a small fridge in the room, as it would have been really convenient.

The location is excellent. There's a large supermarket nearby, which is convenient. The underground parking lot is easily accessible. While parking is paid, you can get a small discount if you pay at the hotel. The breakfast is simple but excellent, and the staff is very friendly.

Located in the suburbs, it's conveniently located by car, with several multi-story parking garages nearby. However, there aren't many restaurants or shops in the area. The lobby is decent, with a common area where you can sit and chat. Breakfast is rather basic, with limited variety. There aren't many types of ham, but there's plenty of bread and coffee. Dessert options are also scarce.

Excellent location, just a few hundred meters from the church. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The family room was very spacious and easily accommodated our family of four. Breakfast was delicious, and parking was convenient. We will definitely come back.

The service is great but the cleanliness needs to improves, a shampoo from the previous occupants is still in the bathroom, and the room is pretty old. The worse thing is no aircon as the climate is still considered cold and it's control by a central system so the room is warm and stuffy. Open the window for some cool air but it was so noisy.

Just sleep, clean and hygienic

The reception staff were kind and helpful, breakfast was good, the environment was clean and hygienic, the restaurant/room was clean, there were long hairs on the bed, the sink could have been cleaner. The only shortcomings in the room were: no drinking water (a bottle would have been nice), no slippers, no heater, no minibar, I felt like I was just passing through the room, there were glasses but...

Apart from the lack of parking and the costs, everything was more than fine.

The name Cologne Trade Fair was somewhat misleading, but we still reached our desired destinations without any problems.

The humiliating treatment I received from the receptionist, forcing me to sit on the sofa like a small child, threatening to call the police and other displays of superiority, mean that I do not like a hotel that allows this. We booked a family room for 3 people, but it was extremely small with no space to move around. The bathroom was also very small, and the shower was so tight you couldn’t even turn around. The breakfast area felt the same — when all tables were occupied, it was very difficult to walk through. Overall, everything in this hotel feels “mini” sized.
