Sydney
I am not one to bash hostels because it’s, well a hostel…
This is hands down the worst I’ve been to and I’ve been to a lot while traveling all over Europe, Middle East, and the UK. I first went to the wrong place (my fault) and then there’s no way to get into the hostel. Granted it DID say online, no one will be there from 14:00-19:00 (Greece is known to take breaks). The manager never gave us the door code. Thankfully there’s ONE person who knows it. The hostel is super cool, BUT there’s one fan per room that’s filled with 8+people. One person got a bed and later in the night (midnight) someone was in their bed. Then, today, I made sure before I left to have my clothes and make it look like Someone was there. Well, I came back in the evening and someone else things are on my bed AND my clothes are missing!!!! Not okay. Thankfully I got another room but I one communicates. I felt a bit violated to be honest and my water bottle was gone.
The manager is on edge and made us all very uncomfortable to be around him.
I know people have stayed here years ago and had a much better experience (there was someone else in charge during their stay?). Seems unorganized and if you can’t get back into the hostel you’re paying for that’s quite a shame and dysfunctional. Don’t stay here unless you’re in a pickle… it’ll do but you’ll probably be grumpy in the morning. Haha
Oh and no lockets that’ that I’m aware of. No locks on the doors 2/5 lock
Perks: It’s in a great location
Good luck

My intention with this post is a wake up call to the owner. And also to make a recommendation to anyone thinking of staying here to go elsewhere …

Disgraceful

A VIOLATION of the contract and health. I found the owners communication to me very hostile. We arrived late at night and the damp in his other hostel room created a heaviness in our lungs. We came to this hostel with him and decided we didn’t want to stay and wanted to be refunded. He began to shout at me that I have a problem and walked away refusing to give a refund.

i would stay pay an extra premium to stay elsewhere. Not Hippie Hostel or Chania Hostel - even sleeping on the beach in a tent I would recommend more.

Authentic experience of a local old hostel. Nothing fancy at all even for hostel standard. Location is great and has kitchen which is quite helpful. Staff are very friendly and good breakfast.

Book another hostel, eg Boho or Kumba hostel. City hostel was very dirty, incredibly loud (75 db in the room because the main street is right in front of the house and next to an open air cinema) and over 30 degrees Celsius in the room without air conditioning. The boss is incredibly rude and doesn't speak a single word of English. This was the worst hostel I've ever been to.

First off, all the reviews about bed bugs seem outdated. I stayed in the downstairs room next to the patio and had no insects bother me at night. Everything was actually pretty clean.

I had a fantastic time at this place. It's a classic hostel experience with a great patio to hang out and meet people. There was a really nice, sociable and welcoming crowd and I made lots of new friends. Heleni, who works there, was very sweet and funny and she and her 6yo son would hang out with us sometimes.

The room downstairs (the 4 bed dorm) was incredibly hot and we only had one fan that didn't seem to do very much. The planks fall out from under the top bed if you're not careful. The bathroom door is right next to the beds which is a bit awkward. The only sockets to charge your phone are at the entrance. In contrast to older reviews, they do have lockers (lockable drawers) now.

Check-in was a bit rocky with the owner making phone calls and smoking in his office and making me wait 15 minutes before he checked me in. It wasn't a big problem and he apologised. My friend had some dispute with him about the payment and when the owner realised it was his mistake, he took out a bottle of raki and they spent the evening drinking together!

Oh, despite the signs promoting car rental at the entrance: this place does NOT rent cars.

The breakfast is quite good for a free hostel breakfast! Just don't expect anything too fancy.

Long story short: if you want a back to basic hostel experience, authentic and rough around the edges but a lot of fun, this is the place to go. If you want comfort or the pleasures of modern day travelling, look elsewhere.

Relaxed easy going hostel. Great location and easy access to airport with bus stops outsides. Owner is fantastic and makes you feel at home. Breakfast included during summer months is a great bonus

Very nice house and garden, kitchen in garden. 1 Bathroom for each dorm, clean. Breakfast nice, helpful staff. Of course no AC. Angelika is very helpful.

All I can say that it is a good place. Communication with Angelika was great. I was happy to spend the one night I had.

Riddled with bed bugs. There’s a difference between ignorance and denial, this was niether. The staff knew the place was infested, there are reviews from two weeks ago stating there was a horrible infestation yet they continued to allow people book stays and did not shut down the hostel. When we were arriving, staff was “disinfecting” a bed of a girl who complained and still allowed us to check in after that. Their “Allerg-Stop” certification expired a month ago, yet they left up the signs in all rooms hoping we would mistake the exp. date for the last disinfection date. I spent less than 3 hours in a bed and am covered in bites. Would give 0 stars but it won’t let me post without at least one. Furious. If I could add photos , I would attach them. They have known about it for two weeks , and there version of “doing everything we can” is spraying problem beds (once a day) only from guest who complain , instead of shutting down the entire establishment for fumigation.

Owner was fantastic, friendly, and very interesting to talk to. Hostel was clean and cool. Free breakfast (hard-boiled eggs, toast, yogurt, coffee, orange juice, fruit, etc.) Only one bathroom per dorm. Reasonable prices 15euro. Pretty garden.
Przemyslaw
Charming place, nice garden with beds outside, great location, affordable prices. Loundry machines few steps down the street. Looking forward for next visit!

A very decent hotel within walking distance from the old town (and it's super close to the archeological museum). The interior looks classy and comfy at the same time. My room was very clean and there was a nice welcome gift waiting for me (loukoumi with some local raki). Breakfast was ok smorgasbord style with a rather standard selection of cereals, cold cuts and cheese.

This is a beautiful hotel immaculately clean. The staff were lovely from the reception staff to the cleaner to breakfast staff.
The breakfast was good. The room had a balcony and it was a nice size.
The only complaint for me was there was no coffee, just tea in the room and no ceramic cups they were plastic and I could taste the plastic every time I used them, also no classes for water or wine which is unusual.
The road is very noisy from morning till late at night but didn't bother us too much .
On the whole a very nice hotel

Great hotel!! Friendly and helpful staff, gorgeous sea side views and perfect pen balconies to feel the sea breeze. The street below is very busy and a bit noisy, but the balcony door must be soundproofed because we still slept peacefully, despite the Olympiakos victory on our second to last night here!!! Woo!

We stayed here for a week and the service was lovely from all the staff - the reception staff were always very helpful and the bar/kitchen staff again were friendly and helpful. The room itself was lovely, great bed, nice bathroom, all very clean and high standards. Breakfast was good (vegans had to ask for a milk alternative, but it was available). The one very minor negative was the car parking - but don't let that put you of staying. The hotel is very well located, with easy walking distance to lovely beaches or into the old town for evenings out. Our room even had a sea view!
