Travelled to Debrecen for the first time. The hotel is located at the centre of the city. Very kind and professional staff at the reception and at the restaurant. The room was prepared to perfection. Comfortable beds, good water pressure in the shower and absolutely delicious food and great service at the restaurant. The checkin and checkout was quick and smooth. Will choose Mercure Debrecen again...

Location is great, very central and easy access. Rooms are up to standard that you would expect from an Accor affiliated hotel. Service is poor compared to other 4* hotels and Accor standard.

Everything was very clean. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was very extensive and there was a large selection. We were less satisfied with the evening buffet. There is room for improvement.

No reviews since 2018 . . . let's update things in November 2023. The entire hotel has been beautifully renovated and is worthy of a four star rating. It's a big, busy (in August), probably late socialist-era resort hotel that's actually quite pleasant. And cheap. There's a holiday vibe. For an overnight stay it's excellent and I wouldn't have minded staying longer. I didn't try any of the many "health"/beauty treatments on offer but they're inexpensive. (The lifts/elevators are few and slow.)

The accommodation is really clean and well-organized, and its position in the city center is ideal. Parking is available outside the hotel, but it is slightly more expensive. I always stay here and will stay again on my future trip to Budapest.

We booked a selected family room, which was surprisingly large, equivalent to two suites, each with a bathroom, refrigerator and safe. Overall, it was okay. It's not far from public transportation, but the photos online make it look much better than it actually is. The parking garage is a nightmare to use; you have to drive your car into a very small elevator to get to it, which is absolutely not suitable for larger vehicles.

Overall a very good hotel, we didn’t experience the breakfast as bakery’s (Artizán) are nearby. But the location is spot on. Penny’s (Local store) just around the corner, tram on the next street and approximately 20 min walk or so to arrive at parliament building. This hotel supposedly is a 4 star superior hotel, but I would give it hardly 3 stars. We arrived on a Monday and stayed till Friday. Tuesday late afternoon I informed reception that our room was not cleaned. They sent someone who emptied the 2 bins in the room and - because I asked her - made up the beds. Very, very nice. It was built in the 1830s, as I recall. It is very pretty. Huge garden. Beautiful stained glass windows. An interesting walking path or two. We had a large balcony that was very nice. We were there on night so we did not get to take advantage of everything. I would recommend at least two nights if you want to take advantage of everything available.

Recent three day stay. Great location right across the road from the Metro. Staff were very helpful upon check and during our stay. One thing I must mention is that the breakfast was fantastic. We are planing another trip to Budapest soon and will be staying at the Nemzeti again.

This hotel is perfect. On arrival there was a lovely clean smell around. The rooms were spacious. The windows opened which I like in a hotel. We had an overhead fan too which was silent. We had a mini fridge. This worked well. The beds were comfortable and the bedding very clean . The carpets were so clean.
