The guesthouse is in a very convenient location very close to the golden circle. The rooms are fully equipped and very comfortable. There are plenty of parking spots outside and the rooms are easy to access all day, even late at night. I would definitely recommend it.

Just what we needed! Clean, spacious bathroom, easy check in. It got chilly outside the bed covers and we couldn’t see where to adjust temp, but didn’t disrupt sleeping. Good for a quick night's sleep! A cute and quiet little area with a great restaurant 2 minutes away. Bathroom was clean and beds were comfy. The only downside was all of the towels and bedding smelled like mildew. This place will always hold a special place in my heart though, because it was where I saw the northern lights for the first time in my life!

Pretty much what you’d expect for the usual price, small rooms with run down amenities. The bathroom was fairly large but the shower didn’t drain well. Not really worth it for holiday weekends where the price is higher. We booked for the proximity to the geyser but in hindsight should’ve booked something in Selfoss instead.

Great room to stay in, but unfortunately the walls were very thin so you could hear the neighbours easily. Also the fridge made a lot of noise which even woke me up. The location was fantastic. Check in was easy. Staff seemed to come in regularly and take out the trash and tiddy up the bathrooms. The couch for the third person to sleep on was awful. There was a lot of mold in the shower and the drain didn’t work well. You had to continually shut the water off during your shower so it didn’t flood the bathroom. The room trash was not emptied and there was no indication where you could take it yourself. The humidity was quite high. The traffic noise was reasonably loud.

Great central location and value. You will share a bathroom so make sure you are ok with that. Having a kitchen available was great. Staff was helpful when I needed to speak to them.

Bathroom/Toilet is not as clean as expected

The rooms are clean for a budget hotel but the walls are paper thin. I can hear everytime someone takes a poop and when he goes to the shower or uses the tap. There is only 1 bathroom at every floor with the sink, toilet and shower in the same room so it cannot be used concurrently. This means we have to wait >30mins for each person to poop, then shower etc. You can only imagine what it is like on...

Evrything was good except that apartment had a strong fishy smell that just wouldnt air out in the 3 days we stayed there.

It's OK The room was large and nice accoring to the decription. There was actually everything available what you need. Access to laundry was a nice convenience. Self-check in was simple. Only minor inconvenience was the mini fridge didn't have a freezer section.

I chose this property for the washer dryer. It was a disaster. The circuit kept tripping. Had to make a call. There’s only one set for the whole floor and the dryer never did dry the clothes. I had to hang my clothes all over the apartment. The shower and sink drains were clogged and the night light switch was broken next to bed. Also only one sleeping pillow per person.

Modern apartment near a grocery store and bakery. The unit itself was clean but lacked some amenities. There were no black out curtains so it was bright at night. The shower basin was too small and you had to shut the shower off several times to let it drain so it wouldn’t flood the floor.

Close to the BSI main bus station (airport bus drop off) about 10-15min walk. Self check-in is possible if you arrive late in the evening. I think it's great for groups of friends traveling together. For couples, the room might be a bit basic, but the kitchen and laundry facilities are really convenient, making it perfect for a more budget-friendly trip.

The room was clean and comfortable. The restaurant was super cute. The hot tub was open from 3 PM to 9 PM, not super hot but very relaxing. There's a chance to see the Northern Lights while soaking! Beautiful venue, would highly recommend. Had been doing the ring road in a van that would last couple of days was so wonderful to come into such a cleanup, aesthetic, and calm environment to spend the night again. The breakfast was a big highlight, it's not very often a hotel breakfast tastes like a home cooked meal!

A nice and quiet place in the Selfoss area. We got a free room upgrade. We booked this hotel to stay after finishing the Golden Circle. We saw the northern lights here, after we were notified via a special WhatsApp group.

Really bad reception service, the doors couldn’t be locked from inside or outside. The door was opened by the wind at night. The electrify shouted down at night without knowing any reason then the room became all dark. The air condition is noisy and vibrated all night.

Beautifully located cottages in the heart of Snaefellsness peninsula. The units are nice and functional, with a small but well-equipped kitchen. We did not receive the check-in information in advance (somehow we did not receive the email) so we had to call. Surprised by so many rave reviews, I’d give this place a 3.5 at most. Views are great from the deck (get there by sunset if you can) but the bathroom is not ideal. We stayed here on the first night of our trip and it was perfect!!!!! Relaxing with a cup of coffee on the deck overlooking the landscape was a breathtaking experience, we even got to see a horseback trail ride returning from a mountains tour while we were there. Stayed here with G Adventures tour. This place deserves 5 stars. 1-for the view and landscape, 2- of course the horses, Ba’ra is so proud of her horses, 3-the peacefulness and the serenity surrounding the place, 4-its cozy and clean, 5- the host is very welcoming to all weary travelers.

Stayed a couple of years ago as a client of Arctic Adventures ...it was our base for the holiday and we loved it there. The hosts were fantastic, as was the food and drinks, and horses in stables nearby.

This is one of the most incredible hotels/guest houses I have ever stayed in. Service was incredible, property is gorgeous, and the horses are a wonderful bonus! Highly recommend this guest house if you're traveling through Iceland!

I didn’t expect much staying in our rustic cabin the countryside. But for what they charge – the cabin really was not in great shape. There was broken furniture, the kitchenette barely had any silverware. Views are amazing, Location is great, the people are nice. But at least a nice well maintained cabin would be nice.

Great place for our first night in Iceland! This was our first night in Iceland. We checked in late, however the front desk lady was super friendly and accommodating. The hotel was so comfortable with heating floor system. The breakfast was pretty simple but we appreciated the staff specially prepared the breakfast earlier for us as we need to head out earlier for our glacier excursion. We enjoyed the hot tub very much! We can even saw the glacier from the hotel room! Highly recommended!

We were only planning to stay 1 night but ended up extending twice. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the breakfast was excellent. The breakfast area has stunning views of Hoffellsjokull glacier, as do the amazing hot tubs, which are free to residents. If you want to go to the glacier, it’s about 4 km from the hotel along a river bed, which is only drivable in a 4x4 or you have a reasonable walk....

Beautiful hot tubs overlooking glaciers and a horse farm. There are four spacious hot tubs with access to clean and comfortable amenities. They also have a walk up bar for drinks and such. We spent about two hours soaking in the various tubs and enjoying the scenery. Perfect stop regardless of the weather, a great place to stop if you are in the area!

We arrived in the evening and we had no problem getting our key from the lockbox. The access was very clean and our room had a nice view of the waterfall in the distance. The rooms are spacious and quiet and we did not hear any of the other guests all night. Parking is no problem and there is a convenient gas station next door.

The location is great, but the guesthouse itself is very small and not suitable for a stove in the middle, as the Chinese were frying fish for an hour, and our entire room was filled with a terrible smell. My husband threw up from it; the smell was unbearable. In such a small house, the only thing you can leave is a microwave.

The kitchen facility was clean and handy for making a quick meal or tea. The rooms are clean and updated. The beds were comfortable and the location is near to shopping and food. This has e writhing you need for an overnight stay like ours, or for a couple of days if you are making day trips from this area.

It's an acceptable place for staying one night but nothing charming about it. Rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable. There is one shared kitchen which is too small for all the rooms and was crowded at dinner time. It has a very small dishwasher to leave the dirty dishes in, but in the morning was full and running so all the dishes were laying dirty in the kitchen sink.

We enjoyed your stay at Guesthouse Galtafell. The parking available is free street parking, we went in late February 2026 and had no issue with finding a park close by. Rooms were quiet and safe. Good heating and a large bathroom. On our first night we had issues with the shower water not draining, we emailed and they had it fixed within hours. Very nice guesthouse situated in a quiet area, yet close to central city. Owners contacted us before arrival to instruct about access to our room. When leaving, my daughter forgot her gloves and hat in the room. The owner contacted us and arranged sending the items to Sweden. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Guesthouse Galtafell. It was very clean with great amenities and a spacious bathroom. The hosts are also very kindhearted and let us keep our luggage there post check out while we went on a day trip. Thorey and her husband go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and special.
