Grundarfjordur, Nesvegur 8, 350 Gryundarfordyur, Zapadnaya Islandiya, Islandiya 🧭 Map
Parking was easy and location was good. So many stairs to have to lug up and down heavy luggage. Staff were never seen except briefly at breakfast. Overall, it was okay. Views were good.
Reception was unstaffed so keys just left on counter. No welcome at all. Room itself was comfortable but bathroom was a little tired. Ample off road parking and breakfast sufficient
Bedding not clean, hotel is pretty old. No service like a guesthouse instead of hotel. Shower next to toilet in one tiny bathroom, all wet after shower.
Great place to stay on the Snaefellsnes peninsula! Simple hotel and nothing fancy, but we found it clean, convenient, and quiet for an enjoyable stay. Very close to Kirkjufell, so perfect place to stay if you want to go early in the morning …
Location was minutes away from Kirkjufellsfoss and near a gas station and grocery store. The check in was super easy, just grab your key in the reception. Only problem, there were no check in instructions. Good thing another guest was nice enough to inform us. The room was spacious but the hallway has a bit of a smell. No kitchen but breakfast is available for a fee. Good place to rest for the night...
The room was average. The bathroom was shabby. It was inconvenient to carry luggage up and down. Fortunately, the waiter was very friendly and helped me solve the problem.

Lovely campsite open in the winter! Campers do a self-serve check-in on an iPad at the hotel reception where you can also get a coffee or a drink. The lounge in the reception is open until 2200 if you want to play pool or chess. The parking for campers is around the back of the reception building to the right.
There is a nice WC and shower building close to the parking lot. Everything is very well...
The hotel is located in a charming paradise, surrounded by breathtaking nature. The homemade bread is excellent, and the breakfast is good and varied. The rooms are spacious and very clean. We were also lucky enough to see the Northern Lights! It’s very quiet, and we slept extremely well.
If you are travelling with a campervan on a road trip, and need a campsite to stay, this is great. There is a self-serve kitchen area with all essentials you require along with some extra condiments etc. The lobby also is very nice.
Helpful and friendly staff.. top quality food.. good location
We camped here. This was one of my least favourite campsites on our ring road trip. It really wasn't clear to me where we should park based on the signs. No one was working here when we arrived dinner time to ask any questions so we just did what other campers did. But I still don't think we were all parked in the right place. View was nice from camper.
The common room / kitchen was really well equipped...
Super easy check in. Ate at Hygge which was recommended by the hotel in an email and it was sooooo good! Beds were very comfortable. A little outdated in terms of room furniture, etc but it added to the charm. :)

The hotel is amazing! The room with an ocean view exceeded all our expectations! Everything was clean and the breakfast was delicious – especially the waffles made by Joanna, who made our stay a truly wonderful experience! :) We planned to stay for one night, but ended up staying for two. And we’ll definitely be back! 😁
I was very pleased with the hotel. I got a room with a workspace and a view over Patreksfjörður. The staff was wonderful and gave me a warm welcome. The breakfast was good, always with the scent of freshly baked waffles. I stayed here for a few nights and hardly wanted to leave.
It's a small, cozy, clean hotel with a beautiful view. The rooms are clean, the breakfast is simple but in a great atmosphere. The staff is super helpful.
Hotel West is an absolute gem! The mesmerizing views are breathtaking and made every moment feel special. The hot tub and sauna were the perfect way to relax after a long day, and the staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive. Everything about my stay was wonderful—I can’t wait to come back!
A cozy and clean hotel with friendly owner and staff. Our room had great view of the fjord and mountains on the other side. Great location.

Vik, Slettuvegur, 870 Vik, Yuzhnaya Islandiya, Islandiya 🧭 Map
The room was clean, breakfast was good, and they offered an aurora wake-up service at night, which allowed us to see the Northern Lights.
Stayed for two nights, there was almost no service in between, and the used amenities weren't replenished. Its only function was to be a place to crash on the way. The room given to Chinese guests was terrible, and we only got it changed after demanding it.
Had a great stay at Hotel Kria. There was a free breakfast included which had many options which was a nice start to each day.
The room itself was nice and had plenty of room.
This hotel is located right in Vik, directly across from a supermarket and a large Icewear store – even bigger than the one in Reykjavik, making it great for browsing. It's within walking distance of Vik Church, and the hotel offers an aurora wake-up service. The hotel itself is relatively new, with large floor-to-ceiling windows in both the rooms and the restaurant, offering excellent views. However...
Had a really nice stay here! Well located in Vik and the breakfast is awesome.
Hotel kria is located nearby restaurant, petrol station, and supermarket. Room is clean with great mountain view . Breakfast have many choices and yummy. We catch our northern light here. Recommend 👍🏻

Cute and charming little hotel with clean rooms and a convenient location for exploring town on foot.
Love this stay, was cozy and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious!
Poor value for money
We arrived for check in and given a very comfortable, clean but basic room. Parking was just outside. Only a minor downside, as you will be aware hotels are not good value for money in Iceland, but all the TVs were being upgraded so the current ones didn’t work. For £243 per night for a travel lodge type room, everything should be working. The staff member tried to turn it on...
Great location, free parking, friendly staff.
Breakfast was excellent- lots of choices and everything fresh.
The room was very clean, perfect size with bay views.
We were offered 10% discount on a whale tour which we gladly used.
The hotel is within walking distance from city centre, but at the same time is on a quiet street overlooking the bay.
One of the highlights of our trip to Iceland. The view was amazing, the rooms were fantastic, but Eston was the real gem of our stay. A hotel manager with a passion for the Eurovision Song Contest transformed our stay into a night to remember. My wife and I spent the evening conversing and hearing his stories while we ate delicious lamb soup and drank fun themed cocktails. He also gave us all the info...
The accommodation is located right in front of the port of Husavik and is in a quiet and peaceful location. When we arrived, the hotel was unmanned, but there was a message for us at the front desk and a key, so we were able to go straight to our room. The room was warm and simple with a bed, a small table, and a closet. It would have been nice to have a small fridge to store drinks or skir, but it...

I’d give 4,5/5 but it won’t let me to half to I rounded up, truly incredible, amazing service, comfortable beds, incredible view, nice owner and really good food. We were supposed to leaf at 11 and the owner let us be an hour and a half more since we were going skiing. Really nice tv, first time I’ve been able to watch some tv in a hotel. Very clean, great looking elevator. Great location.
My husband and I loved our stay at Hafdals Hotel! The views were spectacular, overlooking the town lights across the estuary. The room was exceptionally clean, hotel owners were accommodating and kind, and breakfast was simple but delicious. In this 10 room hotel, it was quiet and easy to get to - only about 5 minutes from Forest Lagoon and a quick 10 minute drive to downtown Akureyri. We had a 10...
This is a fantastic no-frills option across the fjord from Akureyri. The room was exceptionally clean, and we made good use of the refrigerator and coffee maker. The floors of the bathroom were heated, which was an extra nice touch. The views are all stunning, from every room, as you look across the river delta. It’s about a 10 minute drive to downtown and just a few minutes by car to the Forest Lagoon...
Located on a hill opposite downtown Akureyri, the view is breathtaking. The hotel is quite stylish, and the elevator is new, making it a nice place. It was the first time I've seen small bottles of shampoo and conditioner in an Icelandic hotel, which was quite surprising. The breakfast was also very generous, with delicious local boxed yogurt! I even saw a robotic lawn mower in action, which was a...
We really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful views. Check-in time is firm. Owner does all duties (check-in, clean, breakfast, lawn care, etc.) Room was very clean! Serves a cold breakfast.
If I have one pet peeve, there was very small bottles of body wash/shampoo, only for one time use. Instead of a large refill bottle.
We'd stay there again! Highly recommend.
Picked this hotel because of the location just outside of Akureyri. The host was very friendly and always happy to make recommendations. He was very knowledgeable about the area and gave good advice about places to go.
The room was very good, with amazing views across the fjord looking towards the airport and town.
To get into town, you need a car but the Forest Lagoon is walkable albeit a climb back...

The room was relatively clean, the location was convenient, it was close to the airport, and taxis were easy to get. The app also had some improvements. Overall, it was acceptable; after all, European service is different from Asian service.
Quiet & clean hotel. You check yourself in if late. Ignore the negative reviews. Hotel was clean and staff was friendly. I would stay here again!
It was very beautiful and the environment was great! I want to go again!
Staff was exceptionally helpful when our converter shorted the electricity in our room.
Place has a nice vibe.
Must be safe in the area since key was left on counter.
Couple of nice bars nearby.
Short but nice stay.
We just stayed one night as we had a layover. We look for a hotel close to the airport to reduce the cost of transport. This was about 10min from the airport but still cost $47cdn. There was no front desk staff but our paperwork and key we at the front desk waiting for us. We had a nice breakfast before we left back to the airport.
This was an easy, no frills spot to stay a night ahead of our flight out of Keflavik. Check in and check out we're all self-serve and easy.

Nice bungalows at the in northern Iceland. Functional design and clean. Good for 4 people otherwise it is very tiny. The view and outdoor hottub are perfect to relax.
A friend and I stayed here so we could attend a festival in Siglufjörður and during our stay we had to complete some remote work as well.
We were welcomed by two lovely ladies at the reception who made sure that we were in need of nothing! We made good use of all the common areas and had the coffee making machine work overtime! And even though we had to work during vacation we had a wonderful time...
Nice spot for a quick over night . Owner was very attentive and made us feel secure and welcome.
We were welcomed by two young women who could not have been friendlier. Amazingly, we quickly established rapport thru common interests, common travel experiences, etc. We must have visited with them for 20 min before heading to our room. The next morning, they were not immediately on duty, but when we left about 9:30AM or so, they made a special trip out to the parking lot to see us off. This...
Very clean, confortable and pratical. The staff is particularly friendly and nice. A great place to stay if you want to explore and go whale watching in the North of Iceland.
This is a unique property. The full kitchen is available for travelers to use to cook their dinner. If we had known, we would have brought some food to cook. Rooms were nice but there is a flight of stairs for all rooms. Keep that in mind. Nice laundry facilities which we made use of. Nice common sitting areas where we chatted with other travelers. Stayed here for one night when our flight got cancelled. It was an amazing stay. The two guys who worked at the front desk were really nice and accommodating. They got everyone in in a timely manner (there were lots of people) and were kind even when people were disrespectful. They brought us food even though it was very late. They went above and beyond for everyone who stayed here. If I come back...
I'm giving 3.5 points to the male receptionist for his excellent service. He was always proactive in asking if I needed help when he saw I had a problem. When my room's heating wasn't working, even though he was busy, he first sent a colleague to check it out (though that person was pretty dismissive, just telling me to wait and that it would heat up soon 🙄). As soon as he was done with his other tasks...
Booked a fly and drive in iceland
and this was our hotel on the 25th of december.
For some reason our booking agency canceled our reservation so we would not have a room on the first day of christmas.
But the owner helped us anyway, and gave us a room! What a Chad!
Rooms are decent, and the bathroom was great.
Breakfast was also really good.
A fantastic stay at Hotel Borgarnes! The rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with everything you need for a relaxing visit. The staff are welcoming and attentive, making the experience even better. Great location with easy access to local attractions and stunning Icelandic landscapes. Perfect for a peaceful and enjoyable stay in Borgarnes. Highly recommend!
Great hotel. Clean . Helpful Staff. It's a 20 minute walk to town food area. Rooms comfortable. Northern Lights view from the hotel property if they are active.
Basic rooms with an excellent shower and comfy beds. We missed dinner but believe it was excellent as well. Decent spread for breakfast. No cappuccino machine. But have coffee. Excellent stop over to the north. Special mention to Mario at the reception who made an extra effort and very hospitable. Will def stop over again, when we come next to iceland.

Easy to find. Good breakfast. Close to excellent horse riding facility. Can get road noise. Easy parking. Friendly staff
Superb and professional service. Big thank you to Wiloetta and Mateusz for making our stay so pleasant. They were very kind. Evening food was very good, perfectly cooked meat, thanks to the lady chef from Poland. Room was clean and cosy. Hotel itself well looked after. One thing about the breakfast selection, it's missing fruits. Overall top noch 👌
Lovely hotel on the Ring Road, which was extremely convenient. Room was spacious with a view of mountain in back and neighbor’s house (and greenhouse!). A shop with hand-made items is adjacent by a gas station, which was a fun stop. Breakfast had more options than most others that we experienced, and the elevator was also very convenient.
The rooms are a bit tired. That said, the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was adequate, and the staff was friendly. Basic accommodations but for one night it was no problem.
We enjoyed our one night stay in June. Yes the place looks a bit older, but we were very happy and comfortable. Staff was excellent and friendly. Breakfast was good. I wish we would have eaten dinner there. It looked and smelled so good. (we ate at the local convenience store). Nice town, wonderful people, I'd stay there again
The location was very convenient and the room was comfortable. The only reason I gave one star off for comfort is because our room was directly above the entry door and people hung out below, and it was a little loud at times other than that it was a wonderful experience with delicious food at the restaurant. I would stay here again.

Great location, free on-street parking. They had a hair dryer and it was comfortable.
It was in a quiet residential area, and it felt safe.
We were looking for a cheaper option in the city. The hotel was adequate, but with the limited rooms there was no staff to support. Door “keys” are punch codes, which were not responsive, it took many attempts with the codes to get into our room each time. Easy drive to downtown tourist area.
It was like a DIY motel with no one on duty most of the day. You had to have a code to enter. I called ahead about early check in and was told it would depend on availability. However when we got there, no one was there and we couldn't use our code at the entrance until exactly 3:00.

Great value for money, clean facilities, and a good location.
It’s really cozy and they have their restaurant. The room is so clean and cozy. They also have sheep’s goats and Icelandic horse that you can visit.
Check-in was at the restaurant counter, and check-in times are the same as the restaurant's operating hours. The automated email stated a shorter check-in window, but I called and confirmed that you can check in anytime before the restaurant closes. The room was huge and beautiful, with a kitchen and living room. Each room is a standalone house, and all the amenities are great. The privacy is excellent...
Perfect service, location is beyond, food for watching the northern light!
The rooms are amazing, the beds are really comfortable and everything is very modern. We arrived late at night and were still able to check in so that removed a lot of the pressure for us on the road.
This was a gem in the region. We booked this last minute on our day in the Snæfellsnes peninsula and boy was it a good choice. This was a unique stay, giving off a camping vibe. I was surprised there wasn't any staff on-site to greet us. Instead, they left the key in a common area for self check-in, and there's a number to call for assistance, so definitely have a phone plan with calls included. The common area was clean, with unlimited self-service coffee and hot water. It would be absolutely stunning if the sky were clear...
Staying at Aurora Igloo was one of the highlights of my trip to Iceland. Even in winter, the igloo was cozy and warm, with three heaters inside. I booked the igloo with private bathroom, which was spacious and well-equipped. Check-in was easy and the hosts responsive when contacted. I would definitely recommend stopping for a night here on your south coast adventure!
I spent one night here in January, luckily, we managed to catch the northern lights as the location is great to see the auroras. the igloos are very clean cosy and warm, and the toilet and shower facilities were very clean too. thoroughly enjoyed my night there, would deffo go back x
It was a bit pricey, but it was the most special accommodation of my life.
I don't know if we got lucky or not, but watching the northern lights dance all over the sky while sitting inside our warm clear igloo was incredible. Comfortable beds, easy check in. No complaints. Also id say if you can spend the extra money, they private shower igloo is well worth the cost. If you don't want to pay the extra its still plenty worth going to. Truly incredible experience.
This place is amazing!
We spent one night in an igloo with shared bathrooms. The bathrooms were clean and nice, it was so great to have a coffee and tea after a freezing day.
The bed heater was a great feature of the room, it was nice and cozy to see the northern lights from bed. Like a fairy tale :)

Beautiful hotel in a great location. Dinner was delicious and great breakfast selection. Hotel host was kind and helpful!
The hotel is located a long (but beautiful) drive down a gravel, pothole-ridden road but you truly feel away from it all out here. Super quiet, no crowds (encountered more sheep here than people), and very authentically Iceland. Accommodations are rustic, but still comfortable and had everything we needed. We appreciated the spaciousness of the room. Dinner, while you get no choices, was a tasty home...
This was one of the best views in a hotel that i have ever had. It is so peaceful and truely reflects tbe icelandic way of life. Excellent service and management. This is a must stay for those seeking an icelandic way of life ecperience. Defenitely worth the drive!
a fantastic time, easy to check-in and all was smooth. Clean place and even cleaned my room after the first night (of a 2-night stay)

Great place to stay on an Iceland roadtrip
The food from the restaurant is good, definitely above the average. The price is also reasonable
Great breakfast but the hotel itself looks really scary in the night. There were no lights at the hallway in the morning and worse in the night
It’s not easy to find a hotel in Iceland, and I feel like you get what you pay for. This one is considered cheap.
One thing this place didn't do well was the poor WiFi signal in the room I was in. Because the mobile signal was very poor, we had to rely on WiFi. But in the whole room, only the doorway can be connected. When needed, we had to sit at the door as shown in the photo to access the internet
The hotel was clean and the service was great. We really enjoyed the breakfast as they had a variety of options, including home-made goods. Would definitely recommend!
Parking area is spacious, easy to park. Hotel is located near to tourist spot Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. About 10 mins drive. Hotel buffet breakfast is very good. Alot of handmade cookies and cakes, fresh fruits and local meal. Room is clean and tidy. Recommended to stay here.

Skogarfoss, Skógarfoss 🧭 Map
The hotel was a self checkin and kind of creepy. Tile floors everywhere so it was quite noisy when ppl came and went. The place needs a facelift for sure. TV never worked. It was sufficient for 2 nights but no longer.
Room was clean. Had only 1 pillow each. Weird tick tick knocking sound which continues off and on all the time.couldnt tell where it was coming from. Loud enough when trying to sleep to annoy some. Terrible smelling sulpher water. Nice coffee machine and a good included breakfast. Near falls and a restaurant.
Just a place to stay and convenient to Skógafoss and the Fimm Trail. Clean, comfy beds and pillows. Great view of falls and aurora from windows. Breakfast was acceptable, simple breakfast food and limited offerings. Coffee was available 24/7. Outside needs some cleaning up but we were pleasantly surprised how nice the inside was. I’d stay here again. Can walk to the falls and the restaurant.
The hotel is self check-in, so it’s very convenient if you dont have a set schedule. There really isn’t much service but I think there is a reception just down the street at a different hotel. I gave it 5 stars for the location, as it is only a short walk away from Skógafoss, kvernufoss and the Skógar museum, so you save parking fees if you plan to go to these places. Facilities are great provided...
Great location for hiking and waterfalls. The breakfast was lovely and lots of options. The self-service check-in was flawless. Great area and great hotel.
The breakfast buffet was not as good as those in other hotels in Iceland, with limited choices.

Tremendous hotel! Magical. Lovely geothermal pool. Elegant dining in an epic restaurant setting. Wonderful classic old rooms. Helpful staff. Didn’t want to leave.
Loved the natural hot springs spa which was open till late and then again before breakfast.
We booked two rooms, one of which turned out to be a loft. Both were incredibly small. Not only was the loft room easy to bump your head on, but the bathroom sink was incredibly small and unusable, and the toilet flushed with a puff of water that was completely ineffective. For nearly 2,000 yuan a night, the room wasn't even as good as a 200 yuan room in China. I've never stayed in a hotel this bad...

A hotel located in remote Hólmavík with a view of the water. At first sight, it seemed a bit like a dilapidated building past its prime. Parking is right in front of the hotel. We loved our stay at this unique property! The owner is full of life and personality and the setting of the property is gorgeous. It's charming and charismatic, we appreciated the hot tub after a long day
I absolutely loved my stay! It was beautiful and clean and the owner is so kind! It was 10 minutes away from Selfoss where I had some great meals. Thank you so much, I will definitely book again in the future.
Very nice guest house. Super clean. Quite small for three people. Our recommendation is to add window screens to limit flies.
Cottage was clean and well stocked. Bathroom had strong odor of sulpher possibly. Check in was great even late at night.
Very beautiful guesthouse with all the amenities you need and clean. Only one washroom in the home to serve 3-4 rooms though, which can become a bit frustrating.
Clean, quiet, comfortable with lovely charming rooms in the country. Cheerful and well-equipped shared kitchen with great coffee! The best part was the wonderful, welcoming hosts who cared about our experience and generously shared their home with us. Great Iceland ambassadors!

Beautiful room with fantastic views. Friendly staff. Would have like a buffet breakfast instead of a basket to the room the night before? However completely understand when there’s hardly anyone staying.
One of the best hotels we stayed in Iceland! The room to the balcony was exceptional. The hot tub overlooking the city was amazing! Definitely recommend staying here! Amenities were updated in short don’t think twice about booking here!!
Positives: Breakfast was great. Drawbacks: Compared to the other 9 hotels I stayed in across Iceland (at same price point), this one was the least clean. It had a off-putting smell & was dingy... dusty, etc. Nothing terrible, just not as nice as other places. Our bed arrangement wasn't as we reserved either. Perfect spot to watch Northern lights in a clear night as it is 6 km away from Akureyri. Self checking and breakfast in your room from Nov 1st to April 1s. Rooms somewhat small but more than okay for us, with only one night stay
Building looks a little old but it's comfortable. It's on the other side of the city and view is really pretty. High chances of seeing northern light.
Breakfast is included but served only 8-10 which was late for us and they did not provide box lunch
The room was a little small and the water had a sulfur smell to it.
