Reykjahlid, Modrudalur, 660 🧭 Map
I'd rate it as 6 out of 5, if this was an option. This might have been overall best stay I have ever had, among hundreds of stays all across the world.
1. very friendly service. The person running the hotel was going out of her way to make us feel welcome. On the first day we were the only guests (mid February, so i guess low season) and we got such a nice breakfast spread. We were looked after, and...
I recently visited Möðrudalur á Fjöllum on a winter trip, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. During my stay, I walked approximately 35 km in the surrounding area near the hotel, exploring the vast highland landscape in truly ideal conditions.
The weather was excellent, clear and calm, which made the winter hiking both safe and unforgettable. The scenery was powerful and serene at...
We had a very pleasant stay here.
The check in was at the restaurant, the rooms were actually 2 minutes away by car.
There was a fully equipped kitchen in the house, everything was clean.
We also saw a reindeer and the northern lights from there.
This was our favorite place that we stayed during our 9 day Iceland trip. It was very unique, the staff was great. The room was clean and nice sized. It was fun to see the animals and buildings as we walked around outside. It is about 5 minutes off of the main road, but worth the drive. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were both delicious.
On our ring road adventure last week we decided to take a detour to rest at this spot. We were not disappointed. Friendly staff. Perfectly great accommodation. We were self sufficient with power and food so we only used WC (bathroom) and sleeping. However the unique cooking facilities would have been fun in my opinion! The shower spaces and toilets were clean and plentiful. The goats are friendly and...

Blonduos, Aðalgata 6 🧭 Map
Everything was good except the room size was too small for 2 persons.
After a long day of driving along the "big loop" , this was actually a nice spot to stop. Rooms were very small, as stated in other reviews. But comfy. Bathroom was clean and did the job with the shower that was fairly large. Good breakfast with basic offerings. Did not eat at the restaurant as it was a bit $$$ for the location.
Hotel Blonduos was a pleasant surprise. Hotel staff were attentive and happy to chat and assist. The apartment we stayed in was fabulous, and would be excellent for a few to several days. The location is quiet, which for us was excellent. If you’re staying in Blonduos, it’s clearly not for the nightlife as it’s a small coastal town, but for us the location is 5 star!
This cozy, comfortable restaurant in the heart of the town offers a relaxed atmosphere. Dinner was delicious and a satisfying dining experience. The beach is within walking distance, making for a pleasant after-dinner stroll. Its convenient location makes it an ideal base for exploring the town and coast.
We did like this hotel very much. The room was spacious and comfortable. The decoration is made with love.
The dinner at the restaurant was excellent. The best we had on the trip so far. The dishes were made of fresh ingredients and nicely prepared. The team and the cook informed us about the daily options. We could also change the dishes to our preferences. Very friendly and supportive.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hótel Blönduós in Iceland, and it was an unforgettable experience. The premium rooms were exceptionally cozy, offering a perfect blend of comfort and style. Waking up to the stunning views of the ocean and the glacier-fed Blanda River was truly a highlight of my trip. The sunsets here are breathtaking, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, creating...

Nice place with great breakfast variety.
A little tight with space but you will be fine.
beautiful location, very clean
The hotel is a resort with a golf course. It is close to Seljalandsfoss Waterfall and is located in a remote area, so it is only suitable for self-driving. The service is basically self-service. You check in with the password sent to your email and leave directly after checking out. The host is at ease and the guests feel at ease. The environment in the early morning was extremely good, and I saw the...
The location is quite far from Highway 1, and the room was very clean.
The hotel is located in an isolated position in the countryside near the village of hvosollur. There is a restaurant inside with prices in line with Iceland. In the morning there is an excellent breakfast buffet with sweet and savory. The room was clean and well heated. Great for those who love nature, you need a car to get there.
A lovely continental breakfast with ham & cheese available. Would have preferred bread rolls in addition to bread for toasting, but that's only nit-picking. Cheesy pancakes were lovely. We started the day well.

I’d give 4,5/5 but it won’t let me to half to I rounded up, truly incredible, amazing service, comfortable beds, incredible view, nice owner and really good food. We were supposed to leaf at 11 and the owner let us be an hour and a half more since we were going skiing. Really nice tv, first time I’ve been able to watch some tv in a hotel. Very clean, great looking elevator. Great location.
My husband and I loved our stay at Hafdals Hotel! The views were spectacular, overlooking the town lights across the estuary. The room was exceptionally clean, hotel owners were accommodating and kind, and breakfast was simple but delicious. In this 10 room hotel, it was quiet and easy to get to - only about 5 minutes from Forest Lagoon and a quick 10 minute drive to downtown Akureyri. We had a 10...
This is a fantastic no-frills option across the fjord from Akureyri. The room was exceptionally clean, and we made good use of the refrigerator and coffee maker. The floors of the bathroom were heated, which was an extra nice touch. The views are all stunning, from every room, as you look across the river delta. It’s about a 10 minute drive to downtown and just a few minutes by car to the Forest Lagoon...
Located on a hill opposite downtown Akureyri, the view is breathtaking. The hotel is quite stylish, and the elevator is new, making it a nice place. It was the first time I've seen small bottles of shampoo and conditioner in an Icelandic hotel, which was quite surprising. The breakfast was also very generous, with delicious local boxed yogurt! I even saw a robotic lawn mower in action, which was a...
We really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful views. Check-in time is firm. Owner does all duties (check-in, clean, breakfast, lawn care, etc.) Room was very clean! Serves a cold breakfast.
If I have one pet peeve, there was very small bottles of body wash/shampoo, only for one time use. Instead of a large refill bottle.
We'd stay there again! Highly recommend.
Picked this hotel because of the location just outside of Akureyri. The host was very friendly and always happy to make recommendations. He was very knowledgeable about the area and gave good advice about places to go.
The room was very good, with amazing views across the fjord looking towards the airport and town.
To get into town, you need a car but the Forest Lagoon is walkable albeit a climb back...

A lovely welcome from the team started our stay well. The room was really clean, cared for and well designed. The breakfast room had plenty of space and choice and the bar was so lovely, with a great choice of drinks and really beautifully decorated. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
The room felt unfinished with certain lights missing. The tv didn't work. However everything was very clean and the breakfast was amazing
Beautiful hotel but not good rooms
Pros:
The propriety is beautiful.
Common areas are very well decorated.
Bath towels new and soft.
Breakfast is excellent.
Cons:
Room very stuffy and warm (no AC).
Noisy construction in front of the building and so is the road.
Staff between arrogant and almost rude.
Room/bathroom design weird.
Loose electrical wires hanging out of the walls.
Holder for shampoo...
Location great service good room was very crowded no closet or hooks for clothes or space for suitcase
It was a very nice hotel and hotel room. The breakfast was extremely good! The only downfall was there was a lot of construction going on within the hotel and on the street of the hotel.
Loved this hotel!!!
The Hotel Akureyri Dynheimar is a firm favourite; its charm and character have been preserved and enhanced by clever interior design choices.
The rooms are generous and very well-fitted. Our room had a large desk, a comfy armchair, a beautiful bathroom, and a king-size bed.
The heated timber floors were a nice touch. This hotel is designed for comfort, and I felt right at home...

The room was relatively clean, the location was convenient, it was close to the airport, and taxis were easy to get. The app also had some improvements. Overall, it was acceptable; after all, European service is different from Asian service.
Quiet & clean hotel. You check yourself in if late. Ignore the negative reviews. Hotel was clean and staff was friendly. I would stay here again!
It was very beautiful and the environment was great! I want to go again!
Staff was exceptionally helpful when our converter shorted the electricity in our room.
Place has a nice vibe.
Must be safe in the area since key was left on counter.
Couple of nice bars nearby.
Short but nice stay.
We just stayed one night as we had a layover. We look for a hotel close to the airport to reduce the cost of transport. This was about 10min from the airport but still cost $47cdn. There was no front desk staff but our paperwork and key we at the front desk waiting for us. We had a nice breakfast before we left back to the airport.
This was an easy, no frills spot to stay a night ahead of our flight out of Keflavik. Check in and check out we're all self-serve and easy.

By far the best place I’ve stayed in Iceland. After staying in six different locations along the ring road, this one exceeded all expectations. The location and views are stunning, and the farmhouse-style home has such a warm, cozy feeling. The décor inside really captures that rustic charm. I can’t wait to stay here again.
Very clean Hotel room with a mini fridge and a smart TV. The staff was really friendly and helpfull. We loved the breakfast and the dinner.
The hotel is located at a farm and you can see a few animals! We loved that! 😊
We didn't stay in the place. We just stop for lunch in the restaurant. Cute place with a convenient location if you need to have lunch in the ring road. The food was nice, the burger was great. The meat was ok, the portion is a little small for the price. The service is good and places is really pretty.
I have stayed at the hotel twice, went a couple of times to the restaurant and now I went to the new baths and dinner. Everything was so good, food excellent, service excellent and the baths so cozy. They seem to be still working on the bath facilities but quite obvious that they are ambitious in providing an memorable experience for their customers.
The food at the hotel's restaurant is excellent. Try the Lentil Steak. It was a new gastronomic experience, especially in a wonderful way. High protein with an exquisite taste. The lamb that I had was super tender and all in a great experience to take the significant other for a fantastic meal.
Stopped for dinner on my way from Reykjavik to Akureyri. Had the “Hraunsnef Burger” and it both filled my stomach and pleased my soul for the remaining trip. Highly recommended for the whole family ... the best bite on Highway #1 between Reykjavik and Akureyri.

The property is lovely, the terrace on a sunny day was especially a hit point! The town is quiet and had excellent food nearby. Stefan was an amazing host, very comfortable for a family of 5 with 3 teenagers. We felt like home.
Stayed her with my wife and son. Wonderful apartment in excellent location near golden circle and southern Iceland attractions. Would recommend it to anyone traveling with a family.
We stayed here few months ago, and sometimes I catch myself daydreaming and remembering this absolutely cozy and homy place. 2 minutes after entering the apartment on the 2nd floor, I already felt like home. Maybe it's because my home is quite similar to this one, but I'm pretty sure most people had felt and will feel the same homy vibe. It has everything you need if you want to stay for a day, a week...
Very cosy and well equipped flat with a garden and a hot tub ! Highly recommended.

Spent a night here on our Ring Road trip around Iceland. Lovely family run farm that has a guest house for travelers as well as Icelandic horse riding tours. It was a nice change from staying at hotels and the first time we really got to have some conversations with the knowledgable people who actually live here. Great location, free on-street parking. They had a hair dryer and it was comfortable.
It was in a quiet residential area, and it felt safe.
We were looking for a cheaper option in the city. The hotel was adequate, but with the limited rooms there was no staff to support. Door “keys” are punch codes, which were not responsive, it took many attempts with the codes to get into our room each time. Easy drive to downtown tourist area.
It was like a DIY motel with no one on duty most of the day. You had to have a code to enter. I called ahead about early check in and was told it would depend on availability. However when we got there, no one was there and we couldn't use our code at the entrance until exactly 3:00.

This was a unique stay, giving off a camping vibe. I was surprised there wasn't any staff on-site to greet us. Instead, they left the key in a common area for self check-in, and there's a number to call for assistance, so definitely have a phone plan with calls included. The common area was clean, with unlimited self-service coffee and hot water. It would be absolutely stunning if the sky were clear...
Staying at Aurora Igloo was one of the highlights of my trip to Iceland. Even in winter, the igloo was cozy and warm, with three heaters inside. I booked the igloo with private bathroom, which was spacious and well-equipped. Check-in was easy and the hosts responsive when contacted. I would definitely recommend stopping for a night here on your south coast adventure!
I spent one night here in January, luckily, we managed to catch the northern lights as the location is great to see the auroras. the igloos are very clean cosy and warm, and the toilet and shower facilities were very clean too. thoroughly enjoyed my night there, would deffo go back x
It was a bit pricey, but it was the most special accommodation of my life.
I don't know if we got lucky or not, but watching the northern lights dance all over the sky while sitting inside our warm clear igloo was incredible. Comfortable beds, easy check in. No complaints. Also id say if you can spend the extra money, they private shower igloo is well worth the cost. If you don't want to pay the extra its still plenty worth going to. Truly incredible experience.
This place is amazing!
We spent one night in an igloo with shared bathrooms. The bathrooms were clean and nice, it was so great to have a coffee and tea after a freezing day.
The bed heater was a great feature of the room, it was nice and cozy to see the northern lights from bed. Like a fairy tale :)

We were very happy with this accomodation! The day we left, we had to leave at 3 a.m. and were therefore to early to get breakfast. Knowing this, the very nice and helpful lady of the hotel made us some sandwiches, which were waiting for us on the counter. Recommended!
This hotel literally saved me a few others from a long day of exhaustion. They welcomed us in and we're so very nice and comforting. The hotel was a self checkin and kind of creepy. Tile floors everywhere so it was quite noisy when ppl came and went. The place needs a facelift for sure. TV never worked. It was sufficient for 2 nights but no longer.
Room was clean. Had only 1 pillow each. Weird tick tick knocking sound which continues off and on all the time.couldnt tell where it was coming from. Loud enough when trying to sleep to annoy some. Terrible smelling sulpher water. Nice coffee machine and a good included breakfast. Near falls and a restaurant.
Just a place to stay and convenient to Skógafoss and the Fimm Trail. Clean, comfy beds and pillows. Great view of falls and aurora from windows. Breakfast was acceptable, simple breakfast food and limited offerings. Coffee was available 24/7. Outside needs some cleaning up but we were pleasantly surprised how nice the inside was. I’d stay here again. Can walk to the falls and the restaurant.
The hotel is self check-in, so it’s very convenient if you dont have a set schedule. There really isn’t much service but I think there is a reception just down the street at a different hotel. I gave it 5 stars for the location, as it is only a short walk away from Skógafoss, kvernufoss and the Skógar museum, so you save parking fees if you plan to go to these places. Facilities are great provided...

Love her huge friendly dog as well. The room was well furnished. The owner even provided us with some snacks and drives for breakfast in the fridge. There was also souvenir used horseshoe for us to bring home...
Great place away from town with great prices and surprise fun for the family. We played with the dog the cat and the friendly horses. What a great evening for fun between attractions.
Stayed for one night back in September 2022, loved it ! Very comfortable room, a nice little breakfast, a souvenir of a horse shoe, an amazingly friendly dog, beautiful views and gorgeous horses. Wish could have stayed for longer ! Thank you for a great stay !
very cute horses, the place is just beautiful clean and warm
It was like a dream! Definitely the best place that I stayed overnight in my trip. The room is adorable and very cozy. We had the view of the horses from our window during the sunset. If you love animals like I do don’t miss the chance to stay in this place. They also have a lovely golden retriever that was really friendly, and receptive when we arrived. I wish I could stayed longer. Definitely I will...
