Hotel Villa Antica in Tropea

Beautiful villa from the outside, almost in the centre and very close to all restaurants. Stunning breakfast with great service and nice seating — that was the only thing which made our stay more positive. Negative: The room was extremely small and dirty, with mould on the wall — dangerous for health. The mattress was very cheap and impossible to sleep on, the bed cover was full of stains of various origins, and the pillows were thin and completely worn out. Towels were very old and looked like paper — rough, unpleasant, and completely unsuitable for guests. The toilet had no proper working lights, and the whole room smelled awful. They claim it is “rustic,” but it has nothing to do with rustic style — it’s simply dirt, poor cleaning, and neglect. Water was switched off at night to fill up the reservoir, leaving us without any water before going to bed. Reception staff did not speak English. Everything was horrible in this villa — only the breakfast was surprisingly good, clearly run under completely different management that deserves to operate in a luxury place, not in this damp and dirty accommodation.
