This restaurant is on the island of Palmaria and has really great and local food. The “muscles” are top notch and the pasta dishes have great depth in taste and the portion is quite good. The pasta with pesto is a must try. Highly recommended if you’re traveling in Porto Venere or are close to 5 terre

The only good part of the experience was the boat ride, which was timely and enjoyable. Upon arrival, the staff didn't want to serve us. I believe this was because we don't speak fluent Italian, although we can otherwise get by. The waiter was extremely rude and impatient and did not even want to serve us from the beginning. The steak was undercooked, the unknown fish was overcooked, and the shrimp and lobster still had all it's shells on, so it hurt to take it off. The people/staff who worked there laughed at my wife when she asked for something to crack open the shells. After all the food was finished, one of the day felt nauseated. If I could give this place 0 stars I would, but Google rating only allows from 1-5 stars.

This is just a review of the restaurant, we did not stay at the hotel.
We went to this restaurant recommendation of a local. It was absolutely fantastic. Everything about it - the food, the setting, the service, the transportation to the island - was memorable. The portions were generous and the seafood was all delicious and cooked perfectly. Very reasonably priced too. We had our kids with us and the staff was so gracious and kind to them. We ordered just a simple bolognese for our littlest kids who might not appreciate the seafood and the waiter brought a huge amount of pasta and said ‘just one portion’ with a wink as he set it down. I would highly recommend and will definitely return!

Great food and service! Tucked away from the main tourist traps, this genuine restaurant did not disappoint. We had a quick lunch where we found a good selection of pasta which was cooked well and tasted great. Would happily eat here again if I visit Porto Venere again.

The worst meal I have ever had, Sent back one fish and 2 desserts And they insisted I pay for them, never offered a replacement but had to pay , the owner, said we cooked it so you have to pay, very unprofessional staff they tryed 3 time to change the wine we order to 125.00 E when the wine menu said 45E Very dirty and unsanitary bathrooms

A Venetian boat will take you across from Portovenere. One of the most delicious meals of our trip. The mixed seafood antipasti were excellent, we loved our pastas, and the grilled fresh fish was simple yet perfect. We loved the very friendly hospitality and service above it all. Time it with sunset for a romantic dinner.

This was my family’s worst dining experience in our four years living in Italy.
We were excited to enjoy dinner at a special restaurant during our stay in Porto Venere and chose Locanda based off online reviews.
The boat ride: we waited at the dock in Porto Venere for 45min. The “taxi”, a boat with no logo or markings, and a driver that would not answer questions (in any language) is obscure, unclear, and drastically different than what is advertised online and on the pier.
The service: Our waiter was rude, condescending, and deceitful. We ordered a bottle of wine from the wine list and he brought out a very different bottle, then tried to convince us it was the same. When I asked for the bottle originally ordered, it was unavailable as was our next choice from the list.
The food: This was the worst food my family and I have had in our four years in Italy. The kids pasta was covered in metallic-flavored sauce from a can. Our oldest daughter and my husband ordered a steak that was inedible because it was burned on the edges and still frozen in the middle. The steak came with half a lemon as garnish - perhaps to kill your taste buds. I ordered the fish, which lacked any seasoning or flavor.
The atmosphere: bring mosquito repellent. While the view is beautiful, the mismanagement of mosquito prevention measures ruins the atmosphere.
The boat ride back: The “taxi” is not continuous, the restaurant needs to call it to come pick you up - this took another 35 minutes. We had to ask the desk twice to call the boat taxi forward for a five minute transit.
Bottom Line: Avoid this restaurant unless you want a complicated evening complete with abysmal service, terrible food, and mosquito bites.

A complete disappointment and a total disgrace.
You should already start wondering when you can’t see any price until you ask for a menu. By then you already got pushed to have a bottle of white wine, the basic local one that gives you a terrible headache the next day, not only because of the price (30€, most probably 2,5€ in a shop). And it keeps going the same way : 30€ for 4 small langoustines. Not even any scissors to break the pincers. You definitely will walk away hungry and/or ripped out.

Tourist trap. Questionnable hygiene, overprized (7€ for aperol spritz)

Top location. Food middle quality, unfortunately. Service nice. But the location and the transfer with the Venetian boat tops it all!
