Portofino in Rapallo

Just spent a week here in this charming hotel, located on the 1st floor of an old palace. Perfect location to walk everywhere as Rapallo is not a big town. Even though the hotel is on a main road, it's very quiet so easy to sleep well. Fabulous staff, so kind and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing, no hot food but plenty of different yoghurts, bread and rolls, pastries cakes, cereals. A wonderful stay.

Had a lovely 7 night stay here. Staff were wonderful and the location is perfect. Would strongly recommend value for price. And did I mention how wonderful the staff were.. thanks again

I have written travel guides (many!) and I have a slightly different approach to critiques... Rapallo is a gorgeous old town and not done up like a museum... It has the faded glory of an era when merchants built their palaces near the sea, some with widows walks... You can't keep up these buildings without some serious cash... The owner of the Portofino though makes sure that you are welcome and feel at home... She will literally insist you take some of the breakfast with you (the warm croissants (cornetti) are to die for (just make sure you leave your butter-allergy at home, or your gluten worries, etc... you can eat your way through Italy, but not if you are worried about your diet... really, just put it all aside and eat), the coffee machine is practical, but it is a machine (I always go out to get my jolt for €1,20 around the corner) Location: Couldn't be better, not that far from the train station, the bus to Santa Margherita stops in front of the hotel, the old town is a few steps away, as equally close with its lining of tangerine trees). The room, faded, huge windows, tiny bathroom, with an opening on the terrace... I had the feeling I was in a Thomas Mann novel for a moment, though the furnishings and the decor had been sacrificed to the budget... But feeling good, and being central is all that is needed... The work in the building downstairs was not the best thing for late sleepers. Ask the owner for tips... She'll send you to Camogli, and you can get there by train (advisable)... It's a 15 minute ride max.

Incredible service Great staff Comfortable rooms The hotel is freaking amazing the staff are the most caring and accommodating people on this planet and truly care bout you having a great time and comfortable stay! I highly recommend staying here if you’re in Rapallo. Rooms are comfortable and simple which is all you need and I can tell you this much they will give you 5 star experience and service

We had an excellent stay at Hotel Portofino. It was a 4 minute walk to the touristy shops and food and the ferry to Portofino. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They stored our bags as long as needed and then the walk to the train was 5 minutes. The room was nice, just the bathroom was a bit original.

Hotel Portofino is good choice in this small town. Room is with a romantic atmosphere. Breakfast is very good. Location is in good place, few minutes walkable from railwaystation and sea :-) staff is very helpful and kind, thank you so much.

A great location with very helpful friendly staff with good English. Clean/comfortable/ quiet and auirky faded charm.Plumbing odd but it worked ok! Few minutes easy walk to station/town/beach. Loved Rapallo with its beautiful setting , buildings and laid back atmosphere. Press button 1 for door and it will open

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous From friendly welcome and genuinely fine breakfast - the terrace - the old town - the price. All very good. I highly recommend. We did a long walk to Portofino (bus from Rapallo to St Marguerita Ligure) which was magical. Thankyou Laura and team

If you’re looking to stay somewhere near all the islands this is the perfect place! The rooms were good but the service made the experience excellent. Daniela was the best hostess you could ask for, she helped us figure out things about the islands and even recommended places to do laundry and eat. She also makes the best croissants! Overall, it was a great experience and I know I will definitely be coming back. Let alone the beach being only a 5 min walk from the hotel.
