Hotel Torretta in Montecatini-Terme

Well, the star of the show here is undoubtedly the pool, and whirlpool. That's why we stayed here. Even during a heatwave though, the pool was, shall we say, refreshing. The Whirlpool was delightful! This is an old school, family run property and it really shows. If you are looking for a property where the staff will go out of their way to make sure you have a plesant stay, this is your place. there are ample areas to sit about and read, or play games on the ground floor, which are probably well used because the rooms don't appear to be particularly large. We stayed in a junior suite, which, apart from a rather disappointing view of the back of the kitchen and driveway, offered ample room for us and our luggage. The bathroom in the junior suite verges on spectacular with it's enormous walk in shower and chromotherapy lightshow. The bed was comfortable, though the pillows were a bit ont he firm, plump side for us. Everything was immaculate here, and while the breakfast was satisfactory, it offered a modest selection, though it was very good considering the value offered here. Fabio ran the room effortlessly, which was super impressive as sometimes there were 30 or 40 people enjoying breakfast at the same time, but everything was replenished quickly and efficiently. Kudos to him for his level of professionalism and courtesy. The location of the property is great, on the northern edge of town with tons of parking just outside the doors. It's a 4 minute walk to the funicular to Montecatini alto, and about 10 minutes into the center of town, though the walk back is all slightly uphill. 30 minutes will get you to either Pistoia or Lucca, less than an hour to either Pisa or Florence, so the location is pretty much ideal if you want wander about. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, though we knew what to expect. It's a value hotel that offers touches of luxury. It's also a piece of Italy that is disappearing so catch it while you can!

Since our first stay at Torretta in 2018 we have wanted to come back and finally did get a chance. Everything was even better than remembered and Torretta is still our favorite Italien hotel; The most friendly atmosphere and staff, high quality food, excellent wine list, fantastic outdoor area, clean and good rooms - just to mention a few highlights. Thanks to the whole staff and owners for a perfect stay

The breakfast was excellent. From the moment I entered the hotel, the staff was very attentive. I really appreciated both the warm welcome at the reception and the polite and lovely attitude of the service staff. Both the common areas and the room were very clean. Additionally, the garden was very pleasant and enjoyable.

We had a great week here the staff were friendly and helpful, the food and wine were plentiful and we had a lovely west facing balcony room. Unlike other hotels they provided two comfy chairs. Although they cater for tour groups as well as couples the staff remembered us and treated us as individuals.

Wonderful stay at Hotel Torretta! First class experience from the moment I stepped through the door. This is an exceptionally lovely hotel with incredible customer service who really helped me plan all the day trips and organise taxis. The food every evening was sumptuous and very good value for money, I doubt you will find better in Montecatini! The buffet breakfast was great too. I very much enjoyed the pool and the hotel provides a complimentary towel which is a plus especially if you are limited on luggage. Location wise this is up the hill from the town centre via the Roman spa and park. The train and bus station are near enough and from there I was able to visit Lucca and Florence with ease. I was a solo traveller but the hotel staff couldn’t have been kinder. I look forward to returning one day very soon!

We spent a terrific week at this family run hotel. The staff were all lovely and unfailingly helpful. The restaurant served some of the best food we ate whilst in Italy, and the place itself is beautiful. I would highly recommend Hotel Torretta, and wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

We stayed at this hotel back in 2016 and returned in June 2024. Our experience was just as good as we remember from the first time. The staff are all very friendly and helpful especially Gabriel. We had a Junior Suite which was very nice and kept spotless. The food was generally excellent with 3 or 4 choices for dinner in the evening and a decent wine list. Breakfast is continental but they do also provide scrambled eggs and bacon along with a toasting machine. Outside the pool and jacuzzi were very nice. We found the area around the pool to be quite unkempt though with weeds growing up through the paving. The sunbeds are quite uncomfortable and there are no parasols. There are a few trees around offering some shade however. This was the only negative from our stay though. The train station is about a 20 minute walk away down the hill. We tended to walk down through the park to get to it which was a much nicer walk than going down the main road. We thoroughly recommend going to Lucca which which we liked so much we went back a second time. Trains going to Lucca/Pisa go to the right and those going to Florence to the left by the way. There is only one track at the station so this is important to remember. Train fares are very low compared to the UK also so it’s a very economic way to travel. We went to the 3 tenors concert at the Tetuccio Terme while we were in Montecatini which was pretty good. All the seating is on the same level though so if you’re at the back you can’t see a thing. Lots of people holding up phones to record the show which was also quite annoying. The singers themselves were good though. Montecatini itself was pretty dead during the day although there are plenty of shops. The town came alive in the evening though and was very buzzy. Montecatini Alto is worth a visit on the funicular although once up there there isn’t much to see other than the view. There is a small square with a few restaurants and gift shops. The return journey costs 7.50 euros each. All in all we had a good week here and can thoroughly recommend this hotel for a stay in Montecatini.

We arrived at the hotel on the 18th of April for 4 days.on arrival we had a free upgrade to a room with a balcony at the rear of the hotel which had beautiful views. So thank you very much for that.very much appreciated. Rooms were nice in tuscany style.beds were very comfortable. We ate every evening at the hotel which was very nice.it was actually cheaper to eat and drink in the hotel than eating out.but what really makes this hotel is the staff.they made us feel very welcome.always smiling and very helpful. So thanks to everyone at the hotel for making our stay wonderful.you are doing a fantastic job.all the best phil and jay.
