Please be warned about the blatant discrimination you may experience from the owners of the property. The property’s view is gorgeous, but it is not worth being treated with such disrespect, as the owner might make accusations against you and kick you out of the premises for any random reason, in this case having poured some liquor from a cabinet. We had paid to stay at the property for two nights with breakfast included. During the first night, while returning back to our room after a dinner out, we accessed an open cabinet located in the common area of the property with the intention of pouring ourselves a nightcap and borrowing a teacup. The owner and his partner ambushed us, yelling at us, treating us as thieves, as "kleptomaniacs" (quoting) and consequently kicking us out of the property passed midnight with nowhere to go. If an honest mistake was made on our end in serving ourselves from a cabinet that was not supposed to be accessed, it could have been handled by the owners like normal people would — by addressing it calmly, accepting an apology from our end and moving on. We would not have made the same mistake again, quite simply. And to be clear, multiple and immediate apologies were made to the owners once we realized that the owners felt personally offended by our actions, but those apologies were
dismissed. What we did without even fully realizing (again, opening and drinking from a liquor cabinet and nothing more) could have never justified the kind of behavior and treatment we experienced from someone who works in customer service. We were literally treated like thieves (not like paying customers), yelled at, and aggressively asked to leave with no other option. Moreover, if you are a brown person, you’ll be talked down at with a dismissive and humiliating tone like we experienced. Humiliating to watch and denigrating to experience.
Also note that you’ll be watched 24/7 while staying at this property, as the owner "watched us on the cameras" (quoting). We had asked the owner why he didn’t talk to us the first time this happened that day, but there was no answer to that, as he had preferred instead watching us on and monitoring our ever move on the cameras, like you would for potential thieves (again, not with paying customers). Any audio or video recording without proper written notice is illegal by Italian law and no camera signage was posted at the property as of August 12th. I cannot give it 0 stars because rationally you should, given their terrible excuse of costumer service.
I have never had an experience like this at any of the properties we were fortunate to stay at over the years. Despite the refusal of the property owners to give us the money back for having kicked us out of the property for no reasonable reason in the middle of the night, we were able to get reimbursement through the website we booked from and the website has additionally flagged down the property for safety and security concerns.
