Stayed here for 2 nights, seeing as they served Hida Wagyu Beef, had outdoor hotsprings (rotenburo) and was convenient to access using the Nohi Bus.

The place was quiet, and cosy and met all of our requirements. The food was very delicious, about ~15 plates per meal, we didnt finish any single meal (as 2 grown men) because the food was simply too plentiful (the photos are incomplete as they bring more dishes throughout the meal). Note that if you are not comfortable with eating raw egg, natto, fish with bones, sashimi etc. you will still be able to eat just fine, but will have to exclude some dishes. Rice refills are available if required.

The hot springs were good, certainly dated as is the whole hotel's aesthetic but nonetheless adequate and as advertised. 1 entrance leads to 1 outdoor hotspring + 2 indoor hotsprings and a sauna. The second entrance leads to 1 outdoor +1 indoor hot spring and a sauna. The first entrance is available to men (and 2nd for women only) until 10pm before the entrances switch. I do not believe there are any private onsens.

The place was very quiet and we had all the onsens to ourselves after 8pm. The hotel appeared to only be half booked even on a public holiday weekend. The hosts were very nice and even knew a bit of english.

Access was very convenient with the bus stop just a few steps away from the entrance, and is on the way to Shin-Hotaka Ropeway so being away from Hirayu Onsen was not a problem.

Note that there are no shops around so for any thing other than the provided breakfast and dinner, you will need to bring with you.

This is a very thoughtfully maintained hot spring inn, run solely by the elderly owners during the off-season. From the moment we checked in, we could feel how meticulously they kept this small inn clean, comfortable, and attentive.

The comforters in the room were fluffy and very warm. After check-in, we found the kettle already boiling water and keeping it warm, with a can of ice water nearby. There were also surprisingly sweet oranges on the table 🍊 – everything was perfectly prepared.

What touched us most was that once we simply asked the owner to heat up some fried pork cutlet we bought from the supermarket. Not only did they heat it up for us, but they also thoughtfully placed it on a plate, accompanied by shredded cabbage and a little pasta. We were truly moved, feeling a deep sense of human kindness 🥹.

Breakfast was a traditional Japanese breakfast, but the portions were very generous. When the morning temperature was low, the owner's wife even kindly offered us blankets to cover ourselves with. I stayed here for two nights, and the breakfast changed slightly each day, showing their thoughtfulness. It even made me feel a little sorry for the two elderly people staying there.

While the hot spring itself isn't high-end, and the faucets and other facilities are a bit dated, it doesn't affect its usability at all. The open-air bath in autumn is especially wonderful; soaking in the cool water while watching the leaves fall is a truly beautiful experience.

I sincerely hope this hot spring inn can continue to exist, allowing more people to experience this simple, warm, and genuine care.

This is a wonderfully heartfelt hot spring inn, run entirely by the elderly owner and his wife during the low season. From the moment we arrived, we could feel how much care they put into maintaining this small inn—everything was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared.

The futons were fluffy and very warm. After we checked in, we noticed that the hot water kettle in our room had already been filled and heated for us, and there was also a bottle of cold drinking water with ice. On the table, the owners had even placed some surprisingly sweet mandarins 🍊. Everything was arranged with such care.

One moment that touched us deeply was when we asked the owner to help warm up a pork cutlet we had bought from the supermarket. Not only did he heat it up for us, but he also plated it beautifully with shredded cabbage and a small portion of pasta on the side. We were truly moved by that simple yet heartfelt gesture 🥹.

Breakfast was a traditional Japanese-style meal, but very generous in portion. On chilly mornings, the owner’s wife even handed us warm blankets to keep us comfortable. We stayed for two nights, and each day the breakfast had small variations—proof of how thoughtful and hardworking the couple is. It even made us feel a little worried for them, seeing how much effort they put into everything despite their age.

The hot spring itself isn’t luxurious, and some fixtures, such as the faucets, show signs of age, but it doesn’t affect the experience at all. The outdoor bath in autumn, with the cool breeze and falling leaves, has a wonderfully serene and charming atmosphere.

We sincerely hope this lovely inn can continue to exist for many years, so more people can experience the simplicity, warmth, and genuine care that the owners put into every detail.

以前宿泊しましたが、スタッフの中に非常に偏屈な人物がおり、大変不愉快でした。高圧的な物言いや態度によって休暇を台無しにされ、残念でした。 I have stayed here before, but unfortunately one of the staff members had a very unpleasant attitude, which made my stay uncomfortable. Their high-handed manner left me disappointed as it affected the quality of my vacation.

Very traditional onsen with kind host. Breakfast was very delicious with different menu. Mostly vegetarian friendly

The hotel is located next to Shin-Ping-Yu Onsen Station HO48. It's only one minute away from the bus stop.
The store is well decorated, and I like the furnishings and decorations.
The hotel has two public hot spring areas, one with indoor and one with outdoor pools. The temperatures of the two hot springs are acceptable. The hotter one is more comfortable to soak in. The colder indoor pool has turbidity near the water outlet and needs to be cleaned. In addition, the room we booked did not have a bathroom, only a toilet and a sink.
This time I booked a one night, two meals package, and I was quite satisfied with both the dinner and breakfast, which included Hida beef.
The tatami mat in the Japanese-style room we booked had some chips falling off in places, and we suggested that the store could replace it in advance.
Overall, I am quite satisfied.
