The room was very clean. The staff patiently explained the hotel layout and hot spring information. The hot pot at night was also delicious. I will definitely come again next time!

It was a luck to find this place! Friendly staff, beautiful surroundings and authentic ryokan. Highly recommended!

The surroundings and the village are very pleasant. The hotel itself offers an interesting experience, staying in a rather dilapidated building with minimal amenities. You can really get a sense of what it might have been like to travel in Japan in the second half of the 20th century. Everything is very old and outdated, but that just adds to the charm. The onsen is nice, and I especially enjoyed the round outdoor bath. However, I really didn't enjoy the breakfast or dinner.
The staff were acceptable, but I wasn't a fan of the main administrator or whoever that person was – very overly familiar, insincere, and affected.
There's no value for money here. I definitely wouldn't go back a second time. But overall, I don't regret the experience.

A very nice family-run guesthouse, very cozy, the hot spring bath was great, but the breakfast was a bit basic and the shared bathroom was too small. The owner kindly took us to the station when we checked out.

The service is good. The onsen is pleasant. The baths are the same in both places, changing morning and evening. The washrooms in one are larger.
Ohara is a wonderful place, definitely worth a visit. Stunning views, temples steeped in history. And this traditional inn is quite nice.
The rooms are air-conditioned. The floors are a bit chilly. The futons are very thin. Dinner is interesting and delicious. You have to simmer vegetables and meat in miso soup. There are also traditional simple dishes. Breakfast is not very hearty. It might be difficult for a man to get full. Everything is delicious for a Japanese food lover like me.

It's an older building, and many parts are quite worn. However, the location is excellent, quiet, and beautiful. Famous attractions like Sanzen-in and Jakko-in are within walking distance, making it suitable for nature lovers. The food was very good; dinners were delicious during my three-night stay. The staff were also very friendly and attentive, paying attention to guests' needs. I would recommend this hotel to friends.

Excellent ryokan. Yes, it is a bit old, but this is the best place to feel the whole atmosphere) Everything is clean inside and in the rooms, the Onsen is also tidy and has everything you need. The hosts are very nice people. They helped us with dinner, then we decided to quickly look for fireflies and they gave us a flashlight and showed us where to go. In the morning at breakfast the owner walked around the tables and wrote down who to take to the bus stop at what time. And so the stop is a 15-20 minute walk through very beautiful places) when checking out they charged a tax of 700 Yen. But this is normal in Japan, and it was indicated when booking

We don't recommend anyone because this hotel is not honest. We didn't get the room we paid for. When questioned, they said tomorrow will change to a bigger room. But what about the refund??? We were refused a refund even though it's not our fault. Maybe they think they can short change tourists but this won't work in the long-term. As news spread, they will get the bad karma.

We stayed at this guest house in early March. We were delighted! The guest house is located near the bus stop, you can walk and enjoy the views of the village. There is also a transfer. The dinner was simply gorgeous, delicious miso, a large selection of vegetables and broths. Breakfast was also good, although not so varied. Very beautiful garden. The guest house itself is in a traditional style 😍 the owner gave us instructions and a tour, was very polite and friendly. The guest house has some rules, for example, keeping quiet, which creates an atmosphere of complete relaxation. The room itself is clean, the bed linen is fresh, there are instructions on how to lay out the futon. We were given yukatas and warm sweaters, towels and accessories for washing and brushing teeth. There are hair dryers too. There are two onsen, male and female, they alternate to visit each. When we were there, the onsen opened on schedule, but there is enough time to stay. The barrel with hot water is simply gorgeous, in the open air, around the forest. It is forbidden to take photos and videos on the onsen territory. Sorry for breaking the rules, but I wanted to capture this beauty at a time when no one was there. The only thing I missed was some kind of bench next to the onsen in the open air so that you could cool off and sit in the hot water again. But this is probably a purely Russian habit.
We were very pleased with our stay in this guest house.
