We had to unexpectedly stay in Hakone for one night longer than we thought, and there were actually no available hotels. We booked this hotel, a little scared by the reviews, but everything went great!
We ve booked through Booking.com and there was no fraud.
The room is in a traditional style, clean, with a very beautiful view of the mountains. There is no shower in the room, you can only take a shower in the onsen. The onsen itself is small, but hot. In general, compared to the luxury hotel where we stayed the previous night, and which cost 5 times more expensive, I can't say that there was a shocking difference. Yes, this is not a luxury hotel, but value for money is good.
From a bus stop you need to go 5 minutes uphill.

It was a scam. We made the reservation with Booking, but the owners didnt want to accept It. It was raining so we had to stay there for two times the price agreed with booking.com

Before I booked this hotel, I really didn’t check the reviews first but thankfully it was okay. I’ve read later on that it was a “scam hotel” if you booked from Booking. I booked this hotel thru Agoda and it went fine.
The hotel looks nice and elegant from their website pictures, but it was old and has a weird smell like a tire smell something like that inside the rooms. The rooms are spacious tho but has thin walls so we could hear the next door’s conversation and stuff.
Also, one thing that all these other people leave out on their reviews and please take note of this is, “THEY DIDN’T HAVE PRIVATE SHOWERS IN YOUR ROOM.” Yes, just a toilet and a sink. If you have to shower, you have to use the public bath (onsen) on the lower floor. It was a big dilemma for my husband coz he has tattoos. I asked the front desk employees if its fine for my husband to use the bath, and I couldn’t understand him coz he only speaks Japanese and he talks really fast. So in the end, I told my husband to just use the shower real quick but don’t dip in the onsen itself. Oh also, they will ask you to pay for a like a bath fee upon check in, which you will need to pay in yen (cash) but its only ¥150/person. So all in all, the stay was just okay. Could’ve been better though. Anyway, no 2nd time for me on that hotel.

Very nice hosts who were very helpful! The lobby is very luxurious and the hotel offers many amenities, snacks and drinks. Hosts had great recommendations where to eat, hike, what bus to take, etc. The onsen is open from early morning until late in the evening and is very clean. Bathropes are given. Hotel has a great pool table. The rooms have a nice view over the area which you can enjoy from luxurious chairs in the room. The beds are in traditional Japanese style and with futons.

Nestled on a quiet hilltop in the small village of Ohiradai the Harriway Summit View Onsen Hotel is a perfect rest stop for those visiting the Hakone area. The location is serene and quiet with stunning views and the divine sound of spring water trickling through the town. For those on the free pass doing the Hakone loop; simply start at Hakone-yumoto station and head towards Motohakone-ko and you'll arrive there at end of your adventure. We received a genuinely warm greeting from the sweet owner. She showed us our spacious room, dressed my daughter in her yukata and gave us a hotel tour. Our western style room was huge and well appointed, though the beds were a tad hard for someone used to a cushy sleep. The onsen is divine. My five year old and I enjoyed a tranquil soak twice; in the evening and the early morning. They are gender segregated and feature a picturesque forest view. Something to note: this is a quiet spot, outside the hustle and bustle of Hakone proper. There are few food options and the local convenience stores close early. So either eat before you arrive or bring food with you. Overall a wonderful stay and one I would heartily recommend. I'd definitely stay again next time I visit the area.

The rooms were big, the staff was super friendly and the onsen in the first floor felt really good. The lobby is very nice too. I came as a family with my wife and 2 daughters (6 and 4) and had a very relaxing time. The view from the room was amazing in the morning. All great.

The onsen experience was the bomb! Furthermore, the ryokan style rooms, including the cutest kimonos for the kids- all super charming.
The owner was wonderful. Despite the fact she does not speak too much English, she made sure everything was alright and taken care of, she showed us enthusiastically around.

The staff went above and beyond to accommodate myself and my family. They were extremely kind and very prompt with any inquiries we had. The hotel is very nice with wonderful views. Our room was very comfortable and the onsen was really relaxing. I will absolutely recommend to anyone visiting Hakone.
