Fujiya Hotel in Hakone

This five-star hotel is absolutely wonderful! The hotel itself has a rich history, and there's even a museum inside that meticulously chronicles its past. The hotel garden is stunning and perfect for photos. The Japanese breakfast is a must-try; we enjoyed it so much that we had it for four consecutive mornings! What's more, the Japanese breakfast menu changes every three days, with each day offering enticing dishes. I highly recommend experiencing this historic and beautifully designed hotel – it will make your trip to Hakone truly worthwhile.

This hotel is practically flawless. The facilities are excellent, the service is great, the food is delicious, the aesthetics are beautiful, and the location is perfect.

Some particular highlights include:
① The entire hotel is a scenic spot; you could spend half a day just exploring it. The adjacent shrine is directly connected to a hiking trail.
② Japanese breakfast requires a reservation, while Western breakfast is walk-in. Neither is a buffet; both are served as courses, which are incredibly refined and delicious.
③ Chinese-speaking service is available throughout (though the hotel primarily hosts ********* guests, with very few mainland Chinese visitors).
④ There's a 24-hour complimentary beverage and coffee bar within the hotel.
⑤ From this location, you can quickly reach any part of Hakone by bus.

I'd love to come back for the hot springs again at Miyanoshita Station.

The forest-view rooms are located in the wing built in the 1960s. The decor isn't just retro; it's genuinely vintage. You can tell they used quality materials and had good taste, but it definitely feels dated. The public bath is conveniently located on the 6th floor of the forest wing. The shower stalls have dividers, so privacy is decent. If you're not comfortable using the public bath, the hot water in the room's bathtub is actually hot spring water, so you can enjoy a private soak in your room.

The hotel itself has a lot to offer. There's a hiking trail behind it where you can see Mount Fuji, but it takes about an hour, and I didn't have time for it this trip.

For breakfast, you can choose between Western or Japanese. The Japanese breakfast requires a reservation. Our timing didn't work out, so we had Western breakfast for two days. The menu was exactly the same both days, and while the dishes were standard, they were meticulously prepared.

As a hotel that was once a showcase for Japan's opening to the West, you can feel the high standards of design and service everywhere. Most of the guests are older, which reminds me a bit of China's Friendship Hotel. For families with children, the hotel provides kids' yukata and toiletries, and you can buy fish food for 100 yen to feed the koi, which made the kids very happy.

The hotel itself has a lot of character. As a century-old hot spring hotel, the architecture is quaint and grand, and the courtyard is huge, perfect for a long stroll and great for photos. The location is also very convenient with easy access to transportation. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, highly recommended.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. Even though I had some understanding of it before booking, staying there in person truly revealed the unexpected delights. The hotel is conveniently located near the Tram Palace lower station or the Hotel Zen bus stop, making it accessible even without a car or private charter. Then there's the hotel's architecture, the concierge area, the front desk, the check-in guide, the shared bar, the rooms, the bathrooms (with optional spa), breakfast (with optional Japanese breakfast at Kikuka-so), the entertainment area (including a swimming pool), the wedding chapel area, the art gallery, the pastry shop, and so much more to explore and experience. It's also a place where famous figures like Albert Einstein and John Lennon have left their unforgettable memories. In short, if you're not on a group tour or rushing through Hakone, this is the perfect choice for a slow-paced vacation.

The hotel is so well maintained, the service is very professional.

We enjoyed the japanese set dinner and felt that the portion can be bigger.

The Western Breakfast was great and must try. The dining ambience was good.

The room was very comfortable and quiet. There are many places to explore throughout the hotel, and the hot springs are definitely worth a visit, especially in the morning when it's particularly peaceful!

This hotel has a lot of historical character and is pretty good overall. It has a garden you can stroll through, and there's a bus stop right outside that takes you directly to Odawara Station, which is very convenient. The only downside is you can't see Mount Fuji from here.

Beautiful hotel, loved everything about it, from location to the hotel staff, next time will stay longer, the Japanese breakfast was truly amazing
