Cyan Cancun Resort & Spa in Cancun

Do not recommend. Here’s why: This trip was booked for me through RCI as part of a promotional package. I paid for upgrades, which is scary to know. Compared to hotels around it, it is lacking in every capacity. The pool is decent. The bartenders are friendly. It’s on the beach, but you’ll notice the beaches behind the other resorts are cleaner. My first room was located halfway underground, it was dirty, the refrigerator old and leaking, and the toilet was missing the seat and lid. When I brought this to the attention of the front desk they did immediately give me another better room. However, that room was just basic. There is no wifi in the rooms. And the bed didn’t even have a comforter, just a bed sheet. The “all inclusive” package included unlimited food and drinks, but the restaurant was awful. I’m by no means a picky eater, but that food was just reheated slop. Drinks from the bar were good and plentiful, so no complaints there, even with bottom shelf liquors. NOTHING OPENS ON TIME. Breakfast is supposed to start at 7am; they might be ready by 8. Bars are supposed to open at 11; same thing, they open about an hour later and they close things early. The lack of service there was extremely frustrating. The only plus was it was an $11 Uber ride to the airport. When it was time to go I found myself relieved and ready to go rather than wanting to stay. Not a great first impression of Mexico for me.

This hotel is extremely old with terrible facilities. Inside the room, there was no hot water, leaky toilets, loose doors, cockroaches, and pillows that smelled old and dirty, among other issues. The food was awful and service was incredibly slow. The pool was old and the water was freezing cold. To top it all off, their rules were excessively strict; you couldn't consume any liquids, food, or snacks that weren't sold by the hotel.

In short, I absolutely do not recommend this hotel. It offers terrible value for money because even though the price is affordable, what you get is extremely subpar.

Absolutely the worst hotel stay I've ever had. On our first night, there were NO blankets in the room—it was freezing cold, and my fiancée was miserable the whole night. We almost packed up and booked another hotel right then. When we complained to the front desk, the staff was super indifferent, extremely unprofessional, and showed zero empathy. No apology, no effort to fix it quickly—just shrugs and attitude. Customer service was exceptionally bad throughout. Do not recommend this place if you want basic comfort or any kind of caring staff. Save your money and go elsewhere.
