Hipotels Dunas Cala Millor Aparthotel in Cala Millor

My first trip abroad. Yes that’s right I’ve never flown before.. but what do I do? I choose the worst hotel in Majorca. Not because of the hotel itself or even the staff but because of the CLIENTELE. In all my life I’ve never experienced such ****** as I did in this godforsaken place. We arrived late and couldn’t get anything to drink so we had to share the water left in our fridges between us. We asked for more water but the bar was shut and that was it. No offer to help my thirsty children. Customer service at its finest! That’s fine I thought, we’ll survive until breakfast. We all went down looking forward to a hearty start to the day and it didn’t take long before I noticed the staring. Women, children all staring at us as though we had 3 heads. My husband who’s white was oblivious at first but quickly noticed. One horrid man in particular stopped eating and along with his 2 young daughters and rat on a lead (yap yap dog) turned in their chairs to watch us as we went round selecting items from the buffet with looks of disgust on their faces. Of course. Silly me. It’s a German orientated hotel. How dare a woman of colour think she could reside here in her holiday. I was so upset I didn’t eat any breakfast (I love my food as a plus size girly) and didn’t go down for any meals throughout the duration of my stay. I asked to be reimbursed but never got any recompense for the food we paid extra for. It absolutely ruined my holiday and I couldn’t wait to get home. I’ve never been so pleased to get back to Blighty where it’s a diverse and multicultural heaven compared to the bottom end of Cala Millor. Why is it allowed? Do they tip well or something? We even saw a German flag being flown on a yacht like they own the place. It’s Spain for heaven sake. There was a brown skinned girl working the bar every day/evening, I wonder how she copes? Anyway, the hotel is spotless and yes the rooms are old but super clean and we slept very well indeed. Forget getting a sun lounger there weren’t enough and you’d get stared at while trying to search for somewhere to sit like it was some sort of sport. The pool while inviting looking was very small. Thank god the beach was right in front of the hotel, I felt at home there. The food although I didn’t eat any was very continental with cold meat and cheeses at breakfast, it’d be hard to make up a full English here but we didn’t come for English food but neither did we expect German food! My family were ok with it luckily but didn’t go down to breakfast again out of solidarity to me and how sad I felt so we ate out which cost more but I felt comfortable outside of the hotel. One guest even asked me if I was an actor as if they couldn’t work out why I would be staying there unless I was some sort of celebrity! Maybe on that occasion it was a compliment who knows? The few staff we encountered at reception and especially the housekeeping staff were wonderful and Cala Millor is a beautiful place. If we ever retur
