What an amazing place to come for my children's first holiday abroad, all the staff are really helpful and friendly and are quick to answer any questions you may have. The entertainment for the kids with Manel & Alex was next level, my kids loved Manel and he made them feel really included with all the activities from calling the numbers out in bingo or doing a tiktok trend to ping pong and even football ⚽️ nothing was to much. Good value for money food is spot on. The rooms are made up daily.

The **Albir Garden Resort** in L'Alfàs del Pi (near El Albir, Alicante, Spain) markets itself aggressively as **Spain's largest sports resort**, particularly targeting professional athletes, sports federations, and larger groups of mostly young athletes. It promotes extensive sports facilities, including options for football, athletics, tennis, swimming, and more, which indeed attracts these kinds of groups seeking affordable accommodation close to training amenities.

However, this focus on volume and low-cost stays appears to come at the expense of basic quality, maintenance, and ethical standards. The rooms are often shabby, worn-out, and in need of significant updates—far from what one might expect even from a budget-oriented resort. Cleanliness is inconsistent at best, with many areas showing signs of neglect.

Most disturbingly, the property is home to a large colony of feral cats roaming the grounds, including around pools and guest areas. These animals are not properly cared for: they lack sterilization, regular veterinary attention, or humane management. Tourists sometimes feed them, but the cats frequently show clear signs of suffering—fleas, ticks, injuries, broken limbs from escapes, and indications of mistreatment. Reports suggest the management resorts to trapping them as a cheap "solution," leaving them confined for indefinite periods until they "disappear" with unknown fates, rather than addressing the issue through proper animal welfare channels like neutering programs or partnerships with rescues.

When I raised these concerns at reception and attempted to discuss them with management, I received no meaningful response or willingness for open dialogue.

While the sports setup may suit groups prioritizing cheap beds and facilities over comfort or ethics—and some families or athletes overlook the issues for the price—the overall experience is disappointing and troubling. The neglect of basic hygiene, room conditions, and especially the inhumane treatment of the animals makes this place unacceptable for anyone who values cleanliness, animal welfare, or a decent stay.

I cannot recommend Albir Garden Resort to anyone in its current state. I would be open to revising this view if the management ever demonstrates real changes, such as improving maintenance, addressing the cat colony humanely (e.g., through TNR—trap-neuter-return—programs), and showing genuine accountability. Until then, look elsewhere.

Stayed here for 5 nights. Was greeted by very helpful reception staff. Room was ready as soon as we arrived. The location of the hotel, there’s 2 supermarkets, cafe’s and restaurants around, clothes and shoe shops, and a beautiful beach just a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Great views of the mountains from the hotel. The atmosphere of the hotel and staff, was clean and tidy, the staff were great, smiley and friendly. A few members of staff : Marina , Gasper , Victoria, they were great and made us feel very welcomed! The entertainer Carl, he was fantastic, very bubbly and making everyone feel included. We were all inclusive, but the for the value it’s definitely worth it, especially with the use of the indoor pool and sauna, as well as the use of the gym. There was the few odd noises of cars driving past and suitcases being pulled but that’s to be expected, but apart from that didn’t have any problem with any noise. All in all had a great experience and hope to return in the future! Thank you!

Rooms were very clean with enough storage space. Kitchen only has basic utensils with 2 elastic hob and microwave no oven or toaster. Bedroom, beds very comfortable and clean, extra pillows if needed.
Lounge area has sofa, tv and four dining chairs with table. Balcony with table and four chairs.
Location very good bus stop and taxis right outside of hotel. Plenty of bars and restaurants in albir

Ok for a quick week away. Everything was just ok at this hotel. Its very tired and needs some major refurb in areas but is possibly suitable as a 3 star hotel. The sauna/steam room area is not the best, again tired, in need of an uplift. Rooms are basic, which to be fair is all you need. Beds are not comfortable though. Balcony was not in a good condition, broken areas. Food was average, not hot at all. Asian night was good though, some dishes, whilst not hot, were tasty. Lots of areas for improvement, lots of repairs needed. It's a big resort and maybe during high season they deliver, but I would not book again.

Overall hotel is nice, clean in parts and in a good location after that it's hard to say anything positive. Stayed at the end of October 25. Family of 4 all inclusive. First off all inclusive only covers a few drinks, it didn't seem like there was much options, even soft drinks only coke and sprite really available, eating area seems very small for the number of quests out of season so I'd hate to go to when busy/fully booked. Food is hit and miss, some things are nice but most of it is under cooked and cold. Again not much options for food, more options would have been nicer. The grounds of the hotel are very nice lots of green space and plants etc but there are so many flys and stray cats walking around near the apartments and pool. Some of the grass areas where they play games like dodge ball are covered in cat poo, once you notice it and the smell it's hard to forget. Pools are clean and there is a small aqua park with slides but this is only open a few hours of the day. Entertainment? There are a few shows on in the evening again these are disappointing, a lot of the shows are repetitive and boring. Bars, there are 3 bars around the pool area. One serves snacks and the other drinks. Food is burgers, hotdogs pizza and fries, everyday, again no variety. Service at the 3 bars is slow, lots of long queues and waiting around as only ever one member of staff on each area, this is worse in the evening as the pool side bars close leaving all guests queuing at one bar with one member of staff. Staff like most things here are hit and miss. Some are nice others are just plain rude to the point even a smile is hard to find, finally what ruined the existence for myself, the hotel and facilities are use by young international football players, they are walking around in large groups, taking up space in the canteen and around the pool. Whilst we were there we had Spanish, French, Dutch and Irish players staying. The Irish youths between 14-18 were horrible to say the least. Walking around in gangs of 7-10 lads. Fighting each other, swearing and just being antisocial. This is not fair on paying quests, customers and children staying at the hotel. Overall I would avoid staying here.

I’ve been on multiple all-inclusive holidays and some 5 star ones but this is still my favourite. The entertainment team is definitely the best part of the holiday, I came with my younger cousins and other family and even though me and one of my cousins are teenagers they still involved us in a lot. Our favourites were Manel and Harrison for this reason. We stayed the week before halloween so there was some halloween theme entertainment which everyone loved especially the halloween show and the black party after it - Manel even got up and danced with us which we all found funny. There wasn’t much entertainment in the day however, but every time Harrison was working the day there was always something going on. The food wasn’t the best but it is worth what you pay - it can just get a bit old but I managed to find something i like still and I don’t mind having the same things at times. We also went to Benidorm on a couple days and it’s only a 10 minute journey in a taxi so it’s not hard to get to and there is a market on Wednesday and Sunday with lots of stalls and different types of things. I love halloween so it’s definitely a good place to go in October because they decorate the hotel well and there’s lots of halloween and activities and you can tell they put a lot of effort into the halloween show. I would definitely go back again - I’ve already asked.

We have just returned to a very cold and wet England, The Albir Garden resort was absolutely fantastic for children and adults alike. We stayed 6 days, and we never felt hungry. Though the queues for the bar could get long, so I recommend getting two drinks at once (top tip) Especially a vodka with the lemonade slushy, very tasty! The Waterpark was good fun and there are plenty of life guards on duty. The Animation team were absolutely fantastic. Manel, Nico , Alex, Nico, they all knew, by the time we left that Vodka helps you get a better darts score, it really does. There was loads of activities for the children, whether it was dodge ball, mini golf, kids disco, kids funny lunch or terror pizza making, the children had a great time. My 7 year old daughter Lizzie made a new bestie in Manel, this was to the point that we had tears when Manel finished on our last night as the animation team, made her time at Albir Garden resort extra special. She has been asking me, when are we going back? She has made memories that will last a lifetime. She was given an Animation team t-shirt on the last night and I think she will treasure it forever it really made her holiday. The only negative I have, was that our flight getting to Alicante was delayed leaving Luton, so by the time we got to Alicante it was 1:30am and by the time we got to our hotel it was 3:45am, but that’s the only complaint I’ve got. If we hadn’t already booked for next year, I would definitely be going back.
