Reviews
When we first arrived there was no power for the first 30+ minutes in our room at 10pm. The floors were untidy, I kept having small debris stuck to my feet and shoes. The bathroom was partially cleaned, the area around the sink was not cleaned throughout my 5 day stay. The bathroom had a rotting sewage smell every night and with no working extractor fan. The beds were very uncomfortable and I didn't get a single night of good sleep. Super noisy outside and out in the hall and I just got a very creepy vibe from the noises in the halls outside our room.
Staff was very awkward and in general not friendly which had us leave a day early because we just had enough. Internet also doesn't work in the room and best part was when we turned the tv on it was busted.
Overall VERY bad experience and i encourage anyone to avoid this place.
The only positive thing was the location, close to the main street and the beach thats about it.
Although we were upgraded to better rooms upon arrival, which seemed promising, the rooms themselves were not as clean as I expected. They also felt poorly furnished: there was no bedside table, the towel hanger was awkwardly placed across from the shower, and the wardrobe didn’t even have doors. For a hotel, it was also very strange that the only thing between you and the actual mattress was just a thin sheet.
However, the real issue was the restaurant. There is absolutely no system in place for food allergens. The only “labels” you’ll see are extremely vague signs like pork, fish, vegetables, etc.—which is completely useless if you need to know what’s actually in your food. We tried asking the kitchen staff in both Spanish and English, but they either didn’t understand, laughed at us, or simply waved us off. Only one person seemed to know what I was asking about, but they were rarely available. The hostess was also unhelpful, directing me back to the chefs, and reception outright told me: “We cannot put signs out, you need to ask the kitchen staff.”
This is not just inconvenient, it’s dangerous. For anyone with allergies, the way the hotel handles food is careless and unacceptable. It left me feeling stressed every single mealtime, not knowing whether I could safely eat anything.
To be fair, outside of the restaurant, many of the staff were excellent. Don at the bar was outstanding—friendly, professional, and always attentive. The lifeguard also deserves credit for doing a fantastic job protecting the children. Unfortunately, the pool was far too cold for us to use, so we stuck to the beach, which was much more pleasant thanks to the warmer sea.
Despite a few bright spots, I cannot recommend this hotel. The lack of allergy awareness and the dismissive attitude in the restaurant make it unsafe and unacceptable for anyone with dietary restrictions.
Dinner was good and had a wide selection of food. But then came a serious issue: I had some eggs with paprika seasoning, and after eating them, I almost threw up. The eggs were spoiled, and after removing the seasoning, I saw that the egg was completely black. When I informed a very unprofessional waitress, she shook her head, said it wasn’t bad, and then stormed off. We were only trying to warn her so other guests wouldn’t get sick.
The reception staff were very nice—special thanks to Paula, who was extremely helpful. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the payment at checkout, during which we were yelled at and spoken to very disrespectfully.
I wouldn’t book this hotel again, but I also don’t regret staying at Hotel Papi. We had our fun and enjoyed every moment despite the issues.
Our stay at Papi Hotels was generally enjoyable, but if you’re choosing between the 3-star and 4-star options, I’d recommend booking the 3-star. The 4-star didn’t live up to expectations – no toilet brush, no hairdryer, and not even a kettle in the room. For the price, these basic amenities should have been included. Plus, the 3-star rooms actually offer a better view and sturdier furniture!
That said, the food was good, and the reception staff were incredibly sweet and welcoming, which really made a difference. The team at the bar was also friendly and added to the overall positive atmosphere. The entertainment was just okay, nothing too special, but a nice addition to the evenings.
In summary, while Papi Hotels offers a decent experience, I’d advise sticking with the 3-star rooms for a better value and more comfortable stay.
oh and the wifi was really bad in the room
Room we got was big enough but they should have been cleaner. The AC wasn’t working all day long, so during the day your room is quite warm. Also, the AC unit in our room was leaking and had black dirt/mold on it. We reported the issue but it wasn’t fixed (and if anybody was there to check that) the unit was not cleaned while examining it. It was still leaking next day but it was working so I didn’t care anymore.
The towels were changed daily but I have seen stains on the new ones at least twice. The room had comfortable beds and was big enough. It could have better lightning as it was quite dark. We got a room with side sea view and it was pretty quiet despite the street and bars outside. However, some of people we talked to complained that the rooms facing the pool were much louder in the evenings, so it differs.
Forget about WiFi in the room. It was more often not working than usable and the LTE coverage in the building was limited so even using regular mobile network was hard. Was unable to find the area where it worked well.
Also, be prepared that you may be awaken three times by false positive fire alarms. Quite annoying when you have a child that just fall asleep and was woken up after short time.
The pool was fine but these fancy photos with waterfall and jacuzzi are misleading and disappointing. The waterfall was running for maybe 5 minutes a couple times a day. I have seen bubbles in bottom jacuzzi maybe three times for similar time. There was another jacuzzi on the top of waterfall but when we got there it had cold water and barely any bubbles. What’s more important the surrounding of that pool was also dirty and had mold/dirt signs on the while elements around the pool.
The water in the pools were cold. Coming at 10am you will barely have pleasure to use the pool.
The children’s aquapark runs before 11-13 and 15-17. However this schedule was randomly executed and it happened that it was launched at 11:30. Quite disappointing when kids want to play.
The restaurant has very friendly stuff and is generally nice. However the breakfast menu was rather boring. There was a decent choice of products but it went all the same for a week. Missed some veggies and scrambled eggs but it was good to have some child-safe picks like crepes. On the other hand the dinners were much more attractive with great salad buffet each day. There were some regional dishes as well as safe picks for both adults and children.
The animation team was friendly and engaged trying to offer some activities for the guests. There were some fitness sessions for adults and some time for kids. They won with bouncy water slide and foam party but that was actually just one day that was strong and the other weren’t as attractive.
very nice hotel. rooms are fine, air conditioning works well and good balcony. The atmosphere in the hotel is very good in the evening. often activities or shows.
staff is super nice. Dani in particular was super friendly and always up for a chat. I hope he will be there again next year if I come.
