Wonderful place to stay. Recently remodeled and looks brand new. Very clean and comfortable. Pull the curtains and view the Matterhorn from your bed. Very quiet. The balcony has great views of Zermatt and the Matterhorn. Everything in town is within walking distance. The lobby is very comfortable with a drinks bar across from it. Breakfast is available and very delicious. The staff speaks English and are very friendly and helpful.

Welschen is a phenomenal hotel in all respects and highly recommended for a stay in Zermatt. The property is beautiful and newly renovated with spacious rooms and stylish amenities. The owner, Mr Welschen, works the front desk and even picks up guests at the train station himself. He is kind and engaging. And the location is unbeatable sitting directly above the Sunnega lift. Really a wonderful experience. I would go back again if I am fortunate enough to return to Zermatt. Stay here! You won’t be disappointed.

From the moment I stepped through the hotel in the lobby, the staff greeted us and check-in was very smooth. The room (JS) was a dream—spacious, immaculate, with a king‑size bed that felt like sleeping on a cloud, beautifully designed, spacious bathroom and a balcony that offered a postcard view of the Matterhorn. Breakfast was really nice: everything fresh and I also loved the food at the Stübli, so delicious. The Fitness room was great, but the best part was the wonderful pool and wellness area to completely merge into relaxation. It‘s also perfectly located in Zermatt. A fantastic place that blends luxury, comfort, and genuine hospitality, this is it. I’ll definitely be back.

We absolutely loved the Welschen hotel. The staff were so kind and very helpful. The hotel itself is pristine and one of our favorites from anywhere we have travelled across the globe. Our Junior Suite South Room was large, bed was comfortable and we really liked having the toilet room separate than the rest of the shower/tub/sink room. The view was amazing and we loved the balcony. We used the pool everyday - be sure to bring your swimming suit. The fitness center was great too. The breakfast was wonderful and the breakfast room and entire lobby has an unbelievable view of the Matterhorn and Zermatt from above. Can’t beat it! The location is about 10 minutes walk from the train station and downtown area. You do go uphill, so prepare for a little trek if you have heavy or multiple luggage’s. Overall, 10 out of 10. We didn’t want to leave!

Incredible hotel with magnificent views , service and facilities !!! The staff were warm and helpful. The breakfasts delicious and the wellness facilities were 5 star! Couldn’t recommend this hotel more!

This is a new hotel. The rooms are beautifully done with the modern Swiss look. Our view from room 601 is excellent and the Matterhorn is on our side of the hotel. The staff is very friendly, speaks excellent English and are extremely helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend.

Our experience at Hotel Welschen was absolutely wonderful in every possible regard! The location of the property is excellent since it's within an easy walk into downtown Zermatt but, just far enough away and slightly elevated enough such that you could look out over town with spectacular views of the Matterhorn! We loved the warm and tasteful contemporary design of the entire property including the main reception desk, lounge and breakfast areas, pool, spa and the outdoor terrace spaces. We opted to stay in one of the Junior Suite South rooms for four nights in mid-September as were celebrating a milestone birthday and we were thrilled with the spaciousness of our quiet room, the very comfortable bed, lovely balcony with an amazing Matterhorn view, ample closet space, a coffee and tea cabinet, a large main bathroom and a separate water closet. Like the rest of the entire property, the decor in our room was exquisite and included state of the art lighting technology. As if this wasn't already enough, we found the entire staff at Hotel Welschen to be very welcoming and genuinely friendly including the front desk, breakfast and cleaning staff along with our free shuttle driver as well. The plentiful free breakfast offered many delicious options and several lovey seating areas with views. We also had a very pleasant encounter with the owner who shared with us some of the long and rich history of this family run business through three generations which included a complete three year rebuild of Hotel Welschen which was just recently completed in March of 2025! In summary, we felt that given the excellent quality of the hotel, it's great location, amazing views and wonderful staff; Hotel Welschen was also an excellent value for the price and highly recommend it!

This is seriously one of the best hotels we stayed in. Freshly renovated and very beautiful inside. Our room was spacious and had amazing view on Matterhorn from the balcony and even the bed! We were also using the swimming pool after the whole day of hiking and the pool was great. In addition to that, friendly staff and delicious breakfast. Honestly cannot recommend enough!

My goodness, we LOVED this hotel. It's sleek and stylish, the amenities are out of this world (the pool and spa were incredible). The staff was kind and invested in us (I was so impressed by the personalized attention). The rooms were well-appointed with incredible views. I really can't say enough good things about this place!

My new favorite place in Zermatt, which reopened this year, is luxurious yet feels very familiar and authentic. The breakfast is delicious and offers a variety of local specialties. The view of the Matterhorn is breathtaking. The spa and pool area are relaxing and offer stunning views of the Matterhorn. The terrace is perfect for a glass of wine or a workation. Overall, I give this place five stars. The location, interior design, and style are excellent, the breakfast is delicious, the views of the Matterhorn are amazing, the staff is lovely, and the owners are caring.
