Hotel Bella Vista in Zermatt

We were seeking a family run hotel in a great location and the Bella Vista ticked all the boxes. The location is a short walk in to the village and nicely removed from all the associated noise. From the very first contact, the staff were warm, attentive and helpful. This really was some of the finest service we have received anywhere; from the heart. At times the staff multitask between front desk and terrace duties and they do it with grace. The view from our room and the main terrace was like a postcard with the Matterhorn dominating the skyline. Our room was very clean, roomy and well serviced. The breakfast was fantastic with a fine selection of home made pastries. The wellness centre is excellent. We went to ski and it is a short uphill 5 minute walk to the Sunnega lift. Some care required if it is snowy on the short walk home but it was easily manageable. Can't recommend this hotel enough and we will stay there again.

Pamela and I stayed four nights in their "garden suite" on the ground floor. Spacious room and facilities with a view of the Matterhorn through all windows and our walk out patio. After a well appointed breakfast we walked 100 metres up the road to the public elevator down to the ski resort tram. We then looked forward coming back to the hotel "wellness centre" to decompress and relax after a day on the slopes. Highly recommend!

What an incredible view of the Matterhorn! 🏔️😍 It’s the perfect spot to sit back and soak in the scenery.
The menu is rather small—ideal for a delicious snack or a light lunch—but everything they serve is top-notch quality. I was also pleasantly surprised by the very reasonable prices, which is a rare find with a view like this!
The staff was super friendly and attentive. If you're looking for a relaxed vibe and a world-class panorama, this is the place to be!

Amazing, hospitable hotel! Small hotel in a quiet area but still very walkable to the main streets and ski lifts. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and go above and beyond. There is an outdoor terrace with a clear view of the Matterhorn to relax on. The homemade breakfast buffet each morning was also amazing. There are so many thoughtful special touches here :)

Finally got time to leave a review! - It was such a awesome stay that the kids are still talking about it. It is a very cozy, family run hotel and we are taken very good care by awesome Melanie throughout the stay! They went out of the normal menu items to prepare simple pasta dish for my daughters and as mentioned in many other reviews, breakfast was simple and tasty (i love their choc cake). We got the sky suite and it was perfect for us family of 4. It is about 5 mins walk to the centre and 7-8 to station.

For those that are unable to call out to get the car, do know that there is a free phone station at Zermatt train stn that allows u to call out to ALL hotels.

Sorting through Zermatt hotels for our first visit wasn’t easy; there are many options, and we weren't sure which would best fit our needs. I’m thrilled that we ultimately chose the Bella Vista. My wife, son, and I stayed in Room 16, which features beautiful mountain and city views from the balcony, a spacious bathroom, and a small vestibule, which helped eliminate any chance of hallway noise. Before our arrival, the hotel set up a bed for our son, and there was ample storage in drawers, shelves, and hangers along one wall for our personal items during our week-long stay. The internet was reliable and fast, hot water was plentiful, and the shower had a removable wand-style showerhead. The rooms have radiators which can be independently adjusted. The elevator services all but the top floor of the hotel.

The dining room is amazing. Each morning, a spot was waiting for us to enjoy their delicious homemade breakfast items. We enjoyed cheese night on Tuesday. Every staff member went above and beyond to learn our preferences and seek to make our stay wonderful.

The hotel offers not only a nice lobby for relaxing but also a downstairs recreation room, which was a fun play area for our son during downtime. There is a spa for adults on the lower level, along with a boot room in the hotel and a ski room in the garage across the street. The hotel recommended ski instructors and rental services, all of which were excellent. The rental shop delivered and picked up our ski gear from the hotel, requiring only that we stop by for a fitting when we arrived in Zermatt.

The hotel picked us up from the train station on arrival and dropped us back off on our return. The hotel is a short walk from town and accessible via a shortcut with a somewhat steep, paved walking trail or a longer, less strenuous route through other hotels and shops. It takes just minutes to get to most major destinations in town, or to one of the bus stops to reach the more distant ski lift.

Waking up at this hotel each morning was a delight. We can’t wait to return.

The staff were extremely friendly and immediately made you feel at home. The hotel had amazing views of Zermatt and the Matterhorn. The rooms were really nice and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was also great offering food alternatives for intolerances. We would highly recommend and definitely return.
