Very nice stay at Christmas. Great rooms, great staff, great location. The only thing that was missig was that little extra Christmas touch. It would have been nice to be given a few cookies, chocolates or candies to celebrate the holidays.
Service from staff was impeccable. Room was well appointed and clean. In room snacks and drinks were a nice touch. All the gentlemen at the door were fabulous.
The location is excellent. The 9-10 restaurants on the ground floor offer very good food and service quality. The hotel is 115 years old. The price-performance ratio is reasonable. It was a pleasant stay. I recommend it.
The hotel is beautiful inside and out. Room was large and very well maintained. Without exception staff was extremely friendly and polite. Valet parking was very friendly and handled expeditiously. Will definitely stay at the Hotel again when we return to La Jolla.
The room was large and had beautiful views of the ocean. The room was very clean. The staff was friendly from the bell staff to the front desk. The restaurant and bar were excellent.
Valet parking was easy; rooms were beautiful and spacious. Staff was very helpful and shuttled us to local restaurant.

My one-night stay was short but very sweet! This hotel is in a great location and within walking distance of the Village of La Jolla and the Cove. The front desk staff (Joshua, Eric and Hailey) constantly and consistently went the extra mile, effortlessly, which helped me to stay on track with a very tight schedule; the room was exquisite; and the ambience of the hotel was warm and welcoming. Breakfast...
Service and location are great! All the staff were really nice and accommodating during our stay. We had issues with laundry and they promptly helped us. Location is walkable to the beach and many restaurants. The hotel itself is a bit outdated but great value with free breakfast!
We stayed at the Empress Hotel in La Jolla and really enjoyed the location. It is close to restaurants, shops, and the beautiful La Jolla coastline, which made it very convenient for our visit. The hotel is comfortable and an affordable option for anyone wanting to stay in the area. Our stay had a few bumps along the way, but the manager ultimately worked with us and helped make things right. We appreciated...
Loved being there - great location - could walk to beach and many bars and restaurants. Girls at the desk were fabulous - fun to speak with, had knowledge about the area and were very accommodating. Rooms with king beds have a nice little seating area. It was a perfect place to stay to attend a rooftop wedding. Five stars!
Beautiful and wonderful staff! I stayed here for a wedding close to the hotel. It was partially booked from a third party (blame the husband lol) but I added a night from the official site. I was so worried about changing rooms the DAY of the wedding, but Tenasha (I hope I spelled that right, apologies of not) and Sydney were very helpful and accommodated my guest and me well. I didn't get to chat...
Lovely hotel - the rooms were big and spacious , very clean and the nice. The location of this hotel is excellent - it’s walkable from great restaurants, la Jolla Beach and accessible by cabs and bus . I would stay here agian

I stayed for a total 6 nights here. My flight arrived early in the morning and they offered me an early check-in even without requesting earlier. Enjoyed my stay here, the room is big. The breakfast is complimentary and it is tasty.
5 minutes to old town. Plenty of parking lots, but not guaranteed to be available to all hotel guests. Breakfast is limited. Coffee is above average. The overall hotel facilities and room quality is overstated in description and photo. Do not expect too much, even at this price.
The room was fine, the price was reasonable, and the hotel's courtyard offered pleasant views.
Good location for getting to work in downtown or La Jolla, or the airport. The room was a standard motel layout but better furnished, although it’s a bit damp and somewhat smelly. Not very quiet because of the Pacific Highway. Simple breakfast.
The hotel even has a swimming pool, which was a pleasant surprise. The reception area was decorated lovelyly and warmly upon entry. It's suitable for travelers arriving by car, with plenty of rooms and parking. It's an older hotel, and the facilities seem quite dated. Breakfast is rather simple. The hotel is located not far from the highway exit, near the airport; finding restaurants requires a walk...
Very nice hotel with very spacious rooms and a kitchenette. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We really appreciated the option of borrowing board games from the hotel. Good breakfast.

Comfort Inn Gaslamp Convention Center, San Diego1 / 27

Stayed here Friday night, May 15 to go see P!nkat Petco Park. Excellent room excellent location for any event in downtown San Diego more banged for your buck than the Marriott down the street. Trust me when I tell you that breakfast was amazing afternoon tea coffee all day long and have a little cute courtyard. You can get cozy with your wife.
If you need a cheap place to stay in Gaslamp district within walking distance this is okay. It was clean, nothing fancy. Staff at front desk was friendly with helpful suggestions on where to eat or how to get to places! We stayed in a double bed room. The bed was brick hard! This room was too small for two people. I have been on 50 plus cruises and it seemed smaller than an inside cabin. This...
Great location with friendly staff, but some room issues The location is excellent—plenty of restaurants and local shops within easy walking distance. The hotel itself is older but well-maintained and quiet. Our room had a few maintenance issues: the sink drained very slowly, and the ceiling fan and light didn’t work at all. Parking is the main drawback at $50/night through the hotel. There’s a lot...
The staff (Celeste and another gentleman we did not catch the name of) were incredibly kind and accommodating. We had several one-off requests that they didn't blink an eye at and did it with a smile. We have traveled quite a bit and this is some of the best service we have had. The room was comfortable with great beds and cold a.c. The only downside was there was a dead cockroach on the floor, hair...
Great location, 10 minutes walk to the convention center. Nice and clean room, a bit small but enough for 1 person. Sink is outside bathroom next to the bed, which might be upsetting for some. Breakfast is included, which is a huge plus. Staffs are very helpful with my reservation issue during the check-in and stored my luggage for the day after check-out.
I stayed one night here for sightseeing in San Diego and to watch a Padres baseball game. The hotel is in a very convenient location, within walking distance of the stadium and with plenty of restaurants nearby. The room was clean and spacious enough for a solo traveler. Breakfast was also provided, including yogurt and fruit.

Loved the 24/7 amenities of hot water and regular water, and staff were always available, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and there were plenty of options. A great stay!
The room was excellent, the bed comfy and amenities were very nice. Breakfast had many options including 3 waffle makers with two flavors of batter. The staff overlooking the breakfast area were very helpful and worked hard to keep everything stocked and clean. My one negative is having to pay to park at a hotel you’re already paying to stay at. It’s ridiculous to add an additional fee on to stay...
Well, everything was fine, clean, spacious, and the breakfast wasn't bad. And the hotel has everything you need.
It was very coean, staff was super friendly.
Good environment and high cost performance.

The room was spotless. The staff were nop notch. Breakfast was short handed. A great stay. So convenient for all amenities. we'll be back.
Staff were super sweet when I arrived last minute late due to my other accommodations not working out. Check in was smooth and quick. Once entering my room it was perfectly put in place and was able to reset/refresh feeling safe & comfortable. Loved the water in room as well!
Great stay excellent concierge and staff experience. My only thing to note was their not being a microwave for guest to use. This can be helpful even for guest traveling with kids
Adorable, nice hotel in a great part of town. Close to waterfront, gaslamp & little Italy. Friendly staff and rooms were nice. Rooms are small but nice.

It was a wonderful experience. The place is quiet, and there's a simple but lovely breakfast. The room is large and very clean; there were no insects or anything harmful. We chose "suite" oceanview. Suite is overstating, as was really 2 beds in single room with 2 person table and small balcony. Was reasonably clean and beds very comfortable. View amazing. We stayed in the suite with the King bed. Best view of the ocean! Clean room, open shared patio with beach view and nice staff. Great location, lots of good food options nearby especially OB Surf Lodge for breakfast and Mike’s Tacos for lunch. Would highly recommend!

Nice room, clean hotel. The pool created an unique ambiance in combination with the retro vibes
I was able to check in to my room early and the front desk person was very accommodating. Great proximity to the piers and walk to coffee. The room was adorable but was showing wear & could use some upkeep in a few places (bathroom door warping). Overall definitely worth the value and then design is mid-century mod and totally a vibe! Overall the rooms are comfortable and the hotel has a nice aesthetic. Room was clean but some mold was visible in the bathroom because of poor ventilation. The bar was closed which was unfortunate but understandable given the new year. The location is great with nearby food options and coffee, and the staff are friendly.
Clean and aesthetically pleasing room, super nice staff, amazing food at pony boy and drinks. Parking was a breeze. Can’t wait to come back

Facilities and cleanness of establishment could be better. Shower heads need maintenance and the toilets need more upkeep.
The room was clean and nice. There is plenty of parking, which is nice in thst area around Shelter Island. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance.
It was clean. Yes, there's staff was courteous except the once when we checked in, not approachable.
Staff at the Wyndham are very polite and professional. Room was an excellent choice for a 3 day relax. I like seeing the renovation work.
The room was clean. It was equipped with everything needed ( Small fridge, microwave, coffee maker...etc). The swimming pool was great. Staff was nice and professional. I enjoyed my stay there, and I'll visit there again. Thank you all
Odd building.  Narrow hallways, maze like.  Elevator is tiny.  Room was small and cramped.  Unpleasant combination of elevator, hallways and stairs to get to our room.   Nice simple snack shop in lobby.  Nice pool.  $50 deposit on a card when you check in.  I wanted to hate the place because of the building design but didn’t.

It was an outstanding experience the Customer service ,maintenance, housekeeping helped to get all I needed to be comfortable.I appreciate it
Parking on-site, easy and friendly check-in. Sadly, the walls are a bit thin, so you hear noisy neighbors. Rooms were clean and good value for the money. Right next to the freeway.
Staff was welcoming and responsive when we checked in Christmas night. The room was an average motel room, Rm 210. We could hear the room upstairs where someone was moving heavy things for a good hour altho we had the tv on. The five pillows on the bed were very small so we requested more so our backs would be cushioned against the headboard. Sheets looked ancient and grayish. Please use bleach on...

Yes, the beach view was unobstructed. The sound of the surf lulled me to sleep. The sunsets were astounding.
The room was clean and the staff were very nice. We arrived early and they let us check in as soon as the room was cleaned. The location was fantastic!

It’s nice but their breakfast place is so small
The location felt rather remote, the service was so-so, and the food was average, but it got very crowded during mealtimes. There was no room service, and we waited a long time for towels. The only good thing was that they arranged our check-in in advance.
Parking spaces are atrociously tight and it always run out if you return late at night, decent room located next to sea world so not bad but be cautious with parking if you are driving here.
We booked a double bed, but the room we were given had two beds. We only provided two bottles of mineral water, no matter how many days we stayed. There was a smell when we first entered the room. Yes it was clean and tidy everything was great breakfast was good and has some variety of options pretty good for the price..
Walking distance to very good restaurants and a donut shop and liquor store!
Check in went smooth, the parking lot is very small and hard to get my midsize truck in and out, but it was free parking. The room was nice but kind of old. Not updated really. A LOT of traffic trying to maneuver in and out of the drive ways. A bit of traffic noise. But all in all worth a night.
The room has a microwave, which is very useful. Breakfast was average, with eggs and meat, and enough to fill you up. The room was above average in cleanliness, but the soundproofing was poor; you could clearly hear the door across the hall opening and closing.

I am in San Diego twice a month and always stay at The Riverleaf The staff is very friendly and helpful Is clean and a great value It's better than some 5 star hotels
The front desk worker, Sheila was truly a heavensend. We showed up late but she was professional and helpful. She had an amazing attitude. Inly complaint is the location is extremely secluded, which is peaceful but is difficult to navigate and i was unable to find a walkable path out of the area.
The beds were uncomfortable, the mini fridge didn’t work. But other than that the staff was very nice and very helpful.
Have been staying at Riverleaf for over 3 years now. It is my favorite budget friendly down to earth little hotel close to everything. It is simple but comfortable. Friendly and awesome staff. You can find very good deals online. I noticed that they did some remodeling and guest rooms have fresh paint and fresh appliances. New bedding, brand new towels, new mini fridge. Housekeeping is always on top...

We stayed at the Howard Johnson in Hotel Circle and were very satisfied with our stay. It’s a good choice if you’re visiting Seaworld, Sesame Place, the San Diego Zoo, USS Midway, the Maritime Museum, malls, or seeing family. Most places are 1–4 miles away, which made the trip easy. Everything was great. Besides the extreme noises from next door rooms. The banging on walls was extremely hard. We had to call help desk to let them know. Besides that issue the place was great. Location has many great restaurants, gas stations, near and freeway access. Thank you.
Room was under whelming, strong smell of cleaning products. Room was only cleaned every other day even though room service was requested. Still a decent stay for the price. Not the best part of town and also the last few days were terrible due to very very noisy second floor renters.
We encountered an issue at check in... we were assigned a room that had not yet veen cleaned from the previous guest. They did assign a new one, but it was smaller. Overal our stay was ok, however, we thought the rate we were given was all we hadbto pay. We were surprised with a deposit we were not counting on, and were told a refund of said deposit would take several days after our check out.
Nice hotel! Close to many dining options, walking distance to the blue line. Also close to the freeway
Staff members were very courteous and helpful. I reported to staff that Room 145 had a lot of rust on most metal surfaces in the bathroom.
Clean, hot shower, fridge, microwave, black out shade, great mattress, staff took delivery of many packages, lots of parking and no reports of theft or damage during my two weeks, good value, central location, 5-10 minutes walk to the Trolley, bus service near by, many businesses as well.
