A bit run down. Needs a refresh and cut the constant thumping club music in the lobby. Nobody wants to hear that at 7:00 AM!

I am giving this hotel 1 star because the experience was completely unacceptable and far below the minimum standard expected from a Kimpton property. We are loyal Kimpton guests and have always had great experiences, including a wonderful stay at the Kimpton Epic Hotel Miami, where we checked out the very same day we checked into the Surfcomber. The contrast was shocking.
Upon arrival, our room had an unbearable, disgusting smell. When we reported this to the staff, their only attempt to fix it was spraying artificial perfume, which just mixed with the odor and made it worse.
We requested a room change, but were told the hotel was full. Management was not able to offer a real solution. It was 1:00 AM and I was with my family, effectively forced to stay in a room with a repulsive odor because we had nowhere else to go.
I am deeply disappointed, to say the least. This property does not represent the Kimpton brand quality we know and trust. I cannot recommend staying here.

Poor service, noisy rooms, uncomfortable beds. I had to pay the resort fee twice, once with ******* and again when I left the resort.

The room was clean but smaller than expected. The hotel is lovely but was under construction so no gym. I liked the proximity to the beach.

The air freshener in the lobby is waaay too strong and overpowering. If you have allergies or asthma it is difficult to endure. Air conditioner is very loud when it kicks on at night. The doors slam loud so you other dorrs slamming shut late at night and early in the morning. They have construction next door and if you use the pool, you listen to the drilling and construction sounds. The pool water gets really warm. The beach is nice and tge beach chairs are more comfortable than at the pool. The hotel has a good location.

Great hotel, great location, staff was very nice. Our only criticism - we asked twice for housekeeping to be sent to our room. We were gone for six hours and they never showed up.

Nice staff! Food was good at the outdoor bar area. Loved the sparkling pool and easy beach access. Be careful on the steps. Cool looking restaurant and bar off lobby. Didn’t have time to try but very fun and casual looking.

Staff, particularly Jameisha at the front desk. It was my birthday and she made me feel like a queen my entire stay. And the pool waiters were great. Can’t say more good things about The Kimpton Surfcomber!

The room was clean, and hotel was quiet. The construction next door didn’t bother us as it was only for a few hours during the day.
The happy hour was especially nice in the lobby each day, as was the morning coffee.
The beach was lovely, although service on the beach was very slow.
Friendly service all around. Would stay here again

When we arrived the hostess was short and rude, just really acted like someone who hated her job and everyone that csme in there. we only had 4 out of our 6 people in the party and she said she couldn't seat us. We told her we were going to order apps and drinks... finally she seated us but only at a four person table. She said we could "slide up two more chairs when they got there".

The servers were mostly nice after that, but the service was extremely slow and undependable. The food was decent at best but WAY over priced, especially for the quality.

The food is good but the service is awful! If I could provide no stars I would. Sit in the bar, the servers are much friendlier up there! Our waiter disappeared. We were the first reservation to show up and the room was empty so we weren't even that busy. Then the manager shows up long after we requested the bill, like 30 mins after and has an attitude with us. Again no waiter in sight... Now he can't split the bill for us and gives an attitude about it when someone in be party asked. I don't spend spend 100 bucks for dinner to wait and be yelled out... Not worth it!

I love this place! Beautiful people everywhere. The music is awesome the decor is smashing, food... 99th percentile for sure as far as Japanese cuisine on the beach.

Came here to have a romantic date, was seated so close to another couple that the vibe was destroyed. Checked the menu, prices were outrageous, decided to try an appetizer anyway. Had the beef tartare, completely disappointed for the price... I can make better beef tartare at home...

For the price, I would've expected an overall superior experience to what we had. We ended up going to Ferraro's Kitchen Restaurant and Wine Bar, which was a far more welcoming experience from start to finish.

Buffet was horrible. Old food, not fresh, warmed up for like hours. The drinks were horrible and the sweets were left in room temperature for hours. But the staff was pretty great.
