When I checked into the hotel the receptionist very rudely and aggressively demanded a security deposit. I had prepaid with Agoda so this was expected, but could have been done in a much more professional and courteous manner. The carpets in the hallway were very worn and most of the hotel appeared to be very dated. I paid extra for a room with a window, but the window faced a concrete wall that was about two feet away. The room was very dark and the furnishings were very old and damaged. I think this might have been a very nice hotel twenty or thirty years ago. Renovations were underway during my stay. This started very early in the morning and ended very late at night. I tried to have breakfast at the hotel one morning but was turned away as it wasn't included in the rate I paid. Apparently you are unable to purchase a meal separately. The hotel looks very nice from the outside and has a certain charm in a Jack Nicholson/The Shining sort of way. The rooftop was not accessible due to construction, but the view wasn't very good anyway.

This is a great hotel, friendly local staff. Food great too, Western style buffet at breakfast but great local dishes too. Bok Choi in oil is delicious. Mainly Chinese here, so if uninterested in mixing with locals & trying out your Mandarin. Then go to a Hyatt hotel or elsewhere.
Personally I loved it, I’ve stayed several times. An easy walk from Tianamen Square East station.
Once again I love this place, anyone interested in mixing with locals..book this place😊 🇨🇳

This hotel is in an excellent location. A stone's throw away from Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and all the major central tourist spots.

The room was a good size, clean and with a great bed.

There's a rooftop bar and restaurant. You can see tge CCTV tower, and the edges of Tiananmen Square.

Location was quite good, probably about 10-15 mins walk from Wangfujing subway station and from Tiananmen. However, room was very warm (funny to say this during winter but trust me) and the air that came out of central vent was very dry. The controller for the ac/heater wasn’t working although the display showed the temperatures. Not sure if the hotel is undergoing renovation (we weren’t informed about anything) but construction noises started Everyday at 8am. We were given a non-smoking room but smoke wafted in every night and filled the stagnant air in the room. Hotel is old as what the other reviews stay. Choose this place only for its convenience.

Requested a non smoking room - gave me a room that smelled like smoke. Moved me to two single beds room when I had paid for ‘double business room’, when I refused to stay there they ‘upgraded’ me to some other room with a small lounge and a small bedroom. The staff were helpful but the hotel is a big no go. It is advertised as 4 star but it is barely 2. It isn’t clean, there is mould on the ceiling, the towels smell like cigarettes and old food, the furniture is dated and you can smell cigarettes when you sit down. The heating isn’t working - temparatures drop to 3-4 degrees at night in November, the room is freezing. Locals smoke in the corridors of the hotel which are meant to be ‘non smoking’ - we found some smoked cigarettes by the lift. Bad wifi. Yes, location is convenient l, but trust me it is not worth staying here at all.

Very good location! I needed a room quickly and was not looking to pay a lot. Pictures show very nice rooms. I got a room with no windows. But for the price and location, it's not bad. Room is clean and staff was pleasant. Can't expect much for $70 canadian and this location. So overall it's okay. I'm sure other rooms are great. But obviously will pay more. So just for location alone I'd say try it out.

The location of the TianAn Regards is excellent. Between Wangfujing and Tiananmen Square, it is walking distance from most sites in Beijing. Rooms vary greatly in size. We have stayed twice: once in October and once in May. This has lead us to the conclusion that the rooms do not have functioning heating and cooling, despite controls on the wall. Weather was quite nice in May, with highs in the upper 70s F, but the rooms on the fourth floor we're stifling. There is a small window in each room, but with only one with a small opening, it afforded little cross breeze. There are no fans. If staying in spring or summer, ask for a room on a lower floor. Beds are reasonably comfortable; the larger the bed, the stiffer they are. Overall, I would stay here again, but ensure I book a room on the appropriate floor for hot or cold weather.

So much fun we ate on the rooftop terrace where we stayed for late night drinks. The food was so satisfying and beautifully prepared. Staff bent over backwards for us. The best long island ice tea ever had!!

Very average room, got a way smaller room than in pictures, dark and dingy lighting in the bathroom, reception didn’t speak much English which made it hard for international visitors, room had all your toiletries though, toothbrush, shampoo, combs and shower caps, breakfast was very odd and people always loud in the hallways on their phones or just chatting.

A nice quaint clean hotel. The bed was hard and the thermostat didn't work. But truthfully, it was a wonderful place to stay and I would stay again.

Manage to be in before 9 pm!
