The 28th floor of the International Hotel features a revolving restaurant. It offers views of the area within Beijing's Second Ring Road. Located at No. 9 Jianguomen Inner Street, Beijing International Hotel has no taller buildings nearby, so the view is superb. South-facing rooms overlook the bustling traffic on Chang'an Avenue below, and Beijing Railway Station is just a few hundred meters to the south. The Jianguomen subway station, an interchange for Line 1 and Line 2, is conveniently located right outside, making getting around very easy.
Downsides:
1. There's a slight scent of renovation in the room.
2. The housekeeping staff needs more training. They should understand that while cleaning, they should not move or rearrange guests' belongings without permission. This can make guests feel insecure and erode their trust in the hotel.
3. The indoor lighting system is confusing to use. Although it's quite smart, guests should be given instructions on how to use it upon check-in.
4. I specifically booked a room with executive lounge access. During the day, the lounge only offered tea, with no snacks or fruit whatsoever. It was completely deserted during the day. I had intended to have a simple dinner at the executive lounge to avoid eating out, but the 'simple meal' was far too basic and, more importantly, tasted very poor. It felt as if they didn't want you to enjoy the food at all. The executive lounge's food was probably the worst part of this stay; other hotels' executive lounges are far superior to Beijing International Hotel's. It was precisely because I had such good experiences with executive lounge privileges at other hotels that I booked this room type. It was quite disappointing; we barely ate at the lounge, making the expensive room type a waste.
