The Grand Gloria Hotel in Batumi

When staying at a hotel in Batumi you need to keep in mind that aside from international brands, other hotels (local brands such as Grand Gloria etc.) fail to keep up with standards considering the stars they have been claimed to have. So the Grand Gloria is actually a 4-star property, a top 4-star at best. The hotel is, I think, the only property that has direct beach access which is a plus. This is while guests at all other hotels in that area need to cross the boulevard running along the coast in order to access the beach. The cities biggest mall, Grand Mall, is right across the street and the property is ideally located within walking distance to many restaurants, stores, and tourist attractions. The sea view rooms are larger than city view ones, have balconies, and give you spectacular views. It’s not worthy to opt for city view rooms as they are only US$7 cheaper per night and the street noise is a real nuisance. My wife and I, along with another couple, had booked sea view rooms for 5 nights, which were paid in full in advance, but we were informed a couple of days prior to our stay that there were no sea view rooms available for our first two nights there. Although we were refunded for the price difference, I still accept a 4 or 5-star property to upgrade guests when there’s such a mix-up instead of downgrading them. Nonetheless, I can’t say for sure if this was the hotel’s fault or that of our travel agent. The rooms could use a bit of renovation, but were acceptably clean with the upside being the beds, the mattress and bed sheets in particular, which were really comfortable. Housekeeping and room service was good and the only issue was that both at our fist check-in and also the second one when we exchanged rooms, no one brought up our luggage and after 40 minutes I had to go down to the lobby and take them to our room myself. Breakfast was good and fresh; there was a wide variety to choose from and although fresh fruit juice was not an option, fresh fruits were always on the table. The hotel’s attentive staff were always available to take my order of my favorite omelet or hot beverage. Check-in and check-out were smooth and as quick as possible. Overall, I recommend this property if you do not wish to spend 15%-20% more on high-end properties, but if money is not an issue, definitely go for international 5-star hotels in Batumi so that you can really enjoy 5-star quality.

Generally it was a nice and pretty place, near the beach andclose to a big mall. The breakfast buffet was diverse. It would be better with some Georgian options added. The staff were helpful and the reception was responsive. Our room was quite and clean, but the bathroom floor was not properly washed. Another unexpected problem was ants!! There were many ants in the room and we had to be careful about the sweets. We were three people but the extra bed was small and relatively uncomfortable. The toiletries were complete and refilled daily. The pools and sauna were good but the gym was available only after 10 am which is pretty late for me.

The hotel is not new, but you want to return to it and that says a lot. Very polite and helpful staff, special thanks! The room is quite cozy, the beds are good. The breakfast is excellent, everything you need, except red fish) They make a delicious omelet upon request. Swimming pool inside with warm water 30 degrees. There is underground parking. Wi-fi is available even on the beach. I think it’s even more beautiful here in the summer, but the prices are different.

Fabulous! Clean, comfortable, friendly staff, great location! I would especially like to note the original architecture and design. A constant feeling of lightness, warmth and comfort. Excellent cuisine - breakfasts and lunches with a large selection, taste and excellent presentation. Best wishes to all the staff. I would like to visit again.

A very beautiful hotel, but, naturally, very expensive, mostly rich Turks live there.
