Magda Hotel in Kato Gouves

Mike was excellent. I had a shoulder impingement and I am now able to move my shoulder and arm so much better! My daughter had a relaxing massage by Ifigeneia and she found it amazing and extremely relaxing. We would highly recommend both!!

We stayed at this hotel for a week and we really enjoyed it despite a few issues.

The room was not best part of the stay as it had many issues. We stayed in a swim up room in the new building and the room was very modern. Unfortunately, the shower head was blocked due to limescale and the toilet was leaking every time it was flushed. This was disappointing as the room was only a year old. It also lacked storage especially for a week long stay and we were a bit surprised we had to make our own bed (the sheet was just put on the bed). Fortunately, the swim up area was very nice with lots of space!

We visited the hotel in October and the temperature of the pool was quite cold but we found a rooftop pool in a nearby building which was warmer. There is also an inside pool but it gets quite noisy and smell a lot of chlorine. There are many pools at the hotel which means they are never crowded and we really enjoyed that !

The food was decent for an all inclusive hotel with the grill section the highlight of the kitchen! We really liked the availability of Greek yogurt with honey at every meal and the freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast ! The bar was not too busy and we always managed to find a cocktail without waiting too long.

The staff was definitely the highlight of the stay! They were professional and always happy to help, it made such a big difference !

It’s a great hotel to recommend for a few days in Crete !

Beautiful hotel. Hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. Buffet restaurant. Entertainment was good, if you go to hotels and like to be Entertained. They spoke French, English and German the entertainers.

No direct beach, but 5 min walk to it. Shops and cafes outside hotel 1 min walk directly outside.
At beach put pay 10 euros day for 2 chairs and umbrella. Beach and water was amazing. Clean and tidy. Toilet by cafe which just went to. Could buy water and other drinks. Really enjoyed our time together.

Gorgeous hotel, clean and the staff are all lovely. The beds were super comfy but only had one pillow each although we were given extras after asking at reception. There were lots of pools and when we went, with no fights for sunbeds. This was October though. The literature states that you can't save sunbeds for later which seemed to stop the breakfast rush to claim them! The rooftop pool was beautiful and quiet for the serious sunbathers and there were two lower pools which were more family friendly. The guests are mainly French so the entertainment is aimed towards them but they mix in English too. Even if we didn't always understand everything, it was still fun. The food was varied and there was something for everyone although, being vegetarian, it was disappointing that sometimes the bean salads had meat added to them which limited my options. I never went hungry though and everything was delicious. The bar had poocorn/peanuts and ice cream all day/evening if you wanted a snack and freshly made pizza and waffles were available from 3pm. The main bar was open from 10am daily. The all inclusive drinks were varied and everyone found a favourite cocktail. Good range of spirits included too and the coffee & hot chocolate from the machines was good quality.
After 11pm, the entertainment ended and you had to pay for drinks which meant it went quiet at that time. This was perfect for families. There is a beach about 2 minutes walk away but the hotel don't have any sunbeds/umbrellas on the beach. You can hire a set for about 20 euros or there's space to just use a towel if you prefer. (You can hire a beach towel from the hotel for a small deposit if you haven't brought your own). The beach is clean, with shallow water and a life guard. There are lots of waves which come from the water sports nearby. There are lots of little tourist shops near the hotel and there are more shops/bars along the sea front. If you follow the sea front to the right and turn right after about 10 minutes, there is a high street of sorts with some nice jewellery shops, clothes shops and a supermarket. There is an aquarium nearby and lots of shops to organise excursions. We went to Water City waterpark, which was a really good day out.
As is typical in Greece, some of the area isn't so pretty, with derelict and unfinished buildings, especially if you go left along the seafront. We had a great holiday and would recommend!!

Stayed for 1 week in this beautiful, clean well maintained hotel. We booked a swim up room which was absolutely glorious. We were very lucky as our room had the sun all day whereas the majority of others didn't. Pools were a little cold but then again it was October so what did I expect. Drinks were all self service so no queuing apart from cocktails but they were served very quickly. Food was generally very good with different varieties ranging from Greek traditional, salads, tapenade, fish, pizzas & a little French & German cuisine. Chocolate ice cream & baklava were superb. If I had 1 criticism it would be the food could be a little warmer but I'm being a little picky. The lady who cleaned the swim up rooms(I'm sorry as I didn't catch her name, small lady who loved the cats)is an absolute credit to the hotel as she did a fantastic job for us on a daily basis. My wife and I have already discussed coming back as there seems to be an extention on to the Magda across the road and it looks absolutely fantastic. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel completely at home. The service throughout our visit was outstanding, but one member of staff in particular really stood out. Her name was Fanta Kamara — her friendliness, attention to detail and genuine care made all the difference. Nothing was too much trouble; they went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. It’s rare to come across such genuine hospitality these days, and it truly elevated our experience. A huge thank you for making our visit so enjoyable — we’ll definitely be back soon, and will be recommending this place to friends and family!

We have been to this hotel before and always get a great welcome from Maria, Natassa and Efeteria. All the staff are friendly. The hotel is in a good location with several shops and tavernas close by and more if you want to walk a bit further. The beach is also a couple of minutes' walk away with two loungers and a parasol available to rent for 10 euros. There were always loungers available at the hotel. We enjoyed the food which included roasts, fish, pasta, pizza and traditional Greek dishes. There was also a vast choice of desserts and fruit. Self-service drinks meant there were rarely queues at the bar but cocktails were made quickly and were pleasant. After 11.00pm when the all inclusive finished drinks could still be purchased at reasonable prices until 1.00am. What spoils this hotel is the animation. The hard work and enthusiasm can't be faulted but the content really is lacking. The animation is provided by a French company and, whilst they were speaking some English, it got lost in the excitement and French accent. The content did feel very much like a 1960's holiday camp though the French did seem to lap it up. I really think the animation needs to be looked at so that everyone can listen and know what is going on - maybe more along the line of the pink/white party. As mentioned, we have been before but this year was the worst animation yet. Some of the French guests also came across as rude and the karaoke felt quite intimidating when a French guest kept getting up to 'sing' and was inciting the other guests to chant and scream. It can be a bit disconcerting when you don't know what they're chanting. Overall, we enjoyed our holiday (fortunately the animation is only a small part of it) and we shall probably return to this hotel in the future.

Had a fantastic time. Beautiful clean hotel. We stayed in a new superior room which was lovely & the air con worked. Always found something to eat & the salads at lunchtime were amazing. No issue with the drinks either. Massive shout out out to Rheya who worked on the bar. She had our drinks pored whilst pouring others! Did eat out a couple of times just for a change. Always found a sunbed. Did a trip to Spinalonga which is a must do plus the 4x4 Safari Cruise which is also amazing. We also went to a Greek evening in a Greek village which was also good.

So, we stayed here, myself, my husband, Mother and my 16 month old daughter. The hotel is lovely, well kept and the pools are great. No need to fight for sunbeds. Personally, we found the food great. There's a lot of variety, my daughter had no issues eating. She eats what we eat and there were things like pizza, spaghetti bolognese, chips (nutritious I know but what kid doesn't like chips). Not only that there's an abundance of fruit and my daughter loves strawberries. The staff are great, there was a young chap who was often at the back of the seating area who was so kind and friendly to my daughter she became best friends with him. The room was fine, we had one of the dated rooms but it wasnt unpleasant, the bed we found comfortable and the aircon worked, bonus during the heat. The entertainment we struggled with a bit as there is a lot of French so we personally felt this was catered to. But then if you have a majority of guests being French you are going to primarily speak French. The team are great at working hard to keep guests entertained and the vibe was great! Now we had an incident that really put the test to the hotel. Our daughter became unwell with sickness. We went down to request a visit to the doctor at 9am and requested our beds to be changed ASAP as our daughter had thrown up over one. With her being poorly she was sleeping a lot so we could guarantee that after the visit to the doctor she would want to go straight to bed. We came back from the doctor at 11.30 and our beds still hadn't been changed. I went down at 11.45 to inform reception and was told that the cleaning team follow a schedule and I said but in the event of an emergency and she wants to sleep could this not be made a priority. I was told they would do it as soon as possible but it wasnt done for another hour. I approached a member of staff later in the evening who I'm so sorry I cant remember his name but it began with a V. He was brilliant, I wanted to feedback that in the event of an emergency can an exception not be made to change the bed as soon as. He listened to my point and wrote it down to approach management with the suggestion. Not only this my daughter then threw up downstairs (we took her out for a change of scenery), he was straight on it to help. Then, we were due to check out the next day and were praying we could keep the room as late as possible due to my daughter being poorly. He told us to speak to Maria, this lady was a miracle worker! She managed to get us a different room that we could keep until 8pm and we didnt need to leave until 7.50pm. This allowed my daughter to sleep when she needed to. Personally, I wouldn't go back but only for the reason that I think there wasnt enough to entertain my daughter and a splash pad would be safer for her. She enjoyed the pool but wouldn't tolerate it and always wanted a wonder. If me and my husband went then we would absolutely love it and wouldn't hesitate to go back!

This is our 2nd visit, we stayed in the swim up room, which was fantastic. It had everything you needed, the food and drinks were excellent, all the staff were amazing and were very welcoming, friendly and helpful, we had treatments at the spa which was awesome, the hotel has a few different pools if you want a relaxing pool, one with all activities and roof top pool there is something for everyone, Hopefully will be back next year to see all the amazing staff thanks you making our holiday special
