5 star hotels on first line in Crete

The hotel is perfectly pleaaant but lacks the nuanced touches of a genuine 5 star. Some ameneties such as the playground and playarea are tired but the food in the restaurants is hearty and satisfying. Our room with a pool was lovely for a family of three and modern.

Amazing, very family friendly resort, sparkling clean, very friendly staff, amazing food, mini club, animation team-all was great. Rooms of a great size, special thanks to our cleaner. Great spot if you plan on taking a ferry to santorini, its a 20 minute walk. Breakfast was nice here. Only downside was paper thin walls on the first floor, youll be able to hear your neighbors if they are loud!

It was about a 5-minute taxi ride from the bus station, we could use the beach in front, and our room was spacious and open, so we were able to relax. There was a pool inside the hotel, so we went for a swim to relax instead of getting a massage.

Scala de Faro is a small, historic boutique hotel in Chania, Crete. Because it is fairly small and is in a very old building, you will have to walk a flight of stairs to get to the rooms and the small elevator (although there is accommodation for the handicapped). Everything about our stay was superb - the room, the service (morning breakfast & room cleaning) and especially the front desk personnel and their very personalized attention to our requests for information, advice and assistance. Excellent location, staff super helpful and friendly. Clean and tidy with twice a day room service. Only down side was TV didn't work for 4 days despite being brought to house keeping attention which minor but not a true 4 / 5 star service. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Not 5 stars – there’s room for improvement. The food and drinks are below expectations. Most drinks taste artificial and the buffet selection could be better. The staff are generally very friendly and helpful. There aren’t many activities at the hotel, and a taxi to Rethymno takes about 15 minutes (€25). The rooms are nice and comfortable, though.

The hotel staff are all very friendly and professional, we had several treatments in the spa which were excellent. The rooms are clean and we had everything we need, except on some days, the coffee cream and tea wasn't restocked. This is a lovely hotel built in the style of a Greek village going down a hill to the sea. Our room was modern with a lovely sea view. The buffet breakfast and evening buffet meal in the main restaurant were very good as were the other restaurants. The staff were excellent and went out of their way to make out stay enjoyable.

A fabulous view across the bay this hotel did not disappoint. Great accommodation and we upgraded to the room with a private pool, well worth it. Great buffet breakfast with plenty of choice the alternative restaurants where an affordable treat with an extensive wine list offering both local and regional mainland options. I can recommend this hotel to friends and family.
