Aqua Sun Village in Hersonissos

I've just come back from this hotel (my trip was from the 10th of August till 17th). I would personally rate it for 3 stars only, as it doesn't meet all the requirements for 4 starts. Here is why. Such simple thing, yet there's no bottled water in rooms, food is excellent, but repeteable and often cold, there's rather limited choice of drinks, and truly all that 'all inclusive' is more of a myth than truth. Also, the location kind of sucks, as long as you are prepared for quite of a cardio each day. That hill is a killer. However, what also must be acknowledged is the fact the staff is simply marvellous and charming. I would like to give my special thanks to Antzela who works tirelessly at the pool bar, as well as Emma and Dan who work extremely hard at the restaurant, and also male receptionists, and the older cleaning lady. What a lovely group of people; they deserve a pay rise! Overall, it was a pretty nice stay, yet 3 stars is what it should be. 10 euros climate tax is quite ridiculous as well, but here we rather have the Greek government to blame ;)

We recently stayed here for a family vacation in Crete with my wife and two kids. The location and view were beautiful, just a short walk downhill to local shops and the beach. The walk back uphill in the heat is quite a workout, so make sure to bring a bottle of water. If that’s too much, taxis are available at a fixed rate of €10, which is good to know.

The room was okay, we had a sea view and the kids had a bunk bed, but it wasn’t very sturdy and made a lot of noise. The mattresses were very hard, and you could feel the springs, making it uncomfortable to sleep. If we return, we’d definitely book a family room with a separate bedroom for better comfort and rest.

The food was decent the cold salads were fresh, and buffet trays were refilled quickly. The coffee variety was good, but the soft drinks were flavorless and not refreshing. In the afternoon, leftover cakes from breakfast and lunch were served at the pool, which was fine, but there was no staff controlling how much people were taking. Some guests were stacking plates with excessive amounts and wasting food, which also happened during lunch and dinner. Having someone monitor portions could reduce waste and help the resort manage costs better.

Our kids absolutely loved the water park and the slides, which made the stay more enjoyable for them.

That said, the resort has SERIOUS SAFETY concerns. The tiles around the pools and walkways are extremely slippery. My wife fell and hit her head, and we also saw another guest fall down the stairs and broke her ankle. Slipping accidents happened almost constanly. Adding an anti-slip coating should be at top of there priority list.

To make things worse, my wife injured her back on one of the slides after going down too fast and hitting an exposed, unmarked water spout.

The lifeguards were not attentive, often glued to their phones instead of watching the pool. This is in my opinion NOT acceptable at a family resort.

Another thing to be aware of: there is no ATM at the hotel. The nearest ATM is downhill, which means another uphill walk in the heat if you need cash. You can rent beach towels, but only with cash, and there’s a €2 cleaning fee per towel.

Overall, we enjoyed the location, view, and the fun water park for the kids, but the lack of safety, food waste, poor sleeping comfort, and absence of basic facilities like an ATM made this a mixed experience. With the right improvements, this place has a lot of potential but as it stands, I would advise caution.

Was a very cool place for the kids. A little water park with like 6 slides and then two separate pools. Pool tables and mini golf.
Down side was just overall maintenance. It wasnt dirty but you could tell things were old and could be replaced. The pools have non stick on some of the ramps that really need to be replaced. All inclusive was nice. Included free drinks for kids and tap beer and wine. Food was ok. Buffet style. Dinner and lunch was decent. Breakfast kind of sucked though. Not the breakfast meal we expected. But overall a decent time. A good price for what you get. Not a fancy all inclusive but a decent one
