Exceptional Hospitality and a Dreamy Honeymoon Stay
Our stay at the Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel was undoubtedly the highlight of our honeymoon. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we were captivated by the hotel's sophisticated and timeless charm.
What truly set this stay apart was the extraordinary hospitality, including a complimentary room upgrade that made our stay incredibly comfortable and special. We were also deeply moved by the beautifully prepared dessert plate waiting for us in the room. This level of attention to detail made our honeymoon feel truly celebrated.
The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of Reykjavik, and every staff member we encountered was wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Iceland, especially for a special occasion. Thank you to the entire team for providing us with such an unforgettable start to our marriage!

A hotel experience that exceeded expectations. Located near bus stop #3, it's close to most of the recommended fine dining restaurants. The cinnamon roll bakery and the famous President Hot Dogs, also highly recommended, are nearby. Rainbow Street is about a 6-minute walk away.

My favorite parts of the hotel were the bathtub, the shampoo and conditioner signs, and the balcony with the view of the aurora borealis.

Overall, a very good experience.

This was a great hotel. The staff here are excellent and treat their guests as excellent as well. The rooms are big. There is no parking but you can street park or park in one of the many close parking garages (we had a large Toyota Land Cruiser that fit fine in the garage). The location is excellent, super central, you can literally walk to most of the places of interest, if you’re able. The only negative of the hotel is the walls are extremely thin, if this is an issue you should look for a hotel further out.

The front desk staff were rude. Someone knocked on our door in the early morning, and when we called the front desk, they said it was probably a drunk guest who had knocked on the wrong door and might be hiding in the stairwell. Their evasive answers only increased our anxiety. On our first night, we left our wet bathrobes on the floor in the basement bathtub. The next day, when they cleaned, the staff simply hung those two still-wet bathrobes in the bathroom. The tissue box on the bathroom table was completely empty and they didn't refill it!

We stayed here for 2 nights from December 31st to January 2nd. It was a great experience and very convenient for a New Year’s visit.

Room & Facilities:
We were in room 402 which was also excellent for New Year’s Eve as we could watch the fireworks from the roof terrace on the same floor. The room was very clean and stayed properly dark at night, which we appreciated. The complimentary minibar was a nice touch, stocked with beer, alcohol-free beer, soft drinks, and water.

Location & Walkability:
The location is a 10/10. It’s right in the center of everything and very walkable. For reference:
Harpa Concert Hall: About a 5-minute walk.
Laugavegur (Main Shopping Street): Less than 5 minutes away.
Reykjavik Old Harbor: Around 5–7 minutes on foot.
Hallgrimskirkja Church: An easy 10–12 minute walk uphill.
Rainbow Street: Just a few blocks away.

Service:
Check-in and check-out were both smooth and efficient. All the staff members we encountered were very helpful and professional.

We didn't try the breakfast or the bathhouse.

There is no parking on site but a car park less than a 1 min walk away. We parked for 2 days and was changed 6000 ISK.

This boutique hotel boasts a superb location, small yet beautiful, with complete amenities. It's a 5-minute walk to Harpa Opera House and a 10-minute walk to Hallgrímsv Church (an Icelandic landmark, also known as the Rocket Church or Healing Church). The surrounding area is filled with popular restaurants and well-known Icelandic brand stores. The hotel entrance is a bit hard to find; even after navigating Google Maps, I circled the building twice before finally finding the doorbell. Actually, there are entrances on both sides of the building (pictures 2 & 3), which is convenient for future guests.

Upon entering, you're immediately enveloped in a warm and comfortable atmosphere, instantly dispelling the chill of Iceland. It's truly understated luxury with a touch of sophistication. The reception desk is small, but the two receptionists have incredibly sweet and comforting smiles.

The room is exquisite and spacious, with impeccable attention to detail. While most Icelandic hotels don't provide disposable toiletries like toothbrushes and slippers, this one offers cotton swabs and shower caps (no toothbrushes). You get what you pay for; the linens are very comfortable, and the bed has the perfect firmness for a good night's sleep, helping you recover from the fatigue of your Icelandic trip.

The hotel also has a gym and a spa, but unfortunately we arrived late and had to join a tour group early the next morning, so we didn't get to use them. However, the environment looked fantastic.

Recommendation: The side entrance to the hotel lobby bar is a popular hot dog bar (picture 12). It's said that Clinton bought hot dogs there when he was President of the United States 🌭, and there's always a queue (interested friends can try it). I didn't try it 😁

Finally: Reykjavik is small, but Iceland is not. Its unique landscape and extraordinary natural scenery make it worth visiting, not only for the Northern Lights but also to experience a land unlike any other on Earth!

Excellent stay at the Konsulat Hotel in Reykjavik. Beautiful place with a retro 70s–80s vibe — dark leather, warm lighting, very cosy atmosphere. The room was spotless, with a super comfortable bed and everything felt brand new. The bathroom was also perfectly clean and high quality. The staff were all incredibly friendly and attentive. It’s on the pricier side compared to other hotels in Reykjavik, but the level of comfort and service absolutely justifies it. Truly a great experience overall.

Great stay for the night. The front desk is so nice and friendly, we felt very welcomed. Loved the welcome gift and happy hour for Diamond guest, breakfast was great too! We also enjoyed the thermal spa and sauna, everything was fantastic, would definitely come back again!

It was great that it was in a very convenient location for walking around town. When going on a tour, it was close to bus stop 3, so I didn't have to walk much when picking up or dropping off. The shower booth was spacious and comfortable.
