The hotel’s design emphasizes Icelandic characteristics, evident in the room amenities and minibar selections. Guests consistently praise the attentive and friendly front desk staff who provide personalized service. Location

Situated in Reykjavik’s Midborg district, Ion City Hotel is on Laugavegur, the city’s main pedestrian shopping street. Tips

  • Arrive prepared for a short walk from the parking area to the hotel lobby, especially if you have heavy luggage.

Amazing staff & hospitality. Can’t say enough how the front desk went above and beyond for my wife and I. 10/10 and would def recommend a stay here.

Great location, near all restaurants and shops
The room was superb and clean.

Parking wasn’t ideal at all, we had to park 5-10 mins away.

City hotel, street noise, but no restaurant, room service or hotel bar or lounge. Interesting neighborhood and nice room.

Parking was a little confusing but after we figured out where the lobby was and how to get to it we were fine.

Just had a 3-night stay at ION City. Staffs were all friendly and amazing. Location is in the core downtown tourism area of reykjavic so that could be pro or cons depending on what you like. It's a little bit loud outside especially if the room is towards the street, but window is reasonably sound-proof. One issue was that when I first arrived there were a few blood drops in the bath towels, but after I raised that issue the room service was all good for the rest of the stay. Overall 4/5.

Very quiet and clean. The sensor lights in the corridor are pretty cool. Good 👍Recommended

The restaurants nearby were excellent. The hotel is on a pedestrian only street. Difficult to get to as it requires a 10 minute walk with suitcases bouncing on a cobblestone street.

LOVED our stay here... the only thing we didn't like was the difficulty in finding a parking spot that wasn't too far away for toting our luggage. As it was, the closest we could get was a good 5-6 minutes walk dragging luggage behind us. Otherwise, it was a GREAT choice! Loved SUMAC - the attached restaurant. It was also wonderful being a couple does down from the SANDHOLT bakery.

The hotel is located on the main shopping street in Reykjavik, within walking distance of various attractions in the city. The hotel has a strong Icelandic design, and the amenities and mini bar are full of local Icelandic characteristics. The front desk staff are very enthusiastic. The hotel is small, and the entrance is even less conspicuous, so you have to look carefully for it.

It is the largest hotel I have stayed in in Iceland. The room is very spacious and clean! !
The reception service at the front desk is also very good.

A serious pizza to be fair. Great job. I'll be back again soon.

Try the ravioli. Very good. Order a pizza to go. The quantity is so less you would feel hungry soon.
27.12.2017 Magnus
F**ing disgusting. We were sitting next to the pizza maker. The heaters where behind us. The waiter then dropped our childrens pizza right in front of us, told us that they would make another one. The waiter put the pizza RIGHT ON THE HEATER BEHIND US. Then a few moments later he brought it back to us. Claiming it was a new one.

This was a nice experience - first dinner in the restaurant, then cocktails in the bar below. The restaurant is rather loud and often crowded, it seems, which is warranted by the food. Both the salted cod and the catch of the day were delicious. The bartenders know how to make cocktails, so you can safely order cocktails that are common but not on their menu. The bar below is rather small, but we were lucky enough to get a table in the corner with the couches. Reservations are highly recommended!

Amazingly delicious. Get the catch of the day. Classy yet mellow atmosphere. Swanky yet relaxing. Loved it.
24.11.2017 Philipp
Great place. Fun and lively atmosphere and well prepared food. The caramalized potatoes were amazing. We ordered the christmas menu but hope to return to try the duck leg as well. Service was great.

I was pretty disappointed with the food in Reykjavik until I came to Snaps. My mom and I came for dinner on a Thursday night but there was a 40 minute wait at 6:30pm... plenty of tables open but reserved. We didn't want to wait so we left, but came back on a Monday for lunch. There were barely any people there at noon. The catch of the day and the mussel appetizer were delicious!
23.09.2017 Jonas
This may be Reykjavik's best dinner spot. The selection of local dishes and seafood options were impressive. The staff was very attentive and bar staff was were very knowledgeable. I had a small selection of oysters and the mussels with frites. Don't miss this spot!

Delicious noodle with wide variety of soup bases.. staffs are very friendly and knowledgeable.. restaurant atmosphere is peaceful and cool.. they are on the more expensive side though in terms of pricing..

The food was good but I found on the higher side in terms of price. Location and atmosphere is nice.

Great, freshly prepared food. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Quick service. Recommended.
15.09.2017 Lars
When the food is ready, the chef yells at you like your parents would, if you had done something that was definitly not right! ? But the food is delicious, best noodles i've had in a long time. Everything is fresh and made from scratch!
28.07.2017 Katie
Super delicious noodle house with noodle soups with different bases. Very easy to get vegetarian options of all their dishes and they have a good range of spiciness to choose from. Went back twice, it was so good! Prices are decent for Reykjavik and the quantity was very generous.
