Overall, this is a decent hotel for the price. Nothing particularly bad, but also not amazing. Two things I would note, however: the front desk staff's grasp of English isn't the best (you will get by unless you have a very specific request), though they absolutely get points for trying; and, when you book a room with an external private bathroom what that means is that you get two keys - one for your actual room (which will have a sink and mirror, but no shower or toilet) and the other for a traditional bathroom elsewhere on the floor, but usually next to your room.

Well worth the US ~$100 per night. Facility isn't upscale but staff is reliable, breakfast is included, room is on the smaller end but comfortable, and it's located in very convenient walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Recommend.

Pros:
It's a close walk to San Lorenzo Market, near the train station, good restaurants around, and near laundrymats.
Cons:
Air conditioning didn't work well at all. Other reviews discussed how they tried to keep our passports and have us come down to get them in a bit - this was very true so we didn't let them do that and just waited.
We also didn't want the room cleaned and had the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. There was money out and all of our suitcases were open. However, they didn't listen to us and came in and cleaned the room, moved around all of our stuff, and we can only hope nothing was taken.
Then on the day we were checking out someone came in to clean while we were in the room although the "Do Not Disturb" sign was there again too. Completely an invasion of privacy!!
When we spoke to the owner/manager about this he was very rude to us. He didn't understand why it was a problem that they came into our room even though we had the sign up. He then started mocking us saying "if there was a man running in here we'd shoot him" so you're stuff is safe.
I'd stay away from this hotel. Who wants to give business to people this rude.

Great location, staff is very helpful & friendly, rooms a clean and well kept. Hotel City has a nostalgic feel to it. Great place to wind down after a long day exploring Florence!

This place has good & bad, making it ok overall. Positive: the rooms were fair. The showers are pleasant. The rooms are clean-ish. The mattresses actually pretty nice memory foam. The hotel is in a central area. The price for a night is quite reasonable.
The Cons: there is only one iron in the place. If you have to iron a shirt, you have to follow staff up to the top floor so they can dig out their iron and let you use it for a moment. The guy who works the front desk during the day will try to tell you he needs your room key every time you leave, which just seems incredibly suspicious. Plus when you first check in he will ask you to leave your passport with him so he can fill out his paperwork. And as others have noted, this place is noisy. You hear all the drunks outside screaming all night long. Bring earplugs to sleep.

The room was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was great! The bed was comfortable.
However, the walls were paper thin. We could hear all of our neighbors using the sinks, flushing the toilets, coughing, clearing their throats, scooting a chair across the floor, talking at normal volumes, etc. If we opened the window, we could also hear & smell a restaurant kitchen. Bring your earplugs!

Great hotel. Florence centre is a 10 min walk, SCAE of the historic buildings are located very close. On Saturday you can go to the market, which opened across the quarter. Delicious and hearty breakfasts, beautiful interior.

Fantastic hotel close to all the sites and far away from very few sites...
Charming Hotel with a florentine, breakfast very complete, decoration very successful and a first class service. Rooms large and very comfortable, and bathrooms with shower screens.
We stayed 3 nights and all the people were very attentive...
Essential sleep here if you spend a few nights in Florence both for rest how to get out to enjoy the night florentine!!!!

We are the group of 4 Thai tourists. We appreciated with the warm welcome of both the nice uncle and lady at the front desk. including the waitresses. The breakfast is also variety of food, dessert and fruit. Bathroom is nice and clean. Its location is 5-minute walk from Firenze S.M.N. We are happy to stay here : )

Great hotel. To the centre of Florence, 10 minutes on foot, SCAE of the historic buildings are located very close. On Saturday you can go to the market, which is a block away. A delicious and hearty Breakfast, beautiful interior.
