Reviews
We stayed here for a week during september and whilst there was nothing egregiously wrong with our stay, we find ourselves somewhat underwhelmed.
Firstly, this hotel advertises itself as a 'small luxury boutique hotel'. We do not agree with this assesment as whilst the hotel is certainley small, the service it provides and the facilities it contains are basic and expected, not luxurious. This left us feeling underwhelmed as luxury was expected especially at the advertised price.
The room we stayed in (triple) was deceptively small as the pictures have clearly been taken to be as flattering as possible. The room was extrememly thin and seemed to lack soundproofing in any sense, as we could hear entire conversations throughout the hotel. We had no view and struggled to even see the sky. The window was difficult to operate and lacked any mosquito protection resulting in my partner being eaten alive. RIP 🙏 Air conditioning worked well and the shower facilities were good although toiletries were basic (soap and shampoo) and a power shower would have been nice.
We were disapointed that when we arrived nobody was there to greet us and we had to let ourselves in, although we did appreciate having staff message us the door code on whatsapp otherwise we would have been homeless. Staff were generally friendly, some spoke english better than other however we didn't find this to be an issue. The attititude of staff is layed back however we didn't see this as a problem personally.
The breakfast selection was a standard continental, nothing to write home about and dissapointed that more local produce wasnt on offer.
The hotel was a bit far out from the centre for our liking however, public transport was good enough that this issue wasn't a major one. And tickets can be bought for the shop next door except on Sundays!
Do take note that the stairs up to the hotel are quite steep and after a night on the town this may be an issue.
To summarise, for what we payed (£800 for 7 nights) we were happy with the stay as is was decent. However at full price we would say that is wasn't worth it and to get somewhere closer for the price.
Also beware that the city tax is payed in cash at the end of the stay, so be prepared as its a ballache when you want to go home.
