Residence Il Castagno in Pistoia

Beautiful pool, very friendly owners and staff. Wonderful setting in the Tuscany hills, the drive alone to the pool is worth the trip. We just spend a day at the pool (not the apartments) and it's a great way to have a quiet and relaxing day. The pool has a small restaurant/bar with a limited selection of food and drinks but very tasty and reasonably priced. Also had some vegetarian options, which we appreciated. All in all a great place to spend an easy day after sightseeing in the region. Recommended to book in advance. You need a swimming cap but they are sold at the pool.

A REFINED REFRESHMENT PLACE AMONG THE CHESTNUT TREES 🎩
Located just above the ancient city of Pistoia, less than a quarter of an hour's drive away, you can easily reach this splendid retreat known as Residence Il Castagno. It's a wonderful place, entirely immersed in greenery, where you can recharge your batteries and enjoy a refreshing dip in the sparkling swimming pool.
The gates open at 9:30 in the morning, and it's highly recommended, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, to arrive early. This is necessary to secure comfortable loungers, which are available either poolside with traditional beach umbrellas or beautifully nestled in the lawn or chestnut grove surrounding the residence. Personally, I much prefer the latter, sheltered by the delightful natural shade of the majestic trees.
The welcome is somewhat mischievous, but in this place it's made extremely sweet by a single, delightful shop that serves simple yet authentic food from opening until closing. You can enjoy sweet and savory ready-made dishes, fresh fruit salads, wines, and beers at a very fair price. Although outside food isn't allowed, the owners manage prices with such integrity that they spare travelers that annoying feeling of frustration, avoiding fleecing customers as unfortunately happens in other modern recreation centers.
One word of caution, especially for those with small children: it's best to wear sturdy sandals or slippers on the lawn. The majestic trees provide delightful coolness but occasionally drop their fruit burrs to the ground; however, I must give credit to the owners who, attentive to the fundamental hygiene of the place, consistently clean the grounds, reducing such disturbance to a minimum.
In this welcoming place, the supreme triad of Hygiene, Economy, and Good Taste receives full promotion, offering an experience worthy of my compatriot Pellegrino's 1891 manual. The value of the stay and the exquisite kindness of the hosts fittingly celebrate the triumph of Beauty and Goodness.

Very nice and clean pool, quiet and cool, several relaxation areas and DJ booths, shade under the trees, very natural. If I had to find a flaw, it'd be the 6:30 PM closing time.
I'd focus much more on the bar and the cocktails.

Swimming pool located on a hill with a grove, at the top, equipped with sun loungers. 2 swimming pools one x children's bar with sandwiches and cold first courses you cannot bring food from outside.

At only 500 meters altitude near Pistoia lies the village (hamlet) Castagno. The way up is already an adventure, with beautiful chestnut trees and hairpin bends. If you pay attention you might see a deer or a fox.. (we do..)

Once at the top we were welcomed by the sweet Giulia and her mother. The apartment was Italian with the basic necessities. don't expect huge luxury but just a clean apartment with a great view.

The pool was open every day and as an apartment guest you can use all the facilities of the pool. This pool is also accessible to people who are not in the apartments (for a fee). House buzzard Kira also sits by the pool every day…

On the roof terrace you can get a nice lunch and a delicious aperitif!! With nice view.
