White Horse Hotel, Hakuba1 / 6High rating

Hakuba, 3020-647 Echoland Hokujou 🧭 Map
We had an incredible stay at the Whitehorse Hotel in Hakuba. From the moment we arrived, Tony was more than accommodating, and the entire team were personable, friendly, and genuinely went out of their way to make our stay easy and enjoyable. The daily mountain transfers were a huge highlight. We were dropped off every morning and picked up every afternoon at a time that suited us, which made ski days...
Just spent 7 nights at The white Horse with our 2 teenage sons. We cannot recommend this place enough, Tony and all his workers were all so lovely to us. Being our first time to the snow it took all the worry away knowing they would drop us off in the morning & pick us up in the afternoon at the different surrounding ski resorts. Tony organised ski lessons for us & recommend a hire place within walking...
We had a wonderful stay at the Whitehorse Hotel. The room, the food, and the onsen were all exceptional and far beyond our expectations. What truly set this hotel apart was the kindness and care shown by Tony and his team during an incredibly difficult time. Following a serious snowboarding accident, they went above and beyond to support us. Their compassion, patience, and willingness to help in every...
The White Horse has wonderful people with exceptional customer service. Perfectly centrally located in hakuba valley for skiing. They provide transportation to and from the 10 local resorts every day. Clean and spacious rooms, and 2 great onsens. Delicious hot food at breakfast and dinner with great cold drinks. Can’t say enough great things about this hotel and staff. Will definitely be back! Thanks...
My hubby and I have enjoyed a wonderful 5 night stay at the White Horse Hotel. Tony was an amazing host who made sure we were looked after each day, advising us on the best resorts to go to based on the conditions and our skill level. Our room was traditional (which we love) but with a western bed, and super comfortable. We enjoyed a few drinks in the cosy bar each night before eating in or out...
WHITE ROOM 2/4-2/8 2025 So, like many others from Hawaii, we booked a last minute winter trip to Hakuba to board and ski. Our party consisted of myself, wife and (4) kids ranging from age 10-16. This was all our first time skiing in Japan. I usually research accommodations obsessively before trips but due to the timing, I basically booked White Horse because it said it could accommodate all of us....

All was fine, friendly stuff, nice breakfast, good facilities
Overall, I was very satisfied. If I have the opportunity to visit Hakuba again, I would definitely stay at this hotel. • The room was spacious and well-equipped, and the shared microwave and kitchen in the hallway were very convenient. • Towels and indoor wear were provided for free use, which was very helpful. • You can enjoy the view outside the window from the hot spring, allowing you to relax....
A typical Japanese-style family hotel, small but exquisite, not many guests, but also very clean, private bathing, Western breakfast tasted OK. It is about a ten-minute walk from the bus terminal.
The breakfast was delicious - bread, fruit, yogurt, and galettes. It's true that the reviews are old, but I think it's sufficient for the price.
It's close to Hakuba Happo-one and just a five-minute drive from Hakuba Iwatake, making it a great location for ski season. Because we stayed during the off-season, there weren't many other guests and it was quiet. The water pressure in the shower in the large communal bath was a bit of a concern, but other than that, I was satisfied. ◎ The buckwheat galette at breakfast was especially delicious
This is a great location for accessing the mountains and enjoying the snow. There are both public and private onsens on site, the manager is lovely and helpful and the drying room for your winter equipment is also great. I have nothing but great memories :-)

Hakuba, Kamishiro 22200-8 🧭 Map
We had an amazing stay at Hotel Mont Blanc. The staff were so accommodating and helpful, assisting us with everything we needed to know about our stay in Hakuba from lift passes, to travel and other activities. A friend in our group also got very sick whilst we were here, and I cannot understate how caring and helpful every one of the staff were. We loved staying here.
A huge thank you to the staff for making our stay so memorable. We are so grateful for everyone’s help! The delicious breakfast was a daily highlight, and the location is perfect—nice and quiet but with a couple of food places within a 5-minute walking distance. Theres also daily scheduled free shuttle bus to Escal Plaza in the morning and 7-11 at night. We couldn't have asked for a better experience...
Stayed for 4 nights in a traditional style room. The pads were by far the thickest and comfiest I’ve had during my whole trip in Japan. The breakfast every morning was excellent and filling. The onsen facilities are simple but hit the spot after snowboarding. It is located just down the hill from the Goryu Escal Plaza base area, a 10 minute walk. They have a free shuttle during ski season that will...
We had the most beautiful stay here in Hotel Montblanc. Spacious, clean rooms with comfortable bedding. Heating works great as well. The food is warm and very filling. The customer service is very welcoming and kind. There was also a bus stop for Escal Plaza in front of the hotel so everything was convenient. Highly recommend!
We loved our stay at Hotel Montblanc. Staff are amazing, super helpful and always wanting to go the extra mile. Annis set us up with discount lift passes and equipment from Hillside rentals. Nothing was too much trouble. The nightly 7-11 runs were great too. Location is a 10 minute walk to Escal plaza and there's a bus stop out the front for the daily ski run shuttles. Breakfast always fueled us up...

Probably one of the best lodging experiences I've ever had. The women running the place are an absolute joy and went out of their way to ensure we had a good stay. The daily Japanese-style breakfast is fantastic and the on-site Onsen is a highlight. I'd go out of my way to stay here again.
Great place to stay for ski holidays in Hakuba!! Amazing services: walking distance from all shop, ski rental, Lawson, restaurant, bus terminal, and ski lift. You will be welcomed by two fabulous ladies. Rooms are authentic, clean and comfortable. Good Japanese breakfast. You will love the Onsen. Highly recommended.
We loved staying at Happo Kan! The ladies running the hotel were so kind and thoughtful. They left water and clean towels for us at our hotel door every morning which was nice to come back to. The hotel is conveniently located near happo bus terminal and happo one ski lifts. The rooms were clean and quiet and decorated in a traditional Japanese style. The highlight for us though was the breakfast!...
Wish I could give this hotel 10 stars. The hospitality was matched by a 5 star hotel. We came to learn that the two women working are sisters and they’re the fifth generation in their family running the business. The rooms are a “authentic” experience with beds on the floor which adds to the experience. Beds were very comfortable, views out the window(that open if you want fresh air), rooms were very...
A Delightful and Comfortable Stay – Highly Recommended! From the moment we arrived, the exceptional service made this stay truly special. Exceptional, extremely helpful staff made this stay a great pleasure. The ski room and onsen are very welcome if you're here to ski. And the breakfast was tasty and very filling.

We stayed with an extended family group. The rooms were sweet & simple but very comfortable. It just fits to my need this time. With free parking, it is convenient to my business trip.

Stayed 3 nights in early October. Was able to arrange stay by directly contacting hotel, despite website saying no availability Hotel Manager (Owner, May?) Wonderful, quaint small Ryokan hotel. Love everything this rokyan has to offer from the service to the food and location. It’s not difficult to find and within walking distance still even if you lug luggage, the road is not rocky or too many obstacles. Quite a few interesting things to look at and shop or eat along the way including a stop at snow peak.

We are beyond happy to have chosen a ryokan, specifically SHIROUMA-SO, to stay. We were lucky to have a glimpse into the Japanese tradition of living and working. The owner family gave us an experience that we could never get at a corporate-owned hotel. The ryokan must have been built over half a century ago, yet it is so clean. No dust anywhere in the room. No mold on the grout lines in the bathrooms...
It was a beautiful and quiet stay with views of the Haluba mountains. The concierge staff (Yuya and Nicola) were incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to make our trip to and from the accommodation easier. They were always so helpful! Breakfast was also beautiful with great ion portion sizes. We were always so full!

Most friendly staff I’ve met on my trip. Right next to Goryu Ski Resort. Jun helped us with rentals, lift tickets, as well as organizing shuttles to the station and the onsen. Breakfast and dinner were included in our reservation and it was so good. Rooms were Tatami style and cool to experience as an American. I would definitely book with them again!
Guys when I tell you to book the deluxe room at this hotel you absolutely must! It was such a dream to have a drying room/bath afterward skiing. The location is super close to the field and the staff were so accomodating!
Small neat clean . Well priced Friendly and helpful . See Jun very helpful . Breakfast was excellent included in room price!

Top spot for the nearby lift and luckily there is ski hire and a great pub nearby, not so good if you want to move around hakuba, as transport in hakuba valley is messy and difficult.
Great chalet located so near to so many things. Went there recently to cycle at Iwatake and it was a short ride from Wadano Woods to the bike park. The chalet could fit so many of us and it was a pleasant stay with many facilities such as a bath, laundry (wash and dryer), a fully functioning kitchen. Location wise it is near to Lawson as a convenient store and you can head out to town to get groceries...
We enjoyed our stay here very much but unfortunately there is very little ‘off piste’ connection with other guests & we believe that the cost of drinks from the bar are prohibitive for most guests. Not only was the accommodation exceptionally beautiful, but the customer service offered by Hakuba Hotel Group was world class. By far the most accommodating and professional people I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. We will definitely be back (only for longer next time)!
Awesome chalet! Great for family groups. As depicted in pictures, modern facilities are all very clean, beds were comfortable and at a great location. Had the most wonderful stay at Wagaya with my family! The house was spacious, impeccably clean, comfortable, and conveniently located just a 3 minute drive from our ski resort. Special mention to the heated floor - it felt AMAZING after a long day skiing in the cold.
Located in a tranquil yet central area of Hakuba, Wagaya was a great place to stay for our group of 4. The fully equipped kitchen was perfect for meal preparation and daily Apres-Ski. The drying room was also a very nice touch which is not that commonly found in other types of winter accommodations and was such a wonderful quality of life improvement when it came to hanging and drying our snow gear...

Stayed 4 nights visiting daughter who is working in Hakuba for the ski season. A few points: 1) Great location and in walking distance to bus, restaurants, bars, chairlifts, Olympic ski jumps 2) Our room was quite large with 3 single beds. 2 made for us and the 3rd just a mattress - not very appealing. I didn't realise the shared bathroom was an onsen so we had no shower in the room. Towels were...
They don't focus on hotel service; they're putting all their effort into the restaurant on the first floor.
Service attitude needs improvement
Convenient Location but Spartan Room Very good location in town center (about 10 minute walk to ski lifts), but room was very basic. Only a very small closet with 4 hangers… would help if they added some hooks on the walls (which are bare). A nightstand and/or a table would be nice also.
There was no parking in front of the hotel, so we had to walk a little to the public parking lot, but we were able to drop off our luggage in front of the hotel. There was free roll cake in the refrigerator, and we were given some cookies as a souvenir on the way back. We warmed up in the bath or hot spring.
Location and convinence Extremely friendly and helpful stuff. Location of the hotel is just a few minutes walk from bus terminal. There are different style of restaurants within walking distance.

Great location for family skiing if you are an English speaker. The hotel and the ski lessons are mostly staffed by Australians. The town is gorgeous, with snow monkeys wild in the trees. The accommodation is basic, with a hostel feel. The family rooms are good. The breakfast is very basic, but gets you going for the day. It is an old building, but it did have private bathroom facilities.
If you are into convenience then this is s great hotel, 100 meters from the Happo One Ski 🎿 lift. Great bar, we had fun. Does what is says on the tin, no frills This is a very basic hotel, catering mostly to young Australian tourists. The location is great for access to the Sakka ski lift. Unfortunately we found the place is very run down. It felt more like a hostel.
