We loved staying at Happo Kan! The ladies running the hotel were so kind and thoughtful. They left water and clean towels for us at our hotel door every morning which was nice to come back to. The hotel is conveniently located near happo bus terminal and happo one ski lifts. The rooms were clean and quiet and decorated in a traditional Japanese style. The highlight for us though was the breakfast! They serve Japanese style breakfast every morning (with some western options as well). The food was delicious and so nourishing for the ski day! Cant recommend Happo Kan enough!!!

Probably one of the best lodging experiences I've ever had. The women running the place are an absolute joy and went out of their way to ensure we had a good stay. The daily Japanese-style breakfast is fantastic and the on-site Onsen is a highlight. I'd go out of my way to stay here again.

Great place to stay for ski holidays in Hakuba!!
Amazing services: walking distance from all shop, ski rental, Lawson, restaurant, bus terminal, and ski lift.
You will be welcomed by two fabulous ladies.
Rooms are authentic, clean and comfortable. Good Japanese breakfast. You will love the Onsen.
Highly recommended.

Wish I could give this hotel 10 stars. The hospitality was matched by a 5 star hotel. We came to learn that the two women working are sisters and they’re the fifth generation in their family running the business.

The rooms are a “authentic” experience with beds on the floor which adds to the experience. Beds were very comfortable, views out the window(that open if you want fresh air), rooms were very clean.

Olsen is a great addition after a day of being on the hill.

Breakfast portions were very generous and served a variety of different items every day which included eggs, protein and some sort of miso soup or traditional item like fish to start the day.

The location is a 5 mins walk to Happo shops or 2 mins walk to the bus station that will take you to various mountains in the area.

This place is certainly a hidden gem and would recommend to friends and family travelling to the area. Would recommend walking to “Echo Land” in the evenings for dinner as the Happo village is a little sleepy at night.

A Delightful and Comfortable Stay – Highly Recommended!

From the moment we arrived, the exceptional service made this stay truly special. This charming boutique hotel is run by two wonderful ladies who go above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcome and well cared for. Their kindness, humility, and cheerful nature created such a warm atmosphere. They provided invaluable local tips, helped with shuttle bus services, and even offered discounted ski lift passes—a fantastic bonus!

The rooms were spacious and comfortable, offering breathtaking mountain views. While the bathrooms are basic, they are clean and functional. One of the highlights was the onsite onsen, the perfect way to soothe tired legs after a long day on the slopes.

There are plenty of great restaurants nearby, but the included Japanese breakfast was a standout—delicious, beautifully prepared, and changing daily for variety. A few Western options were also available for those who prefer them.

Overall, an amazing experience, and I can’t wait to return next season!

Exceptional, extremely helpful staff made this stay a great pleasure. The ski room and onsen are very welcome if you're here to ski. And the breakfast was tasty and very filling.

The best experience, staff were exceptionally attentive and nice. The rooms are beautiful, with views of the mountains. Breakfast was a great spred of different items. They also have gone out of their way to ensure our comfort. When cleaning our room, they gave us an extra pillow without us having to ask because they noticed we had used a blanket underneath the pillow to prop it up. That's attention to detail. Feels authenticly Japanese but still easy for people with western presuppositions to navigate.

The most welcoming and hospitable hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. I will definitely return to Happo Kan and highly recommend it to anyone travelling to Hakuba.

This is a beautiful inn that's centrally located at Happo One village. You're near by convenience stores, restaurants, the bus terminal and a few minutes from the shuttle bus to the slopes (3 minute walk to the shuttle or 15 minute walk in ski boots to the Happo gondala). Noriko (who runs Happo Kan) is amazing, she is extremely helpful and welcoming. The breakfast is fantastic! A fresh cooked Japanese style breakfast is waiting for you every morning - it is delicious and will keep you full until lunch. After a day on the slopes you can relax in the onsen as well. The rooms are neat, roomy and well kept, the futons are also very comfortable. Will definitely recommend for anyone staying at Hakuba. Thanks for the wonderful stay Noriko!

Found this nice lodge on trivago. Highly recommended - very friendly staff who can speak English. Rooms are spacious and clean. Very close to the bus station (which is just over an hour from Nagano).
