Hakuba, 5470-1 Hokujyo, Kitaadumi-gun 🧭 Map
Very nice place to stay! We stayed here for 4 nights during our snow trip. Kettle and microwave available in the room. Provide free brekkie during your stay. Laundry facilities available (2 washing machine and 2 dryer) Onsen and locker room available however there's a charge for it (we paid 1200 yen for 2 people for 4 nights which is acceptable! )
The hotel staff were incredibly friendly. There's a self-service UCC coffee machine in the lobby with free refills. The breakfast spread was excellent, and the large windows offered fantastic views of the snowy landscape. Our room was fully equipped for cooking, with a stove, sink, microwave, fridge, and kettle – everything you need to prepare your own dinner if you're on vacation. If you're driving...
Service in general is good, except manner of one young man who’s rude, while another westerner-looking gentleman is very helpful and nice!
My wife and I had an excellent stay at hotel hakuba. It was easy for us to access the neighbouring ski resorts using the free shuttle bus provided by the ski resorts. The breakfast had a good spread and an even better view. One negative feedback is that the beds in the double room is quite uncomfortable.
Amazing hotel, breakfast and dinner options were great! We stayed in winter and the view from our room was breathtaking
A no frills hotel though the location is quite good. Hotel staff was not very helpful when we were struggling with big luggages and they stood there watching us with smiles! 😂

Very helpful, great for pick up/drop off at Hakuba station and transfers to rental shop. Rooms are traditional Japanese rooms and require some getting used to.
The owner of that place is super HOSPITABLE 👍. He met us at the bus stop and also drove us to another hotel when we were moving. From 8 to 10 am he provides a free shuttle to the ski lift 🎿. There are also free buses from Happo One(the closest one and most popular ski resort) that go almost directly to the hotel, which makes it very convenient to return back for free as well. Another big plus for...
Stayed at this Japanese style inn during our Hakuba ski trips. Mr Kashiwa made this a most memorable stay. The inn itself is older and traditional and Mr Kashiwa personally helped us get to the right places. The Japanese breakfast is unique. Location is great to access the ski areas or buses to them.
Visited here back in Nov 2025 when its not ski season yet. The price was very affordable even with dinner included and the overall experience was fantastic. The cozy and chill vibe with beautiful views really caught my heart. I was greeted warmly by the owner where they not only advised me of places to visit during this off season, but also offered me a ride to one of the spots after checkout. Apparently...
Friendly and helpful owner. Close to bus stop for mountain/ski shuttle bus. Very warm. It was helpful to have an onsen on site too. We had a great time here!
The hotel was easy to find you could see the hotel from Hakoneyumoto train station. But it is not smooth to get to because you had to climb up highly slope and stairs. But the hotel itself was very nice and very cozy. There was foot bath at the ground area of the hotel and you could use it free of charge. For the front desk you had to climb up to check in.The room was big and clean. Shared toilet wasn...

We had an amazing stay at Hotel Mont Blanc. The staff were so accommodating and helpful, assisting us with everything we needed to know about our stay in Hakuba from lift passes, to travel and other activities. A friend in our group also got very sick whilst we were here, and I cannot understate how caring and helpful every one of the staff were. We loved staying here.
A huge thank you to the staff for making our stay so memorable. We are so grateful for everyone’s help! The delicious breakfast was a daily highlight, and the location is perfect—nice and quiet but with a couple of food places within a 5-minute walking distance. Theres also daily scheduled free shuttle bus to Escal Plaza in the morning and 7-11 at night. We couldn't have asked for a better experience...
Stayed for 4 nights in a traditional style room. The pads were by far the thickest and comfiest I’ve had during my whole trip in Japan. The breakfast every morning was excellent and filling. The onsen facilities are simple but hit the spot after snowboarding. It is located just down the hill from the Goryu Escal Plaza base area, a 10 minute walk. They have a free shuttle during ski season that will...
We had the most beautiful stay here in Hotel Montblanc. Spacious, clean rooms with comfortable bedding. Heating works great as well. The food is warm and very filling. The customer service is very welcoming and kind. There was also a bus stop for Escal Plaza in front of the hotel so everything was convenient. Highly recommend!
We loved our stay at Hotel Montblanc. Staff are amazing, super helpful and always wanting to go the extra mile. Annis set us up with discount lift passes and equipment from Hillside rentals. Nothing was too much trouble. The nightly 7-11 runs were great too. Location is a 10 minute walk to Escal plaza and there's a bus stop out the front for the daily ski run shuttles. Breakfast always fueled us up...

The easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given! From the moment we arrived, everything was amazing. The accommodation beautifully embraces traditional Japanese culture, which made the experience feel so special and authentic. It’s perfectly located in the heart of Happo Village making it a short walk to the mountain, restaurants, and bars, and super close to the Happo Bus Terminal. The rooms were spotless and...
Amazing hotel for an Australian couple to stay at with unreal service and hospitality from the couple that owns and runs the place. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home and help us whenever we needed. Right next to the happo bus terminal and another shuttle bus picks you up and drops you off at the front door to get to happo gondola. Just an all around great place to stay.
If you enjoy traditional Japanese style hotel, you will appreciate this one. The host is welcoming and thoughtful. The room is spacious with tatami fully covered and a window side set to enjoy the night view. The location is unbeatable. Snow park shuttle stops are literally right at your doorstep to take you to various slopes, plus Hakuba bus station is just a minute walk away. Easy access to various...
We stayed for a few days in a larger group across a few rooms, and had a great experience. The staff were extremely accomodating and flexible. This hotel is very close to the Happo bus terminal, with a strategic location along the main road and near various restaurants. At first, I thought it would have a dated interior since it’s an older hotel, but it turned out to be quite modern, well-maintained, spacious, and very clean! I loved the ryokan-style ambiance. The service is also five star, especially the older male receptionist with glasses...
Actually I went there in Aug 2018 actually. I still remember this place and love it. A traditional experience for me. I want to go back, some day insyaaAllaah.

We stayed at El Mayo during our time in Hakuba and that place is awesome, simple and you have everything you need and its super quiet for a good rest. Location is perfect for shuttle bus to and from ski resorts and also short walk to restaurants and supermarkets. Owners are very nice people, they drove us to ski resorts every morning. Highly recommend this place for a nice cosy stay in Hakuba.
Great stay. Hosts are very accommodating. Rooms are cosy, warm, big enough for all snowboarding and travel gear. Close proximity to restaurants in Echoland and easy walk to Happo One bus station and Echoland Spicy shuttle stop. No kettles or other amenities in room and attached bathroom is very small but doable. Would stay again.
Great location between ski fields and shops. Absolutely amazing service, the owners were very kind. We definitely recommend getting the breakfast package as it makes mornings easy and is wide ranging.
I echo everything said about hosts. . They run a tight little ship, and guests don't really want for anything (except a kettle). But they gave us a thermos of hot water anytime we asked. I want to point out that the onsen is maybe overlooked by many guests. The water is crystal clear and piping hot. You shouldn't omit it as the ultimate rejuvenator after a day on the slopes. What is lacking everywhere...
We stayed at Hotel Mayo and the standout part of the experience was without question the owners. They are truly beautiful people who make you feel exceptionally welcome from the moment you arrive. Great location for family skiing if you are an English speaker. The hotel and the ski lessons are mostly staffed by Australians. The town is gorgeous, with snow monkeys wild in the trees. The accommodation is basic, with a hostel feel. The family rooms are good. The breakfast is very basic, but gets you going for the day. It is an old building, but it did have private bathroom facilities.
If you are into convenience then this is s great hotel, 100 meters from the Happo One Ski 🎿 lift. Great bar, we had fun. But rooms seriously bare Zero amenities in room And a big set of stairs to get to the lift.. A massive shout out to the Amazing Australian staff that keep this hotel pumping. Does what is says on the tin, no frills This is a very basic hotel, catering mostly to young Australian tourists. We had an amazing experience staying in the Oomuko Ryokan (January 2026). It is a very traditional room, which we highly enjoyed to have a true Japanese experience. The owner is very attentive and sweet and helped us with arranging a reservation for a diner place with only 8 seats. The breakfast is delicious (Japanse authentic one as well as western) and the onsen are very clean and the best way to...
The rules are very simple. First, if you arrive early, luggage storage is only available after 9:00 AM. Second, check-in is strictly after 3:00 PM. Lastly, after check-out, you can no longer use the facilities. Apart from these three rules, this place is a gem. It’s conveniently located: 4 minutes’ walk to the bus station, 5 minutes to Lawson, 2–3 minutes to all the equipment rental shops, and about...
Stayed here in winter 2024 during the ski high season, luckily got the last room at a great price! The ryokan is within walking distance from the train station and not far from the ski area, with a beautiful view of the Japan Alps. Totally walkable distance to Lawson and Hakuba bus terminal. On-site onsen is really great and clean. Hotel Soyokaze was such a cosy and welcoming place to stay. Takao’s personalised hosting made us feel completely safe and looked after from the moment we arrived. The room was spacious and incredibly comfortable, and being able to book the private onsen each evening was such a special touch. Great location, beautiful atmosphere, and truly memorable hospitality. We would absolutely stay again!
Very friendly and helpful staff/family. Great location. We stayed in the stand-alone cabin - it was very comfortable: laundry and kitchen facilities, spacious by Japanese standards with a separate lounge area, loft area (with very low ceiling) if you want to have separate bedrooms. Well stocked with towels and cleaning products! And there's a small, intimate, nice and hot onsen (can only be booked...
The best hospitality. Would definitely reccomend for anyone wanting a comfortable stay! The people there helped in every way they could.
Indoor fire place was great. Host was extremely helpful at all times. Rooms were a good size and the onsen was great.
My second time in hakuba, and this is a real gem. Had a lovely two bedder with in room toilet at a great price. Muto San is an amazing host, on hand to give the best tips on which slopes to hit every morning, and somehow is always there to greet you when you return! The real gem is the in house onsen!! perfect to roll out of your soggy ski gear into a yukata and head downstairs.
Takao-San goes the extra mile for his guests making Hotel Soyokaze the goto place in Hakuba. It really felt as if he was a long lost Japanese uncle rather than a host. He even came and picked us up when we got stranded after we missed the last bus at the slopes. Can't recommend hotel Soyokaze enough.

It was delightful they were strict about the shoe rule and you will have to change slippers and leave shoes at the door before you step into the inn
Super chill hostel, very nice people and traditional Japanese accomodations with an awesome bath. They only accept cash at the front desk, but there are ATMs near by.
Great location. The shared bathroom didn't bother me, but opposite, especially it has the pool of hot spring water. Very cozy and traditional 😊 Super clean. Nice equipment storage room. Very nice and friendly management. We enjoyed staying there in march’25

Located about 1 kilometer from the Baekma Gakam Ski Resort, this is a guesthouse run by an elderly couple. The rooms are simple and clean. In an area where surrounding hotels cost over 1,000 yen per night, and 3,000 to 4,000 yen is very common, this hotel is undoubtedly excellent value for money. The three-storey small hotel is not convenient for the elderly. The room facilities are rudimentary. They don't focus on hotel service; they're putting all their effort into the restaurant on the first floor.
Service attitude needs improvement
Convenient Location but Spartan Room Very good location in town center (about 10 minute walk to ski lifts), but room was very basic. Only a very small closet with 4 hangers… would help if they added some hooks on the walls (which are bare). A nightstand and/or a table would be nice also.
There was no parking in front of the hotel, so we had to walk a little to the public parking lot, but we were able to drop off our luggage in front of the hotel. There was free roll cake in the refrigerator, and we were given some cookies as a souvenir on the way back. We warmed up in the bath or hot spring.

Walking distance to the slopes and ski buses. Cozy, local vibe. Great food. Friendly owners.
This accommodation has a mountain hut feel. It's only 3 minutes from the Iwatake Gondola. The food is mainly made with local ingredients, so you'll be full. There are no towels provided, and the bath area isn't very large, but that's acceptable. The toilet is large, has a heated seat, and is equipped with a washlet. What a beautiful inn. We were so looked after by both of our hosts who were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. For a couple spending their time of the slopes a warm room and onsen made our trip. We had split beds which wasn't ideal, but man we both slept well. Fresh towels daily and a share bathroom as well as help with ski hire and booking reservations. I can't wait to go back.

We had an amazing stay at Koharu Hotel! The rooms were spotless, the atmosphere was cozy, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. A special shoutout to Sam Tahlia and Jesse. huge cheers to them for their kindness and help during our stay!Highly recommend this place to anyone.
We loved our stay at Koharu. It is conveniently located at the bottom of the Sakka ski lifts, with plenty of shuttles available to take you to the other lifts and mountains. There are also a good range of food options around the apartments. The room was spacious with plenty of amenities to make you feel comfortable. The highlight were undoubtedly the staff. We would like to thank Tony, Jesse, Sam,...
Could not rate this accomodation higher. We had a fantastic stay at Koharu resort hotel and suites. Our studio room was clean, spacious and full of amenities required for self sufficient living on your stay. Under floor heating, room heating, in room air drying racks and individual ski lockers were a big positive. ALL of the staff at the hotel are extremely friendly and engaging, and have gone above...
Can not speak highly enough about this Hotel.... so close to the easy Ski Fields, has its own ski hire shop and close to so many great restaurants (especially rabbit hole!) + the snow was so fantastic and pure powder! I would also like to call out the Hotel Manager - Tony who personally drove me into town to get a last-minute Christmas present for my son (which turned out to be fantastic..)... I cannot...
We booked the 1 bedroom apartment. It was big and clean, heated floor and toilet. The kitchen had the facility we needed, except for salt and pepper. The hotel offers a 4:30PM trip to supermarket everyday, must book in advance. The staff were lovely and helpful, they speak good English too. Good location, Hakuba 47 shuttle bus is just in front of the hotel, close to Happo-one chairlift (3mins walk...

Really enjoyed the stay here! The place feels cozy and comfortable overall. The shower is shared and located in the basement, with two rooms available. Each one is fully private with a proper door, so no worries at all. They also provide disposable towels, and you can find hair dryers outside the bathrooms on both the first and second floors. The owner is friendly and can communicate well in English...
We stayed at Pension Chauchau for 10 nights and it was such a pleasant experience. Both owners, Hitachi-san and Mika-san, were very kind and polite. They always greeted us with big smiles, which made us feel very welcome. The place is clean, tidy, and very cute. The building has three floors. The basement level has the onsens and a storage area for skis and snowboards, as well as a vending machine...
This was my third stay here! The food is absolutely delicious, and they even serve homemade bread for breakfast! This time I only opted for breakfast, but in the Hakuba area, finding dinner can sometimes be a challenge, so having dinner included definitely makes for a more relaxing and comfortable stay. There are also two private family baths, and the rooms are kept very warm with heaters. If you let...
A very affordable and unique place. The only downside is that the walk to the showers in the basement is a bit far. Otherwise, everything is great and lovely.
Booked a triple room but it had four beds, making the room a bit cramped. The breakfast was excellent, with a great variety and generous portions of bread. The shared bathroom was fine, as I could lock the door for privacy. However, the upstairs restroom was a bit awkward since it was co-ed. The hosts, a couple, were incredibly nice. We bought Onsen tickets from them at a good price, and the Onsen...
This is a cute place, although I came here in November it going to snow season but we’re too early to come with out update anything, so then i missed many activities on Hakuba and this place feel like japan traditional style and vibe soft and warm

Meteor is one of the coziest lodging spots I’ve ever stayed at! I’m a sucker for fleece bedding, and they had exactly that. Meteor has a shared kitchen for people to store, heat, and eat food. I booked Meteor on Agoda, where Meteor messaged me a lot of key information such as: - food and ski rental recommendations - reminding me to making reservations for dinner, because apparently, restaurants in...
I loved the Meteor. Amazing staff (just the friendliest people you will ever meet), wonderful rooms, and just an all around beautiful place. I look forward to returning to the Meteor and Hakuba!
We had dinner at meteor and it’s the most lovely vibe. The udon is the best we’ve had all trip - friendly staff and you just can’t walk away from a meal here unhappy - perfect post skiing wholesome dinner
The staff is very friendly and gives very good advice on what to do around the area. Chika and Coco was very helpful and super lovely ! The location is perfect, everything is easy to acces ! Overall, an amazing hotel and experience. I highly recommend this hotel!
We loved our family stay at Meteor! They have a lovely eco friendly and sharing ethos and a very welcoming environment. Chika, Coco, Clara and all the staff made our stay so enjoyable. From the Onagiri for breakfast to awesome Udon at night and their homemade raw cakes the food was great too. We were sad to leave. Matane!
Beautiful ski chalet. Perfect for a family to head to the ski. Very close to all the ski resorts.
