The REX was such a gem on our trip. The staff was always so lovely and helpful. They gave us great suggestions on areas to visit and could book tickets for us.
The room was clean and large. Our views of the Matterhorn were just stunning. We got the junior suite with a view.
The SPA was such a treat and really enjoyable especially after a day on the slopes. The ski room was nice as well with plenty of space.
Breakfast was also delicious.
The location was excellent just a couple blocks from the main street so easy to access everything but far away enough to feel quite. It was very close to the bus stops as well so getting around via bus or walking was easy. We will definitely be back.

I planned a surprise weekend trip to Zermatt for my boyfriend’s birthday, and our stay at Hotel Rex Zermatt was absolutely wonderful.
The reception team went above and beyond to help me organize a special birthday dinner, and they even assisted with a last-minute lunch reservation at a famous mountain restaurant and organized our ski passes. Their kindness and attention to detail truly made the weekend unforgettable.
All of the staff were incredibly helpful, and the hotel has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We especially loved waking up to the smell of fresh bread from the bakery downstairs each morning, such a charming touch!
The rooms are spacious, spotless, and full of character. The hotel does a beautiful job preserving its original history and charm while incorporating modern comforts. The location is also perfect everything is easily accessible, making it effortless to explore.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely return. Highly recommend!

This was my fourth stay at the Rex, and although I’ve experienced several other hotels in Zermatt, this one truly stands out as the best in terms of value and quality. It’s a boutique-style property that perfectly combines cozy alpine charm with a modern, progressive spirit. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by Lucas and Ari at the reception — both have that rare, genuine ability to make guests instantly feel at home. Thank you for that!
The spa is an absolute delight, featuring an organic sauna, a spacious pool, and a uniquely sensory shower experience. Breakfast was another highlight — with homemade organic bread, local specialties, and the freshest regional products.

Thank you, dear Rex, for remaining my favorite hotel in Zermatt — a place that always feels like home! 🥳🏔️

This hotel was overall wonderful. The rooms were very clean with a modern layout, a full complimentary breakfast is included, there is access to a pool and sauna in the basement, and the staff were very helpful. There is a peaceful garden/bar outside and their restaurant next door was also very nice.
A few cons:
I realize this isn't their fault, but there was a major construction site directly outside our window, which was very noisy starting early in the morning through most of the day. The big cranes somewhat detracted from the mountain views. So maybe check before booking.
There is no AC and we were on the top floor during the heat of summer, so even with the windows open at night it got pretty hot. I would recommend bringing a fan.
There is only a tiny elevator which feels like a coffin, barely 2 people can fit inside without luggage, so if you are claustrophobic, that might be an issue.
Everything else was great and I would stay again, once the construction was done.

Everything about The Rex was wonderful and absolute luxury. The rooms were great and were such a cozy place to come home to at the end of the day. The outdoor restaurant in the front had great cocktails and was also really beautiful. We loved spending our evening on the balcony with spectacular views of the Matterhorn! We also really enjoyed the use of the spa for hotel guests from 7-9 after a long day of hiking- an absolute must to check out! We also enjoyed that it was slightly off the main busy street so we were able to get away from the crowds without adding a lot to our commute to and from the train station. It’s very walkable, but they also provide free transportation if you require it. Thanks to the great staff for everything!
