I wish I had read the reviews beforehand. The rudest service ever came across. if you want a nice experience to match the beautiful scenery, avoid this place. Sadly it is a blight on such a beautiful part of Switzerland.

There are two really good things about this place. One: the location, literally next to the train station, the first hotel you see. Could not be any better. Two: the customer service is impeccable. The receptionists are incredibly kind and helpful, the manager is very accommodating, and if there's anything you need or if a problem arises they will go above and beyond to help you. Unfortunately, that is about where the good parts end. For over $300 CHF/night on average, this hotel really drops the ball in several ways.
1. The WiFi speeds are terrible: even streaming one simple video on 1080p can require waiting 5 minutes in advance for the stream to buffer simply because of how spotty it is
2. The WiFi coverage is awful and spotty. For example, did you know, their OWN WiFi network doesn't even reach far enough into the dining hall. Which means every morning when you go down for breakfast, you will be using your own data every second because the hotel WiFi simply cannot reach that part of their own building. Which, you would think, is not really even asking that much.
3. The rooms are fairly hot, even in the winter, even if you turn off the heater, and I have no idea why. The rooms also do not have AC. Meaning the only way to cool the temperature of the room down is to open a window, which, if you are staying on the first floor and alone as a single woman, is kind of crazy because literally anyone could just walk in since there's no real gate or privacy fence or anything stopping someone from just walking in.
4. The main light in my room wasn't even working, I don't know why, but it simply would not turn on. Be warned, your rooms might have non-functional lights too.
5. While body wash is provided in their bathrooms, there is no complimentary shampoo or conditioner or lotion. Also, for whatever reason, all the body wash and hand soaps are placed in bottles that say "lotion". Do not be tricked, it is not a lotion, those are just regular soaps for washing.
6. There is a distinct lack of appliances in each room. You will not have a kettle, or a microwave, so if you were hoping to save money by cooking food yourself and making something to eat, good luck, because that will not be possible. And since the bar/restaurant downstairs is only open until 10 PM, if you wake up and get hungry at like 1/2 AM, too bad, because you will just have to starve until morning. This last part really irks me too because it would be so incredibly cheap and easy for the hotel to just provide a communal kettle or microwave somewhere downstairs in the lobby for all guests to use, if they didn't want to invest in putting a microwave and kettle in each room, yet for some reason, even basic solutions like this have never been attempted.

For all of you who have criticised this hotel, I need to put the record straight. I stayed for 7 nights over Christmas. This hotel has a fantastic location across the road from the main station and right beside the Gornergrat railway and buses. It is an ancient Swiss Chalet Hotel with the characteristics of said era. The hotel is clean and tidy, the restaurant is rustic and cosy and the rooms warm and charming. Yes it could be upgraded a bit but why do it when it is perfectly serviceable. The price for this three star hotel is good value for money, in expensive Zermatt!!! For us Brits that's important right now. Breakfast was basic but perfectly ok. An addition of eggs would be good. Reception was very helpful when approached. Only negative is that the shower curtain in my room needs replacing.

I knew about people saying to the hotel,
but in the other side the hotel located in front the main station and supermarket just beside the corner. What can i complain to this?

It's zermatt, don't expect you can get a cheap and private room on this price. The price i got only 15USD compared to the hostel😂

By the way the balcony looks old... but is facing the matterhorn!! I really love it.

The owner with a beard is sitting at the bar day in day out drinking beer and is careless about the guest satisfaction. It is obviously an alcoholic, it doesn’t look good and he is rude. The food quality is bad. I would not come back here again. The owner with the beard is making inappropriate comments to the guests, and is chatting with some alcoholic couple.

If you want to be near the train station and have the convenience of an in-hotel bar and restaurant, then this is for you. BUT you also need to be able to put up with rude, unhelpful, and distrusting owners/front desk staff, stained walls and carpeting in the halls and rooms, and minimal amenities.

The Location is great but the hotel is disgusting. The rooms are old and the bathroom had mold all over the shower. There was garbage left in the lobby for 2 days and the sheets left me with red rashes all over my back and legs. The staff was nice but this place needs a renovation. Breakfast was horrible.

Location is very good, just across from the station. The room was clean with modern decor and (basic) furnishings. Nice to have a balcony. The staff are mostly friendly. The breakfast is pretty basic - cereals (no proper museli or granola), bread rolls, a few sliced cold meats, yogurt, and a bowl of fruit cocktail. You get what you pay for and the price per night is very good for Zermatt. I found the wifi fine in my room, but no signal in the breakfast area. The not so good - no kettle in the room, which is first time I’ve ever stayed anywhere where that is the case. So don’t plan on coffee on the balcony. They will give you hot water if you have a flask. When they say check out at 11am they mean it. I got back to the hotel at 10:50am only to find my keycard had stopped working and the receptionist told me it’s because 11am is checkout time. I had to point out it wasn’t 11 yet, which for me finished the stay on a slightly sour note.

The Good - Location. Best location in Town !! 150 feet from the Train that goes up the mountain.... and it ends there. Wait.... Breakfast was very good every day. Staff very nice. However it is mostly family members running the hotel, cooking and cleaning rooms. Beds are very comfortable. The Bad - the decor and repairs are badly needed. Water dripping in dining area, hardwood floors coming up do the the water dripping. Molding coming off. Small TV's in bedrooms. The Ugly - first let me mention that my parents came from Germany so I am accustom to very good German food. I decided one night to have McDonald's (right across the street) instead of having another dinner at the Hotel G. The blue cabbage was the WORST in my life. The food was edible, that is it. Another night I went to the butcher shop up the street who and an outside grill and grab a delicious sausage there. A Motel 6 in the USA would be an upgrade to this premiere property location. It is just a shame that this 6th generation hotel is failing sooo poorly. It is appropriately rated 102 out of 109 hotels in Zermatt.

Great price, comfortable room. Fantastic location. Furnishings reflect the price, but I couldn't be happier.
